Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Can any club level experts let me know how long you have access on check-out day and how early we can use it on check-in day? We’ll be at MK the day we check out and are planning to pop back over to CR for a break and maybe some pool time - could we still use the club after checkout time?

How is the lounge around fireworks time? Is it feasible to get a spot on the balcony - DH and I have enjoyed the fireworks from CA Grill a few times in the past, but we’ll have the kiddos with us so the lounge seems like it might be a better option for this trip :)

We’ve currently got a Garden Wing room booked, but I got to thinking how we’d really like the be in the tower, then after that upgrade club level didn’t seem like that much more (gotta love Disney math!)
You can access the lounge starting at 7am on arrival day, and use it until 10pm on check out day. (Though probably no room access before normal check-in or after check-out hours.)

Yes, you can watch fireworks on the lounge balcony. There will probably be other people there, but sometimes we've had it to ourselves, other times it was fairly full of people. The food service ENDS promptly at 10pm though- as in everything is cleared by 10pm. It is best to arrive by 9:30pm if you want any food or drinks.

Checking in for a night at the end of the month. How early do ppl line up at the pool to get seats with shade? We just returned from a one night stay at YC/BC and got in line around 9:30am to get shaded spots at SAB. We will have CL at CR so we will eat breakfast before going down to get our pool spots.

Also, we noticed when booking, it said that the resort shares the amenities with BLT. Does that mean CR can use the BLT pool too? We've stayed at CR before and only used the CR pool.
We just left yesterday. During our week long stay the pool was very busy from morning until night except during rain. If you want seats in shade and it's still crazy hot then like it's been, I'd be there when it opens or really close to it. The tables with umbrellas at the bullseye pool last a little longer, but not by much. Stuff will open up throughout the day but it seemed like there was always someone ready to take a turn.
Tower and GW can't use the DVC pool.

FYI WDW appears to be tweaking/changing lounges and discounts. Steakhouse 71 Lounge is no longer doing ANY discounts and the discounts are only valid in the restaurant. The bartenders were extremely apologetic and seemed unhappy it was changed.

California Grill Lounge still took AP discount but it may change soon.

Having found the answer to my last question, this is one that's probably a bit 'how long is a piece of string'.

We are going in October, for 10 nights, booked into a Garden Wing Garden View. I know room categories have changed but it was clear in the email our booking category would be honoured.

Its me, the wife and two kids (9 and 7). Does anyone have any particular do's or don'ts for room requests? I'm guessing that with a long stay it's harder to meet those than if you are just there a couple of nights.

My instinct was to go ground floor, and one of the North/North-East facing rooms that look towards the pool and are close to the lobby. My only concern is the NE facing ones all show as "transfer shower" on touring plans and really with the kids we want a regular tub or shower (I'm not entirely sure what the bathroom set up is). So I think the 'true-North' facing row might be best.

Or alternatively the the East facing rooms that look out over the water. I know this are a bit of a walk from the lobby but in the grand scheme of things it's not that far. I have read in some places issues with mosquitos/bites along that bit of water though?

We won't be in the room loads but ground floor seems useful for a bit of additional space given the higher floors don't have balconies.

Anyone have a garden room area they wouldn't miss?

I was there earlier this month and had room 6314 - third floor garden wing. It has a wonderful view of the water and I enjoyed watching the water pageant at night and all the boats during the day. There's a walk in shower (no tub). With it being July and was there when there were unusually hot days (feels like 109 - ouch) - I rarely opened the sliding door. There isn't a screen there so bugs do get in if you do. I wouldn't have sat outside on a balcony if I had it either lol! The rooms below me had a patio on the first floor. It was a bit of a hike to the room but mostly inside. I don't have little kids anymore so I wouldn't want the pool view. There's a short cut if you go out one of the doors towards the parking lot and walk towards the walkway to the building - but you're outside. I just stayed in the hotel hallway for the a/c. The parking there was very convenient if you have a car.

So far all I have seen is the garden rooms all have a shower(Posts here) . I did stay in a std and a garden both had showers. I have stayed in the main tower and those rooms mostly tub/shower combo. After doing both rooms several times I can say the issue is the GW rooms bath just a little smaller so the new tubs didn’t fit so they just did a shower.

I do prefer a 1st floor for outdoor space.

There are so many different views I would say 1st choice 1st floor then 2nd choice the “facing”. It’s just tricky for the assignor to accommodate everything, However it is worth asking , how else will they know what you want?

I walked all around in April. It’s not far really for everything really.

We've stayed in the garden wing 3x. Once facing parking lot which was ok (very short walk to lobby, could watch monorail).

The next time we were facing the pool, we didnt care for because it was kind of loud. But still had a great stay.

Then we stayed water view first floor and loved it! Sat outside at night for the pageant and pretty view day and night.

Thanks all, other than subscribing to touring plans, what's the easiest way to put the request in (we're from the UK if it makes a difference) - just call Disney Holidays and ask them to put a note on your booking?

I have used Touring Plans many times and I usually get my request ..I believe there was one or two time I did not .Or you can call them like you mentioned. Disney is pretty good in giving out your request if the room type/category is available. Good luck. The Cotemporary is one of our favorites!

Hi! We are staying at the Contemporary for the first time for just one night at the end of August in a Garden Wing room. Can anyone answer a few questions?

-Do all rooms sleep 5? We are currently booked in a 2 queen and 1 daybed and want to know if we'd definitely get one as 3 people.
-Any recommendations on room requests? We'll be going into MK for the evening so reducing walking time is good
-Water view is only a few dollars more than resort view - is it worth it? Does one give you a closer location to lobby than the other?

Are there electric car charging stations at the Contemporary? We have a week stay in October and will have a Tesla that will need charging and I am wondering how difficult that will be.

You will want to download the ChargePoint app in advance to see the nearby available charging locations around WDW. The Theme parks have the most chargers. I know the Wilderness Lodge has ChargePoint chargers in the main parking lot.

There are king rooms but so few you shouldn’t be assigned one. It’s currently a booking category so the chance of getting one now is slim.

If you request close to lobby you’d have less walking.

The water views would probably have more steps but it’s not a huge amount IMO.

The only outdoor space is 1st floor which have a patio.

I always check Google maps and look around the resort to get my bearings.

Disney doesn’t tell you exactly where there categories are but the map does give you a feel of where you’d see water.

Disney seems to be lacking in this area. I know there are some at the parking garages at DS.

I booked the contemporary for october 2024, and the room category i chose was "resort view - king - club level" Which says it could have views of MK or bay lake...Is this accurate?? I really want tower club level and my husband only wants theme park view (I could save a bit of money by booking just theme park view - no club level...but I really want to stay on the 14th floor.) From what I read the standard view - king - club level is theme park view - but it seems that category was reworded to resort view. If it really is theme park view, thats great I'll keep my reservation, If not i think i might have to just do theme park view, no club level to appease my other half.

The atrium club on the 12th floor is club level and there you can book resort view (former lake view) or theme park view. You could get club level and a guaranteed theme park view on the 12th floor. I’m not familiar with tower club so I can’t answer your question about those views—I’m sure lots of others in here will be able to answer though.
