Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Food and drinks are located in CR not BLT (unless you go to the pool bar/grille at BLT) so I would think that generally speaking CR would be more convenient. That being said we stayed at BLT last year and were on the 5th floor right near the skyway to CR-since that takes you right to the 4th floor concourse it was way more convenient than most rooms at CR.

We had a similarly located room and loved it! The location was so convenient, and we were able to run over to the concourse with minimal effort whenever needed. I had had my heart set on a lake view on the north side with the bit of MK view, but ended up really enjoying being on the south side for that reason. Not sure what to hope for on our upcoming trip.

I have an odd question. I've read many reviews that the elevators can be a problem in the tower (long waits, breaking frequently). Is this really an issue? I have no problem taking the stairs (and frankly sometimes I prefer it), but it sounded like this might not be an option. TIA!

We stayed in the tower in June 2014. We were on a lower floor (6th floor), so the problem with the elevators only occurred at busier times (meaning mainly morning). They were always full when they'd get to us. They'd picked up everybody on the upper floors by the time they got to us and were too full to take on more people. If you're on one of the top floors, it probably won't be much of an issue. Although we still said we wondered why they didn't have more elevators. It worked out fine though, as we just took the stairs most of the time. We happened to be the last room on the north end, Bay Lake view not Theme Park view, and the stairs were right outside our door. They are outdoors, meaning the door locks behind you so not an option when coming back to your room, but a quick workaround for slow/full elevators when you're trying to leave your room.

My trip is no longer a surprise to DS. He has autism and after showing him videos of places and rides to get a feel of what he would like to do and what to avoid, it was evident that he was getting anxious about whether or not we would be able to go and he was starting to just not want to go at all. So...he now knows. We have a countdown calendar (30 days...woohoo!) and I have made him some social story books which are just adding to his excitement. I have a few surprises still planned like a personalized card that he will receive in the mail and I have ordered some gifts to have in the room upon our arrival!

Ok, so we're at the World now, staying at the Poly, but we made a visit to CR tonight for California Grill. I know @WDWKOOK has had some varied experiences there, as have we. We've had some really good meals there and some terrible meals as well.

Tonight, OMG, it was fantastic. My wife had the Bell and Evans chicken, with puréed squash and bread pudding (that was really fancy stuffing), and I think it was the single best dish we've ever eaten in Disney World. Yes, Chicken. I had the Filet with tomato risotto, which was a really good dish, but thankfully the chicken was enough for me to have some, too. :) The apps were excellent as well. I had the Tuna Three Ways (I remember it being Four ways in the past... Cost cutting I suppose), but that was a winner, and DW had the romaine salad, and she loved it. We shared the banana fritters for dessert (even though we were stuffed), and those were great as well.

As you can tell, we really liked it. :) it'll be at the top of the list for our next monorail stay for sure.

We also just had a great experience at California Grill. Our server Yassine was fabulous, personable and professional. And for some reason...not sure why. We got a complimentary dessert! And those fireworks are hard to beat!

So we haven't stayed at the CR since 2012 when we were in a Bay Lake view room. Now we are booked for 10 nights in a Garden Wing, garden view room for mid-September. Have all of the rooms been refurbed since 2012? Are the Garden Wing rooms identical to the ones in the tower?

I didn't see anything about fishing on the Sammy Duvall website. Is that arranged thru the resort?

Hi all! Just decided to rent points for a 3-night stay in BLT (12/16-12-19) prior to our first ever DCL cruise.

Have never stayed at BLT, but stayed at CR in Dec and was surprised how much I loved it! We had LV in CR, which was beautiful. Booked BLT TPV (1 BR) for our upcoming trip to have views of Wishes, but now second-guessing TPV vs LV. I know it's totally subjective, but would love opinions on LV vs TPV from those who've stayed at BLT. For reference, it will be me, DH, DD (8), and my mom and adult sister. Thanks!

We stayed in the Tower last May, 11th floor, for the 24 hour day at MK
We had no issues with the elevators at any time during our trip. No long waits, always got on and no break downs.
The only issue we had was trying to get back on the monorail after we took a break on the 24 hour day. That was a nightmare. But also an unusual situation.
I'm booked there again next month for my Mom's first ever trip. I requested the same floor again.

Yes, the GW rooms have the same decor as those in the tower.

I just booked a TPV in the tower for December after our cruise. I LOVED our tpv at the Poly, but didn't want to pay their prices for that week, and am hoping that we won't be distracted by the parking lot on this trip!lol I'm interested to see responses to your question.

The parking lot is EXACTLY what I'm worried about too!

Was the lagoon view nice? Can you see the castle at all from it?

It's a view of Bay Lake. From CR we could see the lake and the pool, plus Illuminations off to the side, but no castle. It was beautiful though and very peaceful. I've read that some of the lake view rooms at BLT have side views of MK and the castle though.

So will I not be able to see the electrical water pageant from my room? Where do you view it from?

I believe the EWP can be seen from rooms on both sides, but hopefully someone else can clarify. We definitely saw it from our lake view room. It was really close! I think you can also watch it from the beach at CR.

We didn't notice the parking lot at all
The placement of MK makes it so you look right over the parking lot, not at the parking lot. I'm sure that sounds confusing but it really isn't one you see it

You can see it from the beach for sure.

First of all- I LOVE your picture!!
As for the EWP- I'm confused. The main reason I booked a TPV was so we can order room service one night and watch the water pageant and fireworks in our pjs. But at CR we would have to go to the beach to watch it, and then back up to room for Wishes?
