We just booked our December 2008 stay at the Contemporary :woohoo: :woohoo:. This will be our first stay there since the room renovations and I am soooooo excited!! :santa:

Does anyone know if there are laundry room facilities at the CR, and if so, where they are located?

The laundry room at the CR is located on the 2nd floor of the south garden wing, accross the hall from room #5209.

...for those who know;) ...

What EXACTLY is on the menu at the Tempo Grab n Go, particularly for breakfast? Are there ANY hot items? Somewhere I had found a picture of the menu boards a while ago, and can no longer find that picture.:sad2: (I don't know if it was on the DIS or on Allearsnet.) I know others have said that the best thing to do is get danish, buns, etc with snack credits. But, I'll have my parents there in two months, and they like a regular breakfast type of thing. Going to a different resort for breakfast would be a bad idea, as they are 83 and that would probably add about 45 minutes to our schedule in the morning.:sad2:

Thanks! I haven't been there since they started moving restaurants and things around.

The hot item is called a breakfast scrambler. It is a dough cup with scrambled eggs and cheese inside. You can also get one with eggs, cheese, bacon and onions too. These come frozen and the CMs put them in a microwave. I had one and it was very dry. I only ate about 1/4 of it.

The flatbread pizzas are good. Great for a late night snack. The CMs at the Grab 'N Go are great. The afternoon and evening menu is flatbreads, hot dogs and pulled barbeque pork sandwich.

We were there for 10 days. We ate at Gasparillas and Captain Cooks. My DS5 had to have his Mickey Waffles.:)

My step father is 81 and he just ordered room service or got something from the baked goods case. He and my mother often split meals. I would probably use room service for your parents. The extra cost is better than wasting so much time in the mornings. Gasparillas was a zoo around 8:45!

Hope this helps,

Lori

Does anyone know if there are laundry room facilities at the CR, and if so, where they are located? I'm going to be at WDW for 12 days, and I don't want to have to pack that many clothes, so I plan to do laundry midway through my stay.

They're in the South Wing and the room is a pretty good size compared to other Disney resorts. Laundry detergent and fabric softener are available for purchase from vending machines, but I always bring my own. I forget how many machines are available, but I think it's at least 4 of each. The machines take quarters and there's a change machine in the room if you don't have enough quarters. And you'll need plenty. I forget whether it's $1 or $2 per load for each machine, but something's telling me you'll need 8 quarters for each machine. But it's nice to have your favorite clothes all nice and clean to wear a second time on the same trip.

Yes, that helps. Thanks!:)

I stayed in room 5211 at CR, so I practically across from the laundry room. There were 4 regular washers and 1 high efficiency washer. Not sure how much that one was, the but regular washers were either $2.00 or $2.50. Nothing was $1.00. THe cycle on the regular washers was less than 25 minutes
The dryers were $2.00. It ran for at least 45 minutes, but I had some jean shorts and thicker socks that were still a little damp, so I had to run a second dryer cycle.

Also, be prepared that at around 8:00 or so, the laundry room gets pretty crowded. A few people walked in with their clothes to find that every machine was in use.

The game room has been there for months, I think I have pics of it up (from a number of months back). It isn't as nice as the old one.

Denise,
Do you have a link with the pics? I would lilke to see them. Thanks

I can only PM it, but I do have pics from a photo walk around the resort. I'm getting that to you now! I'm just sending you to the page with the Game Station photos. (not a lot of them, just 2 or 3 as part of 100 - 200 pics of the CR).

I just booked our trip for March at the Contemporary and I am so excited! We took our first trip to WDW in June and I let everyone talk me out of staying at the Contemporary. We ended up going to the hotel for breakfeast and I regreted not staying there. My daughters birthday is Tuesday and I am going to tell her then, but I am so excited that I had to tell someone! LOL

Congragulations on staying at the Contemporary, I am sure your going to enjoy it a lot. :thumbsup2

Texasfan--
This is the right place to share your excitement! Have a great trip! Don't let anyone talk you out of the CR again--it's such a great resort!
(We're going back in January and I'm starting to get very excited!) :)

Like I said we went over for breakfeast and we really wished that we had stayed at CR. We stayed at the Poly which was real nice, but we loved CR. We ended up spending two hours just walking around the resort before heading to the park. My daughter loved watching the monoril and she also loved the game room. She is going to be so excited that we are going to WDW, but I think she is going to be more excited about where we are staying!:yay:

Texasfan,
Maybe on some level it might have been good that you were talked out of staying at the Contemporary before, because by going there for breakfast you realized how it was a mistake to not stay there and now you got the chance to correct it.

Or lack thereof, really...I've heard that there aren't any decorations up at CR. Can any one confirm or (hopefully) dispute?

Thanks
Christine

They do not go all out like the Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge does, but in the past they have had decorations in the lobby and the 4th floor.

I am not sure of their hours and they don't have anything listed for breakfast, but for lunch and maybe dinner there is always the Sand Bar which is located by the pool. Their menu is smaller then what the Food & Fun Center had, however it still has your basic items. So here is their menu from Allearsnet.com if anyone wants to take a look at.[/QUOT

Is the Sand Bar a counter service credit on the dining plan or a table service? Hoping for a counter service there, we are staying garden wing and was hoping for option to use our credits other than Grab and Go.
Thanks!!!
Jill

Hi,

I'm just curious about how long the walk from the CR to the MK might be? I've always read that it's a great deal faster to walk, instead of waiting for the monorail, especially during busy times...
