What to do without the express tags since Disney aren't mailing these overseas?

Do you guys just go up to the Disney people with the luggage barcodes/numbers and let them find the bags or do you pick them up yourself and take them on the bus?

I just have a horrible feeling that if I let Disney find the bags without tags, they might be sucked into a deep black hole in which there is no escape... somewhere like Rockhampton.

Yep, we picked up our own bags off the carousel and then went to the Magical Express and checked in with them. We had no tags either. It was much better in my opinion as this way we had our bags with us when we got to the room and didn't have to wait hours for Disney to deliver them. :thumbsup2

We had a time when we had a tight connection and when we got to MCO, our bags were missing.

So we went to the Magical Express counter, they took the luggage tags and the bag description and did all the leg work with Delta, tracked the bags down (in NY), they picked them up on the flight that they came in on and delivered them to the hotel. They were AWESOME as Disney seems to be.

I would not hesitate to take the tags to them get them to pick them up. However, it's really not a hassle to collect them yourself as they will be flying around on that carousel anyway.

Last time we had the tags, we booked through at US travel agent and she sent us our tags and that was great getting off the plane and not having to worry about it.

But really do what suits you best. Don't worry about Disney losing your bags, they are SO efficent in that baggage retrival department that it would be fine I'm sure. One bonus about getting MExpress to do the bags... No tipping! But you will have your bags straight away if you pick them up, but you may have to give the bus driver a tip if he loads the bags for you and if the porters at the hotel take them for you, another tip. Not a worry if you do it all yourself though :thumbsup2

This is what we did.

We arrived at 630pm and just got on the bus. We gave our luggage stubs to the desk at ME. By the time we got to our resort, checked in, had dinner, the luggage turned up not too long after. We were prepared though and had a change of clothes in our carry on.

Glad we did it that way. With 3 kids it was much easier.

That's very interesting to know, Shushh. Thanks for sharing.

No problems! Our TA actually got Disney to send the tags to her and then she forwarded it to us but we only realized that Disney sent the wrong tags when it was too late.

We considered getting our suitcases ourselves when we got to MCO but we were so tired. Seeing as we had spare clothes anyway in our carryons, we decided to go ahead and board the bus and let Disney collect our bags for us. It worked out well in the end.

Shushh, this is interesting. We haven't flown directly to Orlando before so can't estimate how tired we will be. I will bear this in mind if we just can't deal with luggage.

We collected our own luggage too, though it would have been nice to have Disney collect them. I didnt realise how long the walk was to Disney Express, or maybe it just seemed that way after such a long trip, with four whining kids. Of course it was great to have our luggage immediately and all whining stopped as soon as we all walked into our villa.:woohoo:

We just gave the magical express cm our luggage stubs from American and they were delivered an hour or two after we arrived at the grand Floridian . Very easy service to use.

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

We will wait and see how we're feeling when we touch down and if we need our luggage immediately.

Glad to hear good experiences with Disney picking up the bags from the ticket stubs.
