As far as wishes fireworks ..we like watching from the balcony of BLT BUT you do miss seeing some of what I call the preshow of the castle and tinker bell flying down a wire (it may have changed by now.)

I will be a first time guest at BLT in September. Can all guests go up to the balcony to watch the fireworks or is it just DVC members only? Thanks!

I should clarify we watch from the balcony of our room. There is an observation deck on the fourth floor or maybe fifth floor at the walkway that connects BLT and contemporary. Hope this helps!

It does help. Thank you! Does anyone know about watching the fireworks from the top-level observation deck next to the bar?

Top of the World is the bar/observation deck on the top of BLT and is only open to DVC members and their guests. A reservation at the California Grill is another great way to get the roof top Wishes experience.

That is what I thought. Thanks for clarifying!

Do you think we should attend an additional EMH from 8-10 AM (very tempting since we are right there and have park hoppers!) on our EPCOT day, getting to EPCOT late to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours at MK first? We will be moving to BCV October 23-28, for 5 nights and have at least 1 full day and a couple of evenings at EPCOT for F&W and another full day at

I guess I'm just wanting to take advantage of MK EMH since we are so close. Is it worth a late start to EPCOT our first week, knowing that we will spend more time there our last 5 nights being close to EPCOT with park hoppers?

.

My two cents is that the MK EMH is the best EMH park, we always are able to get a lot done. It's definetly worth it to us, whereas I can't say that about every park. Probably due to the rides that participate.

Hi all! Just booked a BLT studio with TPV for the week after Thanksgiving! We are so excited, especially about the MK view. After reading through forum posts, I requested a room ending with 18 on the 8th floor or higher. My question is this - if we end up on a lower floor, how bad is it?

Hi you all! My family, including an 8 year old and 5 year old, 1st trip for a 12 night split stay at WDW ( plus an additional 6 nights at Universal b4 we get to WDW, including one evening at Disney Springs).

We will be at BLT TPV October 16-23, for 7 nights, attending 2 MNSSHP and one MK early close day from opening until 6pm. Do you think it is necessary to see Wishes in the park since we can see it (hopefully) from our room and being in the park for Hallowishes 2 nights? So, that means we will have 1 MK day(until 6, attending Hoop Dee Doo that evening) and 2 MK MNSSHP days 4- close. (Also, do you know if there is a Kiss Good Night on party nights)?

Split stay / BLT
2 MNSSHP & 1 MK DAY
1 EPCOT DAY
1 AK Day
1 Waterpark day
1 Disvovery Cove day

Split stay/BCV 5 nights
1 evening,1 morning at HS
1 EPCOT full day (plan on F&W for 4 evenings)
1 Any park day we choose, probably AK
1 day MK, last day

Also, is the MSEP worth seeing on our day off? Our day off is Discovery Cove followed by movie by the pool, Disney Springs or BOG and MSEP.

We love theme park view at BLT. In fact it's the only way we stay. Wishes is a fine show, and much of it is reliant on the projections on the castle. It is a fact of the show so I would certainly consider it. I will also mention this, Hallowishes and the Mickey's Christmas Party are AMAZING to watch from the room. You can see all of the perimeter shots at once and it really is fantastic. We typically watch from our room so we can hear the TV. So try and fit your water park day on one day when you can just hang out at the hotel that night and watch the show. On party nights the kiss good night (if they do it) won't be until like 1am. Quite long for a 5 year old. The party ends at midnight, and last year the last stage show started then, so the "activities" didn't end until 1220am!

I wouldn't plan the EMH at MK unless the kids are awake and ready to go. You have a lot of time to experience things multiple times.

We are staying tpv at CR 12/3-12/6 after our 7 night very Merrytime cruise. I had hoped that Mickey's Christmas party was on a Saturday (our chec in day) so we could relax, rent a boat for an hour, and have a leis I rely lunch before heading to MK.
It looks like the party is not on Saturdays which throws a kink in my plans. In your opinion is the view good enough that we could just come back from another park and watch it from balcony without going to MK that day?

I agree that parties aren't typically on Saturdays. I'm not entirely sure how much the view differs at CR against BLT. I would imagine though that you would at a minimum want to be outside on the balcony area. If you have the music piped in (I have also synced it with a youtube video) it is certainly doable. On our trips we do 4 park days, our last trip, the only night time show we ever saw was wishes of the Holiday Wishes. We missed fantasmic and illuminations. The holiday show is really fantastic and very enjoyable. You should be able to see them without issue. You can always check out wishes the first night and if the view isn't too fun, then you won't waste your time later in the week. Enjoy your cruise!

Congratulations on booking BLT. I think you and your family will love it. Did you book a 1-bedroom villa?

Missed thanking you on this thread, @rteetz - thank you for keeping us updated.

This change reflects a one hour reduction in hours with a new closure of 12:00.

Welcome and congratulations on booking! If you do end up with a floor that is too low for you, you can always ask about availability for a higher villa and also take a look at the lower villa they assigned you to see how you feel about it in person.

What a fun December! I'll add your dates to our Log-o-Rail. Are you talking about the Holiday Wishes fireworks? You can see all MK fireworks from all CR TPV rooms.

Thanks! What's a Log-O-Rail?
Unfortunately there is a HUGE hiccup in my plans :(. I had "held" the tpv tower room..and didn't put deposit yet bc part of me was still considering Poly. So here's what happened- my hold expired, and now apparently (a few days later) CR has imposed a 4 night minimum on standard tpv rooms!!!! I'm so upset!! I went ahead and booked a lake view, hoping to call back and get around the length of stay requirement- nope.
So now I'm left with these choices- upgrade to concierge- which I see 0 benefits doing. Or stay in BLT- which I don't want to do. Or- pay for the stupid extra night and just not use it. Or just keep my lake view room- which I don't see the point of.
I want to cry I'm so mad!!!

Interesting news about all the chef changes. Hopefully things work out. I remember last time they did that, it led to the head sous chef at Cali Grill getting the Exec Chef position at Yachtsman's, and we know how that turned out... Extremely well!! Hopefully there's some good culinary talent to go around this time, too. :)

I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm sad about Chef Brian. California Grill is probably our favorite restaurant and we've always been impressed with him and his menus. Fingers crossed the restaurant remains top notch. I only wish we had reservations for our upcoming trip in May!

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death at Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort.

Investigators say they think the person took their own life.

The incident happened Tuesday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Some viewers called News 13, saying the Disney World monorails were not running because of a crime scene at the resort.

A Disney spokesperson said everything was being handled by the Sheriff's Office. She also said the monorail system was now running.

Having our first Disney trip and we're staying in the 2 bedroom villa. It's only 4 of us, so we're definitely gonna love the space!

That sounds fabulous! That is a TON of room for 4, considering a 1-bedroom accommodates 5. You will love it!

Thanks! What's a Log-O-Rail?

The Log-o-Rail is in POST 2. It's a list of those who have booked stays at CR/BLT along with the dates of their stay.

Are they kidding? A 4-night minimum stay in the Tower?! What kind of booking is this? Is this a special package? Are you using any discount? For us, BLV is our favorite view at WDW, however, I understand that many love looking at the MK from their room. But under your set of circumstances, I wouldn't book it. If you have to have a TPV, I would either book BLT or GF.

So weird! I am booked in a TPV room and I believe it's only 3 nights! We're using the military discount too. Hmmm...I think I would look at what other options I could do if you're not happy with the lake view. I would be fundamentally opposed to paying for a night I'm not going to use.

No discount. Normal package with dining and tickets. I'm furious. The lake view would probably be fine other times, but after 7 nights on a cruise I really wanted the MK view, as well as to watch wishes in our pjs as we did at the Poly. I did not want to stay at BLT but it looks like I may not have another choice if want TPV. I might make a second reservation there, that would give me a little time to decide. But in doing that I don't want to prevent someone else from their vacation.

3 nights were available until a few days ago..I had a "hold" on one. Let that go while I was making final decision. Decided on CR tpv 2 days later and all of the sudden now it's 4 nights min. 12/3-12/6 show not available. 12/3-12/7 show available. Crazy
