Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

How in the world do you find such incredibly useful info??!! Or should I say, how do you have time to find this stuff?!!? I'm convinced you have an inside source :scratchin

Thanks! Going to put this at the beginning of the thread!!
It was in a DIS email update. I receive one usually everyday so I can't miss it when I check my email:surfweb:

Did you see this cool semi when you were there? I took this from the Epcot bus as we were departing FW via WL. The semi was located in the parking lot near the entrance:

I saw that semi during 4th of July weekend. It's so cool!

Hi All, my family will be in the world in early December and we thought it would be a great experience to do the Sleigh Rides at Fort Wilderness! It would be 4 adults and my two sons, ages 2yrs and 3mo old!! Would we all be able to fit in one sleigh? From experience is it with the $60? Thanks so much!!

We did the sleigh ride in December, and it was a GREAT experience. I would say you will easily fit. We had 4 adults, and were not crowded at all.

Hi,

We will be coming by FW to see Hoop De Doo at 6:15. What time do you suggest we should plan on arriving at the FW parking lot? (We'll be driving from off site).

Also, is it worth coming early to look around? Do they still have the petting zoo?

Thanks.

I would suggest no later than 5. I know that sounds really early, but you are going to have to take internal transportation to get to HDDR, and you want to be there early to check in, as the line gets long the closer you get to check-in time.

I highly recommend spending time at Tri Circle D Ranch!! It is so much fun to look around, and also to visit the working horses in the stalls. There are also a couple of loops close by that you can walk through to see the site decorations, or you can go out on the beach just below HDDR and enjoy relax, or play a game. They typically have several different games set up on the beach.

We have never stayed at FW, but plan to in the future. Our last trip (December 2013), we spend 2 evenings walking the campground and taking in all it had to offer.

Hey all! Finally got through all 50! pages (luckily had a few days off and took a couple kids to MIL at Lake Ozark-and free wifi at the Club pool so I could read :))

First time we will stay on site and after reading through resort thread booked for preferred site and rental travel trailer (33ft!). So after reading all 50 pages I want the fall, winter and spring to speed by!!!:yay:

So many of my questions are now answered (including YES to golf cart) but still have one: Since we have always stayed offsite we have rarely used WDW transportation (except monorails)-but this last time we did park hop between Epcot and HS and used the boat 1 time-of course this is 3rd week in June and blazing hot-DH said no way is he ever taking a boat again. Are the FW boats to MK the same type as the boats between HS and Epcot? (course those boats stopped a gazillion times at the resorts)

Ok have 2 questions :rotfl: do people decorate their carts in summer? We have stuff from our annual( volunteer thank you) float trip where we decorated our canoe like a tiki bar (complete with costumes for us)

Off to read through TR's now!

We will be landing at MCO at 8:30PM and I will not want to stop at a store on the way in. Anyone have good/bad luck with Garden Grocer deliver to the cabins?

Hey DrummerDad.......we should get our Magic Bands next week. :cool1::cool1: Time has seemed to stop. I am getting anxious. My husband is finally getting excited. He says he can actually say "next month is vacation". Took him long enough.

Can't wait. Trying to not talk about it with the kids now. I think they have forgotten the dates. :)

Can't get an answer from anyone else (talked to about 15 CMs in the recreation reservations department over the past 2 weeks!). We have been trying to book a carriage ride at Ft. Wilderness for our trip in October. I am told when I call that they are on the calendar for October, but for some reason none have been booked and they are not currently open for booking! Has anyone in the know heard any rumors or information about a refurb of carriages or anything that would make it be unavailable the entire month? :confused3

Mildly frustrated that you can't buy magic band here. The woman at outpost said that when my brother arrived, he could go to outpost or meadow for a fast band. Now he's gone to both and can't purchase them.
Frustrated. Oh well, he can buy it when we get to Epcot.

Starting to make my "list" of things to bring. I am bringing all of my s'more fixin's. This is a silly question, but do I need to bring something to roast them on? Do they supply the sticks (for lack of a better description) or do people use real sticks?

We bring our own, although they do sell sticks at the campfire.
