Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

would anyone presently at CR mind letting me know what the construction hours have been during your stay. I am supposed to visit may 8-14.

I called the information line and the person I spoke with seemed like she has no clue and sheepishly guessed 9-5. If it is really just 9-5 then I’m not too worried but if it starts at the crack on dawn or goes into the evening, that would really be a bummer.

also, do the construction tarps cover all hallways, or just the side being renovated ?

thanks so much!

They are starting on the TPV room side, so all hallways are currently covered on that side. The Lake View side is not coffered.

I assume you have a Tower Lake View reservation? Have you had the reservation for awhile?

Lake View rooms aren’t bookable past around early May last I checked, so we have been ‘assuming’ that could be approximately when they will start work on that side.

Thanks for your quick reply!

we are staying in a lake view tower room. We actually only booked on March 23. At that point they had a few lakeview rooms available.

fingers-crossed. I always loved staying in contemporary as a kid in the 80’s and 90’s. In the past few years I’ve always stayed offsite with my kids (usually rented a big house at reunion resort with lots of extended family and ubered to park), but we thought that during covid when we really don’t want to be in Ubers and park hours are limited , the convenience of being able to walk or take a quick monorail from CR to magic kingdom would be worth it. I’m just hoping that during the early morning and evening/nights we are at CR, it is not super noisy in our rooms.

Sounds like you’ll be among the last guests in the Tower, based on your dates. Pretty cool!

While I have not seen this language for CR’s work, Disney sometimes uses the phrase “noise will not be heard from dusk through 9am” on resort projects.

Obviously sometimes construction projects aren’t so precise in their execution, but generally speaking I doubt Disney is going to let things get really out of hand noise wise during off hours while the Tower is still partially occupied. That being said, they are certainly doing a lot of work at once, so tough to say that you won’t see/hear any impacts not to your liking during some part of your stay.

Despite the work occurring, I you enjoy your trip! Some of our favorite trips have been when resorts were partially closed for whatever reason. Always a unique time.

Yeah...actual noise like saws and hammers wouldn't (or SHOULDN'T) be prior to 9am, but the workers are not always great about being silent getting to their spot prior to that. And often deliveries of supplies happen early morning (at least they were when I was at the Poly in February), but they try to keep it to as quiet and away from guest areas as possible.

We’re staying in a bay lake view tower room in early May. We received a call from WDW letting us know that the theme park view rooms are going to be under refurbishment and possible construction noise from 9-5. We were told if that was an issue they would help in moving to another resort. We will not be in the room during that time so hopefully it will not be an issue.

How long do you wait on lines for busses?
Honestly I have cheated and stayed at YC and walked to Epcot and HS. Then move to CR or gf and do MK and AKl days, However prior to park opening up to 1st hour bus stops are generally busy. It looked like CR was doing a better job making lines vs a mass trying to guess where to go.

They also have added more dividers on the bus so more groups fit in,

Be early if it’s important to you.

This is the Contemporary tower, lake view room, correct? Not Bay Lake Tower, lake view? I haven't seen anything about Bay Lake Tower being refurbished and just want to be sure because we have BLT lake view villa booked for end of May.

I'm fairly certain that it is just the CR doing a refurb. The pictures are def of CR.

MK park hours for our June trip are posted as 8a-9pm. What time should we leave the resort (CR) to get ahead of the pack? I think we will walk in the AM, unless for some reason there's a greater advantage to taking the MR. We'd like to hot on SDMT as early as possible.

Sorry. Yes, the main tower.

Anyone know when the tower refurbishments are supposed to be completed? I was able to snag a Garden wing room for Memorial Day weekend but I would rather be in the tower if possible. I am wondering what my chances are of rooms opening up in the tower. I’m not picky on TPV or lake view but just would like to be in the tower for convenience. Thanks!

We were told as late as September.

I don't know the answer to your question, but we had a LV room reserved for June 13. We were moved.

I give up. What is the thing on the bathroom ceiling and wall? I feel like I should stand under it and turn the silver gizmo but I don’t want to be pulverized.

The photo is sideways. White is ceiling stripes are wall.

Is the silver thing the thing that pulls out into a line to hang towels???

If you mean the white thing with the little dome on it, it’s a motion activated night light. It shines green light just bright enough for you to see your way in the bathroom at night.
