Thanks for the info :)

This morning I called to switch my ressie and they don't have any standard wing views with AAA for my week or the week before or after. The week after they had a wing water view with AAA available. Other then that just tower MK view or wing with king bed. :( I might switch to AKL instead but I really wanted the monorail. It's just a little to pricey.

Somewhere it mentioned the time span as being from August 2005 thru Feb. 2006 for the renovations to the tower and also somewhere about doing a floor takes a month???

Does anyone know about the timeframe for the renovations being done to the wing rooms? Also, I can't remember which is being done first, north or south?

We are heading to WDW this November and staying at OKW, but I am already thinking about November 2006! It never hurts to be prepared!!! :rotfl:

We just booked CR Tower MK view for valentine's week. We've never stayed there so a few questions. Do the king bed rooms have a tub or are they the wheel chair accessable ones with the open shower stall like many of the king rooms at WL? Can you refill your mugs with the Coke slushie? How late is the Food and Fun center open?

Thanks! I can't wait to stay there :)

Just back from there, loved it! Can't answer about the king rooms......but yes, coke slushie is refillable with the mugs, and I believe the food and fun center is open 24 hrs.....was there at midnight, and at 6 am, think I read it was open 24 hrs.

I don't think so. I think the stairs are fire escapes only. Rooms don't start until about the 6th floor, anyway. The lower levels are public spaces.
I'd ask your question over on the DisAbilities board. I'm sure they could help you better. Or maybe call the resort directly and speak with a manager. S/he may be able to make a special arrangement for you.

Good luck.

Also, just a FYI, but if your child is sensitive to load noises, you may want to consider a wing room. The fireworks were VERY LOUD in our 14th floor room. Maybe the lower floors are quieter. I'd sure ask. When we stayed in the North wing, we could hear the fireworks, but they weren't loud at all.

The stairs are not only fire escapes. A lot of guests that do not have MK view rooms go out on the stairs (they are outside) to watch the fireworks. You can ride the escalators up to the fourth floor and then take the stairs from there.

Has anyone ever stayed in a wing room and while they were there wished they would have spent the extra money for a tower room? We are just thinking about different options for our November 2006 trip and would love to hear opinions! ::MinnieMo

We're staying at the Contemporary for the first time in January for the marathon. I thought the convenience of being able to walk to the MK was too good to pass by. So I have a question that might be obvious but I'm confused. According to the WDW resort site it shows - standard view, garden view, and garden wing room. I booked garden wing room (all that was available except for tower concierge and since we have a long July vacation plan that was out of our price range). WHat is the difference between garden wing room and garden standard room? THanks.

My Family and I have stayed in both the tower and wing rooms and do prefer to stay in the tower. The tower rooms are much more convenient to everything and unlike many others, I love to wake up in the morning to the music from Chef Mickey's.

A garden view means you won't face the parking lot. Your room will face the grounds, pool, or Bay Lake. if you get a Bay Lake view on the first floor, you won't be disappointed: it's one of my favorites.

Well I'm still confused because there were three categories of wing rooms on the website, standard, garden and garden wing. We have garden wing which was more expensive than garden - what is the difference?

A garden wing room is a room located where the building intersects. If you glance at the building map on wdwig.com you'll get a better idea.

Are the wing rooms any bigger or nicer than a standard room or is it just the location of the room that makes the difference?

I feel like this has been asked and answered before, but if anyone wouldn't mind a search-challenged poster one more time:

Can you please explain what and where the "tower club" concierge will be and when? When will it be back at the 12th floor, how will it be different from the prior concierge "lite," and how will it be different from the 14th floor concierge? (Other than being on a lower floor.)

And lastly, now that the contemporary is making it so you can book mk view in the tower for a higher price, will there be separate tower club categories -- that is, will there be "tower club MK view" and "tower club bay view," or do you just make your reservation and hope?

Hi, Lark. I was just reading posts by "the insider" last night regarding these questions. The insider thought that the 12th floor concierge would be finished with the new lounge by summer 2006. It will then be called Atrium Club and the 14th will be called Tower Club. I believe The Insider also stated that the Atrium Club would go into full concierge in January 2006. I am not 100% sure on that one though.

I read that the Atrium Club views will be assigned. You will have to cross your fingers and hope for MK view - or visa versa. They will be raising the prices so much for the Atrium Club that they didn't want to go over the top with the pricing for a MK view on the Atrium Club floor. There will be one Atrium Club price and views can only be requested.

Hope that helps. Check out The Insiders posts.

That's really interesting. Thanks much. I just called CRO to talk about a reservation for late 2006, and was quoted a rate for what she called "tower club." From the way she described it, I got the idea that it was actually what you're describing as the "atrium club." The main reason I think this is that she said "by June 2006, all of the rooms on this level will be updated," and I thought I read somewhere that the 14th floor isn't being rennovated. Also, the price that she quoted matches up exactly with the rack price that I've seen for the non 14th floor concierge on mousesavers.

She confirmed, by the way, exactly what you're saying -- that you can only request an MK view, not pay extra to guarantee it. "For now," that's only an option for the non concierge tower rooms.

She would not say, though, what floor it would be on, so I guess it's still a little ambiguous. Thanks again.

Lark - I stayed on the 14th floor last Thanksgiving and OH BOY those rooms (well the suite we were in, anyway) REALLY need updating and a couple coats of paint! I think the 14th will just be the last to be completed - that's what I read a while back.

I think sometimes CRO isn't really filled in on the up to date info. If you are a family of 5, like we are, you cannot book a regular room on the 14th. Maybe that gives you a clue, too, about what room you have booked??? It sounds like 12th floor, though. I think once it moves back to 12th floor, the 14th will become the "Tower Club". It is pretty confusing!

Happy planning! We will be staying on the Atrium Club level at the tail end of our Thanksgiving stay. Hope ALL those rooms have been completed.

39 days and counting till check in Dec. 14th! So excited after wanting to try this resort since the wife and I were kids! :cool1: Just checked availability and it looks extremely full during our stay because of the weekend of the 17th apparently pretty fully booked. Booking engine reported only a 1-bedroom suite available over that weekend! :earseek:

Ok -- hopefully an easy one.

Which side of the 5th floor of the tower does not have any rooms on it -- the MK side or the bay side? Trying to make sense of the floor map.
