Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort - 2014 Roll Call!!!

July 3-8, 2 bedroom with son & family! If I can book more at 7 months, fine...we thoroughly enjoyed being there for the 4th in 2011!:thumbsup2

Life changes! We had to cancel, BUT we are rescheduled for September 7-13, an extra night!:goodvibes

We just planned a last minute trip for this upcoming weekend ! 2/28 - 3/3 3 nights total. Got a GREAT cash rate using a AAA discount. $156. per night ................for a 2bdrm villa !!! Cant beat that :cool1: .
The trip is two-fold for us. First , to get rid of that cabin fever .............. getting sick of seeing and dealing with all this snow. I haven't seen my lawn in ............ forever !
Also, we have been making some offers on HH contracts, and just feel like going down to visit ..........even if its not on our own points yet ! I hope we will have an accepted offer by tomorrow !

Just curious how you got a AAA rate?

I just asked for it ! Its a cash reservation through CRO.
I figured I might get lucky and get a 10% discount with AAA , but it was 25% off ! Even the CM was excited for me ! She said she rarely sees a AAA discount that high. Its the same as a DVC or AP discount.
Its off season and last minute, so I am assuming there is plenty of availability to warrant that rate ! :thumbsup2

We had to move our trip up a week because of vacation schedules at work, so we are actually staying June 14-20. DS18 has to be back on the 20th to leave for a mission trip. If I can find him a decent flight we may have him fly home and then we would stay until the 22nd.

Can someone tell me how close the actual beach is to this property? Via Google Satellite, it looks to be a drive at least. What are the access options when staying here? Thanks all for your help!

We will be there Aug 31 - Sept 7 with our girls who will be 4 and 2 (taking advantage of the cheaper points before our oldest is in school the following year).

It is a drive...maybe 1.5 miles???? They have a shuttle that takes you to and from...but there is also a small parking lot that you can drive over and park in. It fills up quickly so you have to go early to get a spot. There is a pool and quick service counter at the beach...used to be a little bar but it closed for remodel and I'm not sure what the end result was.

You can drive or take the shuttle, but there is also a very nice bike path which leads to the beach. It is safe and easy enough for older kids, I'd say 8+.

Please confirm / correct. It sounds like the 'pool house' is on the beach and you can access the beach from there. At the pool house there is an arcade, kids activities, food, and restrooms. There is a shuttle that goes from the resort to pool house. The resort has a smaller pool (looks to be the 'quiet pool').

We have 3 kids. 5DD, 3DD, 9mo DS. All love the water. We are going to WDW in November and want to start building the excitement with a summer vacation.

Thanks again for the input!

Yes, the beach house is on the beach. You can walk right out the back and onto the beach. You can look over the rails at the pool and see the ocean. Its a very nice view. There is quick service at the pool as well as arcade. There is no slide at the beach house pool but they do have a volleyball net. There is a shuttle that runs every 15 min or so. You can also drive over if you like. If you are going to spend the day ON the beach and have sand toys, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc you may want to drive.

The pool at the resort is not a 'quiet' pool. There is a slide at this pool so it can get noisy. There is also a little mini kiddie pool that is about a foot deep as well as a hot tub.

Recreation may have pool games scheduled at either the beach house or resort pool. Check the daily activities sheets for when and which pool.

It may be in here somewhere, but I could not find any tips on places to go and things to do for an adult only trip. We are booked for the 1st week in June. We are looking for dinner ideas and places to go and see. Thinking about a boat experience (dolphin cruise?) and interesting things to see. I am a beach and pool person, but DH is not. He will give me a couple of days to lounge around the pool and beach! No tennis or golf (DH has back issues). We are already planning to day trip to Savannah and to check out the outer banks areas. Any ideas will be appreciated!

Is your DH into nature at all? We're two adults, go off-off season when beach and pool just aren't options. We love walking around at Coastal Discovery Museum, Sea Pines Forest Preserve, Fish Haul Creek Park (ocean walk mostly). Harbortown, enjoying the marina and the shops. As far as resturaunts, what type of food do you enjoy? Somehow, as soon as I smell the air around me at HHI, I'm all about the seafood (except or my breakfast-Dunkin Donuts, and dessert-gelato).

We ate dinner for our anniversary at WiseGuys. It was so good. We keep saying this summer we will do another adult only dinner and think we should try something new but I'm pretty sure we will end up at WiseGuys again ;)

Thanks for the tips - yes DH is very into nature and also history. He is a forester/land manager. We do love seafood (we live in Mobile, Al on the gulf coast), but also enjoy trying new things. We enjoy Italian and French, a good steak, but do not like Mexican.
CHELLEYOO - what kind of food/atmosphere is at Wise Guys?

We love the Black Marlin. Palmetto Bay Marina. Check it out. Also Scotts right in Shelter Cove is very good.

Best Wings are at Wild Wings Cafe!!

Alexanders also very good.

Our 5th trip is coming up, May 25-30. We will have our kids: dd16, dd12, ds10 & dd5 plus another 16yo girl. Can't wait!
