Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Thanks!! I will have an 18 month old who is a climber so I will be on high alert (I am seriously irrational about this). I want to see the monorail, but I guess maybe not from so high up. Oh goodness. I pretty much hug the walls when I'm high up. Husband refuses to not stay CL so 12th floor is non-negotiable. Maybe I should move to GF! Oh Disney phone CM's would love to process yet another resort change I'm sure.

Also, the monorail view will depend on which side you're on. If you're on the theme park view side, the monorail will be running underneath you, so you won't really be able to see it looking down from the hallway in front of your room.

Does BLT provide the service of stocking our room with some pre-ordered items? I read an older blog somewhere that said the Contemporary would do this for a $10 fee (don't know if they still do). Would be worth it for me! :)
I don't know if BLT offers a service to stock your room, but did want to offer up the services of Garden Grocer if not. They will deliver right to the hotel, and the CMs can keep cold items cold until you are ready to have them delivered. We've used them multiple times, and found their prices cheaper than the resorts.

I have read many great things about Garden Grocer, but because we're Canadian, I don't believe there's any way that we can sign up with them. :sad1:

The hallways are quite wide (can fit a little more than 3-4 normal sized people across) with the side raillings about 5' high and about 1' wide. You can see the edges from a distance but not close up unless you go to look over the edge (or are really tall!) :D

Found this on YouTube that should give you an idea -

I noticed the mickey wreath was up on the contemporary. I hope that the last few years have been so they can reprepare it and put it up this year!

@monkyby87 - it's super fast. You'll make it there in probably 4-5 minutes if you're a slow walker. Follow the red bricks into the main lobby, up two escalators and you're at the monorail.

Thanks! On a somewhat related note, I read there are also some monorail closures going on currently. Our stay would be January 30 - February 2. What are these monorail closures or schedule changes?

That's perfect everybody, thanks! Looks like the monorail won't interfere too much, as we'll be there largely over the weekend.

Question.

We have reservations at the contemporary - first time staying there. We plan on hitting the MK before check in time, at rope drop if we can manage (we are Florida residents).

So I understand that we will have a parking pass for the contemporary, but will we get that early and park in their lot or not until we check in or ...??? My basic plan is to park and hit the MK and not go to the hotel until after 4pm for rest. I know there is online check in but I don't know where to park.

Thanks.

:flower1:We're checking in soon! Does anyone know if we can add days to our park tickets at the BLT check -in desk? Or do we have to hike over to the Contemporary?

Ok I think I answered my own question. You can check in early and leave your bags and get your check in information which probably includes your parking pass.

Two more questions: how busy should I expect the desk to be at 7:30 am on a Friday?

And: if I want to request a king bed, when should I do that and how likely do you think it is to be honored?

Thanks

I wouldn't expect a crowd at the front desk at 7:30am. I'd call and add the bed request to your reservation now with WDTC and then if you have it as an option at online check in you can select it then.
