We stayed in a North Wing Water View room in March. It was GREAT! I actually would rather stay there than in the tower. I would recommend the North Wing because it's closer to MK. You can walk there in about 10 minutes. Also try for a room that's fairly close to the tower. You can go in a side door directly into the food court. The rooms are huge and in good condition. If you want a remodeled room (see allearsnet.com) you can request the South Wing, which will be farther from the food court and MK. We also had a ground level room with a patio. There was a grassy area and a view of Bay Lake. My kids loved playing on the little beach. I'd highly recommend a ground level room. The upper levels in the wings don't have balconies, and it's nice not to have to mess with an elevator if you have a stroller. I know there was a thread about theft in a lower level room, but that person didn't put on the upper lock to the sliding glass door. The door has an upper lock and a lower lock. The upper lock obviously provides much more protection. You could also bring a pole of some sort or even a portable door alarm.

We have always had great experiences at the CR, whether staying in the tower or in the wings. In fact, we plan to stay there on our next visit. We were at WDW 2 weeks ago (checked out 11/8) and, although we didn't stay at CR, we went there to eat twice and rode past it on the monorail several times. There's refurbishment going on at the south wing, but if you're getting a water view you're more likely to be in the north wing where the rooms are large and you're a short walk from the Magic Kingdom. Just be sure to securely lock your doors as you should in any hotel room.

Can't wait for 4 nights at CR, and meals at California Grill (we we're engaged there Feb 2 of "04), Steakhouse, Chef Mickey's for breakfast, the pool, the monorail or walking to MK, decorations, the mural, the coffee shop, sticky Mickey's, and I could go on but won't. I'm getting more excited and hungry as I type this! :goodvibes

What are sticky Mickey's?

We just returned from another stay at the CR (11/12 - 19). We stayed on the remodeled 10th floor -- unfortunately, the remodeled rooms no longer scream "Disney". JMO, but they barely even whisper "Disney" anymore. :( The decor is very upscale hotel-ish with one homage to Disney -- a single hidden Mickey. The room was very nice and stylish -- we just missed the old decor.

We were in 4619 -- beautiful view of Bay Lake. We saw/heard the EWP every night. Everything was great and we encountered only 2 problems. Monday afternoon there was no hot water for a few hours (not sure what happened). Friday housekeeping was really late getting to our room. But they left us a nice towel animal duck (toothbrush holder) after cleaning up.

Like a cinnamon roll shaped like a Mickey head. The Steakhouse has them there for breakfast and they are yum! Maybe the Disney Restaurants board has a photo of it in their picture thread?

(till trip begins, 20 or so till CR check-in) Happy and warm thoughts for those that are there now! :cool1:

Just thought I'd write to say...10 DAYS TO GO! Like many here the holiday show on last night just made me even more ready to go. If I can just finish some work projects before departure, i won't spend the first day worrying about them. Even so after the first day I'm saying, Work? What work? Hope the sports kids are quiet after 10 pm at ASP and that the CR has some decorations up when we get there mid-week. "To all who are coming to this happy place, patience." :cool1:

mgpan: Thanks for bumping this thread. It's one I keep an eye on since CR is one of our favorite Disney resorts. I'll be looking forward to a report on your stay there after you return. Please let us know how the refurbishment is going and what the latest rumors are!

Silly question b/c I know I've seen it posted before but...can you refill your mug with the coke slushy at the food and fun center?

Yeah I keep calling every day to see if they assigned us a room yet and so far nothing. What free dining are you refering to. Also is there a more effective way to ask for an upgrade or do I just have to wait until I check in.

What number do you call to see if they have assigned you a room yet? I leave on Thursday and would love to find out!

KRBQ, we'll post an update on the reno's, crowds, etc. when we return (Single digit dancin' today! :cool1: ). We're hoping for a good room location. We plan to go over there 4 days in advance of our check-in while staying at ASP to see if we can find out what room we're being assigned and if we can work some magic! Trying to get the housesitter arranged now and already starting to pack! :teeth: Look for our details to follow after Dec. 18th!

To YOu HoneyMo U can refill ur mug with the slushy all day long trust me thats all i drank Oh and Hello to everyone im kinda new to this site so thanks for havin me

Thanks disneythug - I was pretty sure you could. It's just another reason DH thinks we'll never go back to WL after this trip (unless of course they add the slushy machine during the roaring fork rehab and then it might be a tough decision).

Hi. We have a garden view wing room booked for the beginning of Jan. I was wondering if any of you could give me your opinion on what I should request on our ressies for room location/view. I am wishing for some pixie dust and an upgrade to the tower since it never hurts to dream :wizard: , but of course I know it isn't likely. I had requested (along with nonsmoking) to be close to the tower. But now I am questioning that. Are there some very nice views that I should be requesting? How far is it really between the closest rooms to the tower and ones closer to the water? We have three kids, 9,5,and 2 if that makes a difference. What would you recomend? Thanks :)

In my personal opinion, Mom of 3...

In the garden I'd prefer to be on the ground floor of the North Garden Wing with a Bay Lake view because it's quieter and the perfect spot to watch the Electrical Water Pageant. For early risers like me I can catch the Bay Lake sunrise every morning, too :sunny: The North garden is closer to the playground, and the South is closer to the pool. If you're on the ground floor then you'd have a patio. The North Garden rooms that I like are the farthest away from the Tower and are about a ten minute stroll to the monorail, but closer to walk to MK if you want to save time.

:wave2: Hi! I am leaving for WDW in 10 days!! We are staying at the Pop for 1 night (dec 11) and the Contemporary from Dec 12-16. I know we have a garden room water view. I dont' know where though. I would be happy to give any updates on the CR when I am there.

Are there any last minute tips/things I should be aware of? Its me and the kids first time to WDW. Dh was there when he was a kid in the 70s, but not since.

I am excited and nervous all at the same time! :flower:

We had this same view booked 11/22 and also requested to be moved the the tower (paying the diff. of course). They were booked solid. I also req. close to the tower. We originally were given a room in the middle of the North tower. While we were walking in the previous guest was leaving and said it was b/c it smelled of smoke. Boy did it, and it was nonsmoking. I immediately called the front desk and req. another room. They switched us to room 7301, which is facing the back side of the resort, 3rd floor and the very first room from the tower. This was a great location, we could see the EWP and it was a short walk to MK and the food court was right there. I suggest if your first room is not up to par, call the front desk and see about moving. It can't hurt. Although my Poly fan family wasn't thrilled with CR, I thought the location was great!! But will book Poly next time.

Hi,

I'm wondering if the jr. suite rooms at CR are similar in layout to the WL jr. suites (sitting room and bedroom), or if they are simply larger rooms like th AKL deluxe rooms. We're hoping to spend the first 3 nights of our trip at CR, but we need the two-room configuration. Thanks!

I hope this hasn't been answered recently but I've skimmed over pages of threads to find the answer with no luck. Has anyone stayed in a tower, MK view recently? I was wondering how many of those rooms are renovated. We are booked for a tower w/MK view the beginning of Jan '06 and wondered what our chances are. I put in a request for a renovated room but I'm not sure it's even available. I even called the front desk of CR and the woman was not sure and transferred me to CRO! I was on hold forever and never spoke to anyone. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Tigger_Magic, I did see where you were on the 10th floor but is that conceirge?
