We are staying at CR now and are in the South Wing, 2nd floor garden view (I requested ground North wing but dind't get it). The room we are in hasn't been renovated yet. Haven't really noticed any construction going -- can see some paintng out our window but that's it.

Hey CR experts. Now that I have a descent job I'm thinking of taking the kids to FLA for a few days while DH is in school. Anyhow since I would be on my own CR seems very convenient. Are there rooms in the tower you can get to by stairs. That we would'nt be walking more than 5-6 flights. I ask because DS will ride an escalator but not an elevator (he's got major anxiety and is autistic). But he loves the monorail. Thanks all!

Just back from WDw and we visited CR and just wanted to say that we LOVE the new elevators. Nice. I just wish they'd bring back the characters announcing what floor you were on. It was such a nice touch.

hey Pandamom,

Hope you are having fun. How far into the wing are you? How long of a walk to restaurants?

Thanks

How did the rest of the rennovations seem to be going?

I was only visiting for a few minutes to get to the bus from MK to go to DTD so I didnt see much. I did see a floor covered by a curtain...maybe the 10th floor.

Sorry I didn't see anything but the elevator.

Hey stranger! Good to see you. :) I think the regular rooms do start on the 5th or 6th floor, and yes there are stairs, but why don't you get a room in the garden wing instead? :confused3

Hey Tinkbackwards, yes I was thinking the garden rooms too. Talked with DH last night and if he's in school he has no issue with me going for a few days with the kids. So that's the good news, bad news being where to stay but more and more I'm thinking CR. Thanks for the info.

Background
(I booked BRP for garden wing w/pool, water or garden view CR online for Wed Nov. 23- Sun Nov.27)

1st, we are booked for Nov. 23, but won't arrive until anywhere from 1am to 4 am on the 24th, how do I let them know that? Do I call the passholder# or the hotel directly and when should I do that?

2nd, my only really important request is that we are as close to tower as possible. I would like north wing but I rather be as close as possible. Should I make this request at the same time as the 1st problem? The same way?

Thanks CR experts :love1: ,

Polyaddict:

We were almost to the center of the wing (5215) and the walk wasn't bad at all (but if given the choice I would have picked a room closer to the main building). I really liked being close to the pool and the area was very quiet.

Have fun!

I've decided to change my ressie from WL to CR. I have a few questions. I apologize in advance if they were already answered.
1.) Does the CR seem more crowded then other resorts due to the restaurants and water activities?
2.) Do you need to make ressies for meals at The Concourse Steakhouse?
3.) Is the resort hard to navigate? It seems so big.
TIA :)

1) No, it doesn't seem crowded to me at all -- maybe even less crowded than the other resorts.

2) It doesn't hurt to have ADR's for the Concourse Steakhouse, but usually we've been able to get seated without one.

3) No, it isn't hard to navigate.

1) IMO, No. I've found that having the front-desk on the 1st floor, and the restaurants on one side of the 4th floor (and 15th for California Grill, and 1st for fast-food place) and shops on the other side of the 4th floor, it's nicely spread out, crowdwise, without being hard to navigate.
2) Never hurts to make reservations. If you're more spur-of-the-moment, make a couple of ressies and cancel one when you know you won't make it. The dining-plan has made ressies a must lately.
3) Very easy. Wing rooms are quite and secluded. Tower rooms are also quiet, but you open your door and look down on the activity/monorail...really nice. Long-ish walk from middle of wing to Tower hubbub. Very quick zip down the elevator when in the Tower.

I *finally* broke down and made our reservations for the CR Tower last night. Does anyone know the approximate "finish" date for refurbishments just out of curiosity?

I have to say that I'm nervous and excited all in one  :hyper:. We've always stayed at value resorts in the past but we've outgrown them! The four of us barely fit in the ASMo room last year so we decided to move up...and boy, did we. Our room costs more than our whole Disney vacation has ever cost. :o

I'm hoping that it won't be too adult-oriented for my two DS's (10 and 8) but I know they'll love being close to Chef Mickey's and the arcade. :sunny:

Hi, congratulations on your decision!!! I know it is a tough one - I change my mind over & over again.

Just wanted to let you know that I have 3 kids 5, 9, and 15 and the CR is their FAVORITE (in loud capitals) WDW deluxe resort. We have stayed in almost all and this is IT for them!! Your kids will love it!

Happy planning!

Definitely not - they should love it. My daughter at 6 loved it - Chef Mickey, the monorail, enjoyed the pool and we had a tower room that faced MK which was great. Going next month again and staying in tower room and hoping it's facing MK.

Somewhere it mentioned the time span as being from August 2005 thru Feb. 2006 for the renovations to the tower and also somewhere about doing a floor takes a month???

When are you going?

Not until June of 2006 so it looks like we should be in the clear. I have to say that we're more excited than anything, our boys are thrilled at the thought of staying in a monorail resort. I'm just having a hard time justifying the expense of the room...but I'm really thinking it's going to be worth it afterall. :flower:

I can't tell you how invaluable everyone's input is, it's greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

I don't think so. I think the stairs are fire escapes only. Rooms don't start until about the 6th floor, anyway. The lower levels are public spaces.
I'd ask your question over on the DisAbilities board. I'm sure they could help you better. Or maybe call the resort directly and speak with a manager. S/he may be able to make a special arrangement for you.

Good luck.

Also, just a FYI, but if your child is sensitive to load noises, you may want to consider a wing room. The fireworks were VERY LOUD in our 14th floor room. Maybe the lower floors are quieter. I'd sure ask. When we stayed in the North wing, we could hear the fireworks, but they weren't loud at all.
