I forgot to mention that I have read posts about guests staying on the Atrium Club who asked to see the 14th floor, because they were curious about it. So the Cast Members obviously don't mind.

Also in May of 2000 my family & I were upgraded from the 12th - 14th floor & while we were up there, we heard someone staying on the 12th floor was given a special card to visit the 14th floor. I forgot what the reasons were, so something like this has happened before & it's an example of Cast Members who don't mind this, so jmkrat why should this bother you so much as side from the fact that you claim you are spending all this money?

I think that's why!

Maybe the Contemporary should also let guests staying on the 14th floor, see the 12th floor making it fair for guests on both floors to check them out. I don't know if this would make jmkrat happy or not, however I am sure that they would like to see the lounge on the 12th floor since it's brand new.

Wow, I didn't expect this. I am just wondering if I should go ahead and keep my reservations, when I am paying for no difference. If I went to a Atrium floor it could save me $450.00. So yes, the price does bother me when there is no difference. I have no problem with people checking out different floors. I just have a problem with spending money I don't have to. I only get to go on vacation maybe one time a year, I can spend the money on something else at Disney. I didn't mean to come across as being nasty, just wondering so I can change my reservations before it is too late.

I didn't think you came across nasty at all. I'd be upset about spending more money for the "same" thing too! The Atrium Club (12th floor) only has standard rooms (no King or Suites). If you have a standard room on the 14th floor, it might be worth trying to switch to save the money. On the 12th MK or Bay Lake Views are request only, where as on the 14th they assign you a specific room when you book so you know your view ahead of time. Have a great trip!

Thank you, I was feeling pretty bad. It has been a tough year for me. I think I do have a standard room. I know there aren't any rooms left on the 14th floor for when I am going. I really just want a good trip, I don't even mind if I don't get MK view. I found the Bay Lake view to be pretty as well. Thank you again, I wasn't sure if I was going to post again. A few kind words goes a long way. :)

Please help!!! What is the 10th floor Atrium CLub is that CL? If so what is the difference in floors???? :confused3

I have not yet stayed there (only 48 hours to go!), but I can report to you when I get a chance. Also, if anybody wants some specific pictures, let me know and I'll be sure to get some while I am there.

Hi, Demosthenes! :wave2:

jmkrat, I was thinking the same thing--I don't think anyone on the 14th floor has a problem sharing the lounge with the riffraff on the 12th floor--but it makes you wonder, why the price difference just to be one floor up if the lounges are equally accessible. Maybe they're moving toward charging the same price for a standard room, no matter which floor.

I was thinking that it was odd to invest so much into two concierge lounges if they're going to offer the same, why not just expand one and open it up to both floors? I guess if the selling point is the service, they could argue that while both lounges are open to both floors, you're still getting more personalized service from the staff that's taking care of a smaller group on the 14th floor. But that's a lot to pay for extra service that may or may not happen.

We'll be there in November--did anyone find out for sure if there will be construction going on in the Concourse--is that not happening until next year?

steffali--from what I've read on this thread, the Atrium Club concierge lounge was temporarily on the 10th floor while they were renovating the 12th. The new Atrium Club lounge is now open on the 12th floor and the 14th floor has the Tower Club(?) concierge lounge. So if you booked Atrium Club you'll be on the 12th floor, Tower Club, you'll be on the 14th floor, 10th floor is now back to standard Tower rooms.

The Atrium Club had been temporarily relocated down to the 10th floor during rehab. It is now back on the 12th floor as of August. The 10th floor is once again standard rooms, non concierge.

kbeverina,
When I booked the 14th floor it wasn't the same as the 12th. I can not have a lot of the food that is offered. There seemed to be a bigger variety offered (at the time) on the 14th floor so I thought I would stand a better chance being able to get something. I also figured I may be able to get a little more help with this, since the 14th floor didn't have as many people. I was surprised when I first looked into the Contemporary that they had two levels of concierge. I always thought concierge was concierge and should be full. Most people don't understand food allergies, but it is difficult. I get very sick if I eat wheat. To the point I will spend most of my time in my room. Disney is about the only place I can actually go out to eat at. If I can get someone on the concierge to oversee this and help me, I am willing to pay for it. I am anxiously awaiting a report so I can find how things are.

Hi! Gee...I miss the debate board.

AAANYWAY...

The reason the IPO office emailed me about this is because we were "downgraded," and I wanted to know the difference. I am guessing this is all in flux since the 12th floor just became full concierge recently, and just got its own lounge. We shall see if this is correct information (or if it is still allowed). The 14th just reopened at the first of the month (at least that was the schedule). Has anyone stayed there in the last week that can confirm that you can visit either lounge as a concierge guest now? Otherwise, I can let everyone know tomorrow!

Honestly, I see no reason to pay for the 14th floor in a standard room now (there are only 5 available). I have stayed in the old 14th floor atrium club, and there was quite a difference from the 12th floor tower club, but now that the food and service is the same, and now that the 12th floor has its own lounge, what are you paying for?

Maybe you should contact concierge there and try to get a handle on exactly what the differences will be when you're there. I agree, if the offerings are the same and you only have a standard room on the 14th, then I know I would like to change to the 12th to save $$! It's expensive enough as it is! ::yes::

Thanks for the info. When I called to make reservations they told me that the room would be the 10th floor Atrium Club and I was COnfused as usual
I did ask her if there was any difference from the Atrium and the Tower Club and she said only what floor the rooms are on. :confused3

I was wondering for anyone who has recently made a reservation for the Atrium Club, does your confirmation say Atrium Club or Tower Club? For my familes reservation in December it says Tower Club, however we know that it's for the Atrium Club because when the reservations were made we specifically asked for the Atrium Club & if we were staying on the Tower Club, then we would have been quoted the wrong rate we are paying per night. Also when we got the 1st confirmation in the mail, we called CRO about this & they said we are on the Atrium Club, not the Tower Club. I am asking you all this because the confirmation we got in the mail this past May says the Tower Club & we got a 2nd one in the mail yesterday & it also says Tower Club. So obviously they did not change something in the computer system when it printed. Finally maybe this is why some people get confused between the Atrium Club & the Tower Club.

hi, ours also says tower club on it, we have also booked for the atrium club level and the price we have is right for the atrium club not towerclub, its all very confusing!! susie2

We have a reservation for the atrium club in October and our confirmation sheet also says tower club. I don't think there is a "tower club" anymore, anyway, but I had also wondered about this. We specifically requested atrium club when we made the reservation.

Atrium Club is the 12th floor & Tower Club is the 14th floor. So yes there is still a Tower Club, however if you claim your reservation is for the Atrium Club, then you should have no problem. Our reservation for December also says Tower Club, but we know it's for the Atrium Club.

What are the differences between Atrium Club and the Tower Club?

The only differences between the Atrium Club & Tower Club is this. The Atrium Club is on the 12th floor, Tower Club is the 14th floor. 12th floor there is only standard rooms & the 14th floor there is 16 rooms, 11 of them are suites & 5 of them are standard rooms. Some people also may say with a total of 16 rooms on the 14th floor, guests might get more private service. Well my family & I have stayed on both the 12th & 14th floor & we think they give each family the same service 100% equally.

After that everything else is the same in terms of food offerings for breakfast, afternoon & evenings. Some people may say it's not fair that guests on the 12th floor who are paying less get the same as guests who pay more on the 14th floor, well I say it should be the other way around. For years guests on the 14th floor, got the better food oferings in terms of food in the evening, where guests on the 12th floor only got breakfast & afternoon snacks.
