Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

Are there plenty of outlets in each of the rooms in the cabins. We will need to charge 4 phones, plus our camera battery, and I'd like to bring a few Christmas lights, since we'll be there in December. We do have an outlet expander we could bring if we need to do so.

I always used to bring a power strip but my last two trips (GF and CBR) we didn't need them -- both of my rooms were recently redone.

I'm back at the cabins in February, last time we were there I think there were a fair amount of outlets scattered throughout.

Tom

I think I have read that you can book 499 days out, so right now you could book into February 2016. When you call, you are given the highest rate of the current year and then once the official rates come out, your rate is adjusted.

Thank you so much...after doing the math I believe I can book next month. Looking forward to my first camping experience at Disney!

Thanks for your help. I may bring our outlet expander just in case.

I have a couple of questions about Ft Wilderness Resort, if anyone can help me out:

a) They say that cars within the grounds are prohibited unless entering or leaving the resort. Do they mean "entering" and "leaving" as only on the days you arrive and depart or would one be able to use the car for going to the parks and coming back on a daily baisis?

b) Are pets allowed in some of the Wilderness Cabins or is it just in some of the Campsites?

Many thanks :)

You can use your car to come and go as you please from FW -- meaning you can go to the parks, go shopping, whereever -- you can't drive anywhere internally other than to your cabin (there is no place to park your car internally but at your cabin.

I don't know about pets.

Pets are not allowed in the cabins.

I can do online check in for my December cabin reservation starting tomorrow. We've never stayed at the fort and DH and I are trying to decide what cabin loop to request.

We have three DDs so I was thinking being close to a comfort station might be beneficial since the girls and I can go shower all at once or we can send hubby over there for his shower. A few other things to consider; we will have a golf cart, no vehicle/rental car and we will want to do laundry at least once while on the trip.

Any suggestions or thoughts on a good location for us? TIA!!

One more question from me today since I'm thinking about it. We have three early morning ADRs at parks and I need to consider our transportation options.

Here's what we have:

8:05 am Akershus - Epcot opens at 9:00 am

8:05 am Tusker House - AK has EMH at 8:00 am

8:15 am CRT - MK opens at 9:00 am

Would the busses be running early enough to make the Epcot and AK ones or would we be better off getting a cab on those mornings?

I was thinking for the CRT one we would boat over to the Contemporary and then walk from there. Is that my best option?

We have a golf cart, so no need to deal with the internal bus system.

We will be at the fort in 10 days and we love loop 2600. We always get cabin 2601. It is right by the small pool and laundry. We have a golf cart also. Sorry it's not by a shower however.

Laundry isn't also a comfort station? It's been a long time for me since I've been there. THanks,

Tom

We requested a cabin near laundry and a bus stop.. we have a 2 year old and no golf cart... I thought I saw somewhere that they do laundry pickup, is this correct?

Hi All,
My wife and I will be renting a golf cart one night in early December to ride around the resort to see all the Christmas decorations at the camp sites. Could you guys recommend the best place on the resort to grab a coffee or hot chocolate before we being our tour around?! Thanks.

We plan to do the same thing and are also hoping to see the impromptu golf cart parade - I think it is on Saturday nights. Can anyone confirm the parade time and days? Thanks!

For CRT why not boat all the way to MK?

I didn't think the boat to MK ran that early. I was under the impression the boats to the resorts ran earlier than the MK route. I could certainly be wrong.

you are correct, the MK boat starts 30 minutes before park opening. The resort boats run earlier.

I believe the boat from FW to MK starts running 30 minutes prior to MK opening (including EM hours), so unless you have EMH, you are out of luck on going directly to MK by boat from FW
