Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

I have a trip booked next month and also wanted the Casitas. It was also not an option in the online check-in. I had a chat session with a member who directed me to online Tech Support. Tech Support told me that there were not any standard rooms in the Casitas. I kinda doubted this so I called reservations. It was a difficult call as the member had English as a second language, but in the end the same information. They don't have standard rooms in the Casitas. Out of 5 buildings, I find that very unexpected.

Not only unexpected, but also not true. As is often the issue with CM's over the phone, this is incorrect information. Casitas 4 & 5 are both standard buildings. Only 1-3 are considered preferred. Sadly, DISers tend to have more correct information than the CMs do.

Well I'm not sure what to do now. Every time I have called it's been at least a 20 minute wait and sometimes so long that I just totally gave up. I know lots of people want the Cabanas, but I wanted to be just a tiny bit further away from the hustle of the Dig Site. So, I hoped for Casitas 4 or 5.

Do you have any ideas as to why these buildings would not be an option for standard room packages at the online check-in? Can't imagine that they are all full over the Cabanas. Also, there's not a convention going on during my week.

I would call and have it noted on your reservation that you request to be in Casitas.

First timer booked for fall 2015 (yay!) to take a 2 and 4 year old to stay at CSR. I'm curious if people who have cars on site ever choose to drive to get around the resort vs. walk? Not sure what parking is like or if that is realistic? Will we be basically leaving our car parked once we check-in or do some people drive to the parks and around CSR vs. using the busses?

I always have a car at WDW and use it every day to drive to DTD and all of the parks, I find it very convenient and can't imagine relying on buses and taxis for my transportation. Not to say that I haven't taken a bus or two but I love the freedom to choose.

I love CSR which is a big resort but I think driving to El Centro from my room would be a bit much. The path around the lake is about 3/4 mile long so even if you were staying in the farthest building from El Centro you can't really be more than half that distance. There is parking at El Centro or course but you would miss the pleasure of sauntering through the grounds on your way to breakfast, etc. and finding hidden gems if you just kept getting in your car.

Could it be that the water heaters are being replaced in these buildings during this time frame? I know that they were doing the preferred rooms around this time, but haven't seen an actual schedule.

I forgot to mention you can see the frozen fireworks at the resort. My family rates it a nine out of ten. Similar to a local fireworks presentation.

That's cool. :cool2: Where in the resort did you watch from?
We are going to be at WDW for New Year's Eve and if we're too tired or just not brave enough to brave the crowds, this might be a nice option.

So here is what happened...

I could no longer get a chat session. It kept saying chat was unavailable :badpc:
I tried calling and once again the looped singing Disney songs made me crack after 18 minutes.
After awhile I searched the internet for a better way to get in touch with Disney and came across GetHuman. They had a different number for Disney (just google GetHuman Disney World) & a neat function where you could put in your number and YOU got the call back :thumbsup2

I used the alt. number and in less than 5 minutes I had a real live person. It still took some time repeating/clarifying what I was looking for, but I now have the Casitas requested on my reservation for a standard room. I know I may not get it, but I feel better knowing that I got to at least make the request!

I first noticed them when getting off at bus stop 4. Last night we watched them at the end of the bridge. The end that is nearest El Centro.

Here now. Pepper market took out the center nacho fajitas station. Now the food options are only along the walls. Four drink refill stations in Pepper market.

Are they still offering these items or have they removed them completely? Really hoping they haven't done away with them.

My understanding is that everything is still being offered. I think they are just trying to make things more efficient.

We had nachos tonight. The toppings were beef or chicken, beans, cheese sauce, tomatoes and sour cream. Didn't see anything about fajitas, but I didn't pay attention.

Question about the Dig Site. Does the water slide have a height requirement? Can I be near the bottom of the slide to help my kids get back out of the water? Can they wear water wings or are there life jackets available? My kids are so excited about a water slide but are not the best swimmers!! Thanks for your help!!

Thank you...I really like Pepper Market and enjoy their food so I'm glad they're not getting rid of it all together.

Here now. Got cabanas and upper floor as requested. Water view but paid for standard.

You got water view but paid for standard? Nice! I know that happens sometimes, and I'm really hoping that it happens to me in September. Any idea how one gets so lucky as to get upgraded??

There is a convention going on. It ends tonight. It seems a lot of them are in Ranchos. We are here for nine days, maybe that's why? That's what my DH believes. We are beach side cabanas. Good luck!

Hm. I was planning to park and leave the car all week. The buses sound more convenient than finding a spot everywhere and walking that MK lot. Plus the lines getting in to the lots.

For us I think it'll be less hassle taking the buses.

Am I wrong? Or do some people with cars leave them?
