Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

I'm all caught up and now I have a few questions.

1) We're booked GW, GV and I would love a view of the water, hopefully where the parade goes by at night. Is there a certain way to request this when I call?

2) We're arriving by rental car (staying with family near Tampa before WDW) but returning it on arrival day. What is the best way to do this? Have my husband drop us off at the CR, then drive back to the car care center? He can get a shuttle back, correct?

Just want to give a big thanks to KOOK for all the information. :worship: I became a WL "expert" thanks to your thread there, and now I'm working my way up to expert level here. I was a bit bummed to be leaving WL, since I chose that one specifically. But the construction drama was getting to me and I just want my Disney magic, darnit! This thread has really gotten me excited for our stay. I also booked an ADR at Trail's End so I can still visit the Wilderness area.

IceSkatingPrincess, thanks for the info!!! Do you think that it makes a difference to call Disney direct versus working through a travel agent? (I am still on the fence about using a travel agent. I know exactly when we want to go, what Resort we want, and now, thanks to you, what specific room we want. I am willing to book at the 499 day mark and will be making my own air travel arrangements -- and I feel perfectly comfortable making my own FP+ and ADR ressies)

And one other question: did they have chocolate croissants at breakfast by any chance? (that would make my DW very happy!)

I'm not one for using a TA, personally. I'm frankly too much of a control freak. So I wouldn't but that is just me.

I *think* they had some chocolate filled pastry things. I know they had normal croissants at AKL CL and I think here too. We ate so much it's hard to remember what was where! haha

I took these pictures of room 4912 (king room) in the Tower Club this week.

I booked the standard room king club level could this be one of the 2 rooms on this floor that I will get?

This was exactly what I was hoping for.

You need to call to book it and ask specifically for the king room in the tower club. There are only 2 of them and they cannot be booked online. Only 4912 has the awesome walk in shower and the tub shower combo. I wish I could have taken that bathroom home with me!

Thanks for sharing all your pics! Last October, DH & I were booked in a king room, tower club, but upon check-in we were magically upgraded to a 2 BR suite which I have to say will go down as THE BEST upgrade/stay we've ever had :). Cannot wait for our upcoming CL stay and having a TPV for the very first time....

Kindly ignore or enjoy, some very random CR photos I need to post. The new forum software only allows up to 10 attachments per post, which is causing a problem for me when I try to add more than 10 to my thread chapters that I'm revising with April photos. Since I'm not reposting the thread, I'm limited to 18 posts with 10 attachments each to work with. I think/hope I figured out a work around though. If the photos are already posted on the DIS and I just paste them in, then they aren't considered attachments. At least I hope this works…

I am enjoying them :goodvibes.

The work around worked and, added extra work, but at least I was able to add more photos to each chapter:). I'll probably have to do this again soon so thank you for your patience with my random photo posting.

Love all of the pics, thanks for sharing :flower3:.

My 1 night stay has been extended to 3, thanks to my DH's kindness! He has to leave after 1st night, and I was going to move to Pop for 2 nights with our 3 kids, but he decided convenience is the way to go! I am so happy my first stay will be a bit longer! 7/24-7/27. We are in FL already.

Yay for all 3 nights at the CR :yay:. Have a great time!

Just want to give a big thanks to KOOK for all the information. :worship:

I second this :thumbsup2. KOOK is a wealth of information and is a great thread moderator ::yes::.

Me and my DH will be staying in Atrium Club a Magic Kingdom view October 24-31, celebrating our 25th anniversary, we are very excited, haven't been in 3 years.

What a great way to spend your anniversary :wizard:.

Booked through orbitz and upgraded to a tower bay lake view for $500 LESS than the garden wing I had reserved, plus I received about $150 in orbucks and 60 cash back through ebates! ! :yay:

:cool1::cool1:

Just booked a magical deal for Labor Day weekend, just me and my sister and our DDs. Leaving the boys at home!! So excited! Please add us to the logorail - Sept 5-7 GW :)

How exciting!! Have a great trip :wizard:.

Hello

Can I be added to the vacation log, we are now staying at the contemporary due to construction at the Wilderness lodge. We will be there 28th Oct 2015 - Nov 8th 2015 staying in Garden Wing - Garden View room.

I have a few questions if anyone can help :)

1. Is there a boat from the contemporary to MK?
2. Where can you refill mugs at the contemporary
3. The walk way between MK and Contemporary, Is this lit up? at night.
4. Can anyone staying at the resort go on the wishes viewing platform or is this just for those in the resturant?

I am sure I will have plenty more questions soon.

Welcome! I haven't stayed at CR yet, I can tell you that you walk CR to MK. No need for any kind of transport since the walk is very short. There is no boat unless you boat to WL or FW and over to MK. You could monorail, but it goes around the long way and makes stops.

Refill your mug at Contempo Cafe.

There is a Wishes viewing balcony on the 4th floor. The one at California Grill is for dining guests only.

I love WL and am looking forward to our stay at CR too!

Thank you so much in answering my questions :) We are going to fort wilderness for the hoop de do review so the boat will be handy for that. I am sad we are not staying at WL but happy with the change to contemporary and sure that once construction is done we will go there in the future.

I'm a WL refugee as well. ;) Definitely go back and check out the first few pages. The information is kept up to date by the wonderful KOOK of the WL thread fame, so you should find most of your answers there. Plus it will get you excited for the Contemporary. I know I needed a boost of confidence that I was doing the right thing and that I would be happy.

I am getting through the pages and getting so excited xx

Can anyone help in room requests for Garden Wing - Garden View rooms?

We requested a ground floor/patio so we could have outdoor space. I also asked for a water view, and ended up with partial views of both the pool and the lagoon. Canal views are beautiful too.

Thank you :) how do we put in a room request, do they have an email?

If you booked through Disney direct, you can call them to add your requests. If you booked through a TA, they will need to add them. I like to note any requests at booking, then call a few days before I arrive to confirm. You can also select patio during your online check in, but not the water view.
