Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

I'm currently booked with the DDP and am now seriously considering eliminating it with our change to a CL room. We'll likely have some breakfast in the lounge every morning and tons of snacks and drinks (especially the adult version) after our days in the parks. Knowing part of the cost was going towards snacks and desserts we either didn't use or didn't need always made me question the value of the DDP in the past. However, we have historically opted in due to the convenience factor. I'm now thinking I can probably do better than the DDP paying for meals OOP and taking full advantage of the CL snacks and drinks every day.

I would definitely drop the DDP. The breakfast at CR includes ham, cheese, and deviled eggs. Daytime snacks are light. Evening snacks are enough for a light appetite, or a light dinner/snack later on. Save your money.

Arrived and in garden wing :) we got rooms where we requested over looking the lake so really pleased. Any questions please ask x

Thanks Nut! Yes, we're looking forward to trying the CL experience as well. The photos I've seen of the snacks/drinks that appear at various times during the day look awesome. I'll definitely provide a full report when we get back - no problem. :thumbsup2

You're welcome! Looking forward to your report :goodvibes.

As far as the DDP and CL.....we enjoy the DDP not only for the convenience factor, but it works for us. We always do a TS dinner every night of our trips whether we stay CL or not and while the food offerings can sometimes serve as a meal (if you are a light eater), they don't work for my DH and DSs as they need actual meals. With that said, if you think you will be taking full advantage of the offerings and not need full meals, dropping the DDP might be a good idea ;).

How are you doing? Senior year is moving along fast - the first quarter ends this week. DD applied Early Decision so it's good to be finished with that. Made our Christmas reservations, but it's not at WDW so I don't want to go too OT, but do you have any holiday plans?

Hi KOOK.....things here are good, thanks. I can't believe it's almost time for your DD to graduate! Hope everything is going well with the graduation/open house planning :goodvibes.

No going away holiday plans, just spending the time at home with family and friends. How exciting to be planning a Christmas getaway! Where are you going? Are you going over Christmas/New Years? Hope the planning for that is going well :).

Thanks for checking in. Hope you're having a great time! :wizard:.

I'm curious to know if a discount does come out will we be able to apply to our CR garden wing room? Or is that a type of room that won't be allowed to attach a discount to?

I've seen GW rooms offered with discounts in the past, so as long as it's available under the discount, you can have it applied. With that said, if a discount is offered for your dates you might want to call as soon as the promo is released as the GW rooms go fast since they are (usually) the cheapest option for a monorail resort.

Right now we have 5 days and 5 nights, dining plan and park hopper for $4500.00 at the CR GW. Seems like a fair rate already during the week of memorial day. However, a discount would help tremendously.

Hello CR friends! Gearing up for our first CR stay in a few weeks (we've previously stayed GF). Would anyone happen to know how much a case of water bottles and a gallon of water costs at the CR store? I am trying to figure out if it's worth it to have water shipped from Amazon to the resort or if I should just bite the bullet and buy a case or some jugs there.

Also, we're staying Garden view, Garden wing. How many minutes longer the walk to MK is from the garden wing than from the tower? I'm a fast walker, but I have two kids with me.

Lastly, and this is not important at all, but I'm curious if the deluxe resorts still have the same little H2O shampoos and whatnots they have had the last few years. I loved them and every day our mousekeeper would leave new ones, even if we didn't need them. By the time we checked out, I had a dozen little shampoos and soaps to take home and we'd use them all year--the scent always reminded me of our beloved resort! I thought I read a few months ago that there was a switch to a different kind of product or sized bottle.
Thanks in advance!
Yes, you will get daily H2O refills.

And the walk is about 2 minutes longer from the GW. With kids. :)

Enjoy your stay!!

The Dasani cases should be $6.39.

It's good to be all done with the application process and I think she gets longer breaks in college which equates to more potential WDW trips;). Only going over Christmas to a "colorful" resort in WV;)

Hope everyone has a "sweet" weekend!

Just booked 5 days in February at the contemporary! Super excited.

I've got a good racket going on with my family and I've convinced them that booking Disney vacations are hard work so my family asks me to plan and my son and I get to go, with discounted lodging as my planning fee!! So CR is my dream resort that I would never pay for myself! Super excited.

It's presidents weekend which I know will be busy, but...I would rather busy WDW than just about anywhere else!

I am not sure if I am allowed to do this, but I posted the best of my video's from my visit in September to the Contemporary onto You Tube.

We saw a TON today on top of the GW building near the lake. Weird.

My relative said, "there were hundreds, thousands!" So I got the impression there were a lot.
She asked the CMs about it because her balcony got really dirty. They said it happens infrequently. Someone cleaned her balcony pretty quickly.

Sounds like a decent price, but I agree that a discount would be nice ;).

Yes, longer breaks in college is a nice perk for more WDW trips ::yes::.

Hope you have a great Christmas trip to WV :goodvibes.

New Refillable Mugs Rolling Out Across Walt Disney World Resorts

Still not a resort-specific mug like in the good ol' days, but at least this new mug references some resorts and has CR on it!

I wish they'd bring back the resort specific mugs, but these are very cute :goodvibes.

Welcome and congratulations on booking. I like your racket;)

I think the birds have been there at least since…forever. They love to perch high atop CR and BLT. There are tons of them over on Discovery Island and I think they travel back and forth. The vultures cover the trees between Bay Lake and the GW that fronts Bay Lake and they perch on the roof. I feel like I'm in Hitchcock's The Birds when I jog past that area early morning.

It's really hard to tell, but there's a big vulture on the roof and many in the tree to the far left:

Hi, I just have a question about sending packages to the CR. I know there is a charge for it (I'm ok with that) and the mailroom is run by a 3rd party company.

I just want to know how strict they are about only holding packages for only 3 days. I think is very hard to perfectly time the package to arrive during that window...If it were a couple of days over the stated 3 day window (hypothetically) would they still hold on to the package or return to sender?

Hi, getting very excited for our stay at BLT next week!! We are in a 1 bedroom. Can anyone tell me about the chair sleeper? Specifically, would it be good for a toddler? DD2 still is in a crib at home, but is too big for a travel crib or pack n play. Thanks!!

We're planning on putting our 12 yr old son in the chair sleeper. My daughters will share the foldout bed. He'd rather be slightly uncomfortable than sleep with his older sister. Lol.
