Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Just booked the Grand for March 2022. I really hope a discount drops eventually for our dates, but DH thinks DS and I would be disappointed staying anywhere else (GF really spoiled us last time), so we’ll probably swing it even if they don’t.

It’s over a year away, but I’m super excited. I needed something fun to look forward to.

As a big fan of GF, I can't argue with that choice. But if money were a big factor (and I caveat this next statement as going by what I've read and heard only - no personal experience), I might consider looking at a tower room in Coronado Springs. The brand new tower is said to offer a "deluxe" experience at "moderate" prices. That said, it cannot offer the location or amenities that the Grand can.

Right! Nothing compares to the Grand in location and just the overall feel of the resort. We have the money saved up already for full price. I’m mainly hoping for a discount because we were considering a private VIP tour if the resort ends up being a bit cheaper. I know it wouldn’t cover the whole cost, but it would make it something we’re more likely to consider. Though, I’ve read mixed reviews of COVID-era tours, so we may decide to not add that on anyway.

I completely agree! Discounts should come out soon! I hope you get your discount & you’ll able to do the tour 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hi, all! I have been down here hiding in my little corner. I've missed you all. As I'm not allowed to venture forth across international borders at the moment, I've taken the opportunity to lap up the gorgeous photos posted by our dear GFers. I must admit to more than a little homesickness for our happy place at WDW and the Grand. A few days ago our building's garbage shoot underwent its semi-annual clean. I couldn't believe it, the powerful perfume that lingered was quite reminiscent of a certain hotel. It has prompted some vibrant flashbacks and more than one dream. If you could bear with me I would like to tiptoe down a few more memory lanes with a handful of photos from Christmas 2016 and May 2019. I have the feeling that memories such as these will have to last us for quite some time.

Over the past several years some of my spring bookings have been the GP discount, AP discount or Disney Visa discount.

Either one discount was better (visa usually a better discount at gf vs poly/Cr) or my dates were only available with it. However I have always gotten a discount eventually for my Spring trips. Good luck and be patient. It won’t be until fall.

I got the Welcome email this afternoon from my travel agent (Dreams Unlimited, of course), and I totally teared up when I saw the:
Resort Information: Grand Floridian Resort, Outer Building Lagoon View room.

My husband doesn’t understand why I have such an emotional attachment to a “hotel.” I know I can’t be the only one.

When I was 16, we stayed at the Poly. It was beautiful, but my mom always wanted to stay at the GF because that’s where Regis and Kathie Lee stayed. That’s where they stayed on Full House. It’s iconic. She always said next time, that’s where we’d stay, no matter how long she had to save up. But, there was no next time for her. Her health got worse, and 6 years later she was gone.

Now, I’m in my 40s, and I’m planning my second stay there with my own family. It’s just surreal, and I’m oh so thankful that this is something we can do.

Just back from our first stay and I also got emotional walking into the lobby when we arrived because I couldn’t believe we were really there! It’s always been a dream. I don’t have a pre-covid frame of reference but we very much enjoyed our stay. The room was a bit dated but the location in Sago Cay building for us was perfect - right next to the walking path to MK and the bus stop.

We took a stroll to the Wedding Pavilion for fun and then had a drink outside at the Enchanted Rose. Next time we want to try Narcoosee’s and of course V&A when it reopens. It must be really something when Fireworks are back to be able to watch from your balcony or the patio. The resort is stunning - I’m not sure we could drop the $ to stay again but we will definitely be back to visit!

We want to try Narcoosee’s too. It’s my son’s choice for his “fancy” 13th birthday dinner. I’m planning on getting a little cake delivered to our table that night.

One of his favorite parts of our entire trip last time was sitting on the balcony and watching fireworks while eating leftover Homecomin’ fried chicken in his pjs. It’s something he’ll never forget. Watching the water pageant go by at night was also magical.

Our 1st stay was way back in 2005. We too were in Sago. Dd was 10 and Ds turned 8 while we were there.

Dd loved the lobby, especially the staircase. Ds loved the beach pool. How many times can one kid go down a slide lol.

As many trips as I have thankfully had, when I stay there or pass there, memories of that trip still make me smile😊

One our favorite things to do was get a “fancy drink” as Dd would say at beach pool bar and sit on the beach or a table facing the beach. We love to watch all that’s going on across the lagoon😍 ( she still likes virgin strawberry daiquiris 👍)

We have been doing cl the last few years when we stay at gf and I kinda forgot about that. I will make sure our next non cl visit that’s on my must do list 🥰

I drink 🍷 99% of the time, but on a beach? Rum please 🍹!

I want to try Narcoosee’s but I’m very seafood averse and have had bad experiences with turf options at seafood restaurants. My “treat yourself” birthday dinner is between that, Cali Grill, or Yachtsman if it’s open again by then. Really bummed out that Citrico’s is still closed because that menu was much more appealing to me.

I don't eat much seafood and I love Narcoosee's! In January I got a Caesar salad and their crispy eggplant which is amazing. My husband got the pork chop and said it was really good. He was happy with the portion size too. I always get the almond crusted cheesecake! I won't share that dessert with anyone else it's so good!

Atmosphere we love CG! N is nice when staying at Grand or poly for walking convenience. Precovid menu was better. I struggled last year to find anything so did appetizer instead.
Y has been the best food wise but I don't know when it will open. Steak there is delish!
