Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

It's our first stay too and we are requesting Ranchos. I was outvoted 4-1, with everyone liking the looks of Ranchos the best. (I like the looks of Casitas.) None of us like the look of Cabanas, probably because it looks like a beach vacation and we live in a beach town.
I told DH about the location and he reasons that we will not need to go the El Centro much. Really, just on our first day and maybe our resort day. We will have the refillable mugs to use on our mid-day breaks, but mid-day we can fill them at the pool.
Also, I don't have any little ones on this trip and nobody with mobility issues. That can make a big difference.

I was going to do the same. I have heard around the convention center can get noisy and this looked furthest away? No matter when I get placed I will be in Disney

Legal reasons not really safety
They could still be open and just serve soda/snacks. You think they would during the movies for sure

Yeah I thought I remembered reading on a Disney site somewhere that marshmallows and refreshments are for sale during the movie.

Yes, they don't want to get sued for someone who has been drinking and gets hurt when there are no lifeguards on duty and the bar was open. Safety/legal, same thing.

Or maybe the demand isn't there. If there was money to be made, it would be open.

So with the room specials, it looks like the Coronado Springs is roughly the same price as the AoA hotel. Is there any reason I should choose AOA over Coronado Springs? I was pretty much gonna book AOA, but am leaning towords CS now. Is that the right move? I've never been to either

No, the pool refill is only available while it's open.

Can I refill in El Centro then? There has to be somewhere to refill when we get back from the parks, right.?

Depends, are you going with kids or is this an Adult only trip? If you are going with kids I think the ambiance of AOA would be better but if this is an adult only trip I would go with CSR. It is a beautiful and relaxing place!!

Are you comparing an AOA Little Mermaid room vs CSR? Or AOA family suite vs CSR?

Little Mermaid room vs CSR: CSR, hands-down. A LM room is just the basic value room with two double beds, while CSR's rooms are a little larger and have 2 queen beds.

Family Suite vs CSR: I'd probably go with the family suite depending on your family size. It has 2 bathrooms, 1 queen bed in a separate bedroom, plus 2 double fold-outs in the other room, a microwave and fridge. If it's just you and a spouse, then the extra space may not really matter to you and I'd go for CSR for the more adult vibe and better amenities.

It's me, my wife and 2 girls (9&6). We would be looking for just a standard room. Odds are we'll be in the parks all day anyways. I just figured that for the same price, I would go moderate instead of value.

We're basically looking for a place for a few nights before and after our disney cruise, then we're moving to Universal

My 2 girls are 3 and 7 and loved csr. They picked there to go back they love the slide at the pool.

Reasons for CSR standard over AoA standard.
1. CSR room has sliding doors between the sink and bedroom area.
2. Towels at the dig site pool. We always grab a few extra for use at the quiet pools.
3. Health club, included in price.
4. Covered bus stops.
5. The option of an onsite table service restaurant.
6. Separate shampoo and conditioner. Not a 2 in 1 product that the values have.
7. Queen size beds, not double like AoA.

Just a few differences.

Really appreciate all the helpful responses. We really like to try new places so either way is a win. We've done Beach Club, POR FQ, POR previously. I think I'm gonna do CS and not look back

Has anyone ever done this, and if yes, around how much is the upgrade fee between the two? Thanks!

It's about $25/night. BC is the premium experience at a Mod resort IMO. Well worth the money for the Cabanas 9B room location alone, the BC lounge is just a bonus.
