Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Hi we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel next summer. I know it's an entirely different resort but there's no DL CL thread that I'm aware of. Just curious if anyone has stayed there recently and can tell me if you're able to take beer and wine from the E-Ticket lounge out to the pool. Thanks!

We got back last night from 5 nights at The Contemporary CL. I didn't take any pictures, but will still give a run down of our stay.

*We LOVED it and have already booked a bounce back for next year. This was our 3rd CL stay (other stays were at YC and GF).
*Although the resort doesn't have fantastic theming or grandeur like some of the other resorts, the convenience to everything and the restaurants/amenities were top notch.
*We ate breakfast every morning in the lounge and it was very hearty. They had bacon every day, which I loved. Most mornings I had bacon and oatmeal. My DH sampled more of the offerings - he really liked the cheesy potatoes.
*2 days housekeeping was just getting to our room as we got back in the afternoon, so we sat in the lounge for 20 minutes while the finished. We had a couple cookies from the afternoon offerings - they were delicious.
*We had dinner reservations most nights, but still got a couple snacks from the evening offerings. Lots of shrimp based dishes, which I really liked. It was really nice that beer and wine were self serve and they let you take a couple unopened beers to your room for the fridge there (at Yacht Club they had to take the lid off when they gave it to you, so you couldn't really save them for later).
*The staff was always really nice and did a great job of remembering things about us (ex. as we were going out, they asked where we were heading for dinner and then the next morning, that CM asked how we enjoyed California Grill).
*The only tiny problem we had was that the battery in our safe died, but I called Housekeeping and someone from maintenance was there in 10 minutes to change them out.
*We had requested a King room, but there is only one TPV CL room, so I knew our chances of getting it were slim. We had a 2 Queen room and it was fine.
*The only thing I really didn't like about the room was the bathtub/shower. I am short and Pooh shaped. The tub was very deep and had the metal lip on the top for the sliding door - It was a challenge to swing my legs up and over into the shower. The tub was also VERY slippery, so I ended up putting a hand towel in the tub when I was getting in/out to keep from slipping.
*On our Pool Day, we rented a Cabana at the Leisure pool. It was worth every penny. We spent the entire day down there. The rental included a fridge full of soft drinks/water, a huge fruit tray and a bakery box with sweet treats. We had a server that came around pretty often that we got bar drinks and a burger for lunch from.
*We ate at California Grill one night and Steakhouse 71 one night. Both were very good. We spent a hour or so at The Outer Rim for some drinks and they were great. The only thing I didn't like at The Outer Rim was that people used it as overflow seating for The Contempo Cafe and it made it hard to find seating.

Sorry for the giant wall of text. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for the review. Glad you had such a good time. Were you in the Atrium Club or the Tower Club on 14th?

Thanks for the review of your recent stay at the CR Atrium CL.

The tub was also VERY slippery, so I ended up putting a hand towel in the tub when I was getting in/out to keep from slipping.
As a reminder to everyone you should be able to request a plastic suction mat for the tub from mousekeeping.

The only thing I didn't like at The Outer Rim was that people used it as overflow seating for The Contempo Cafe and it made it hard to find seating.
Yes the guests on the Chief Mickey's walk-up list and the Contempo Cafe do tend to clog up the seating in the Outer Rim. Did you have a chance to try the Steakhouse 71 lounge?

Thanks I had no idea that suction mats were available. I will definitely do that next time.
We did spend some time at the Steakhouse 71 lounge one night the drinks and service there were top notch too.

I stayed at CR CL - Atrium club end of July/beginning of August. I swear our room had just a shower (not a tub/shower combo). I asked my husband and he remembers the same. We had an 2 queen room, resort view. Are the rooms not all configured the same?

I doubt you would be happy in the King room. It is room 4839 and is located right next to the lounge. It can be a noisy location in the morning and at night.

I didn’t want to post this while we were still at YC, but we had another incident there Friday night. We were in a room with the connecting door. We had heard the neighbors a few times, but nothing disruptive. Late Friday night, maybe 12:15-12:30, we were woken up when they came in. Heard loud voices, some arguing, talking about Jellyrolls. So I figured, great, Food & Wine & a bar on a Friday night. But it got worse than that. The loud voices continued off & on so we were not able to sleep too soundly. At 2:30, it got really loud. This was an adult daughter & her mother arguing, not a couple. It continued for almost another hour, the daughter getting louder, crying & getting more upsetting to listen to. Anyway, when I heard “Don't touch me” yelled really loudly, I had enough. I called the front desk & reported what was going on. (Yes, I know it’s a call center, but it was almost 3:30, I was exhausted & struggling to see the phone without my glasses.) Security was there in about 5-10 minutes & things got quiet after that. And about half hour after that, I heard more loud knocking in the hall & someone calling out “Sherrif’s officer”. So actual law enforcement showed up too.

I don’t know if they were leaving anyway the next day or asked to leave. But we heard them leaving the room around 7 am Saturday & never heard anything from that room again. I know waaay too much about this family, the daughter’s mental health & PTSD issues & things the mother & her boyfriends were doing when the daughter was young. I maybe should have called sooner, but my husband is a Don’t Get Involved type person. It’s also something I’ve never had happen before. And hope never to again. It was quite a memorable stay at YC this time.

So scary. Sorry that happened to you. I probably would have called sooner, but it's hard to know what to do in that case. Glad they took care of it quickly when you called.

It sounds terrible, but it really was the don’t touch me that sealed it. Noise is bothersome, but when I heard what was sounding like physical issues, my mind immediately went to what if the person has a gun. Not only the people in the room would be in danger, but so would we. You’re screened going into the parks, but not the resorts. I’m not a paranoid person. I worked in an urban hospital for over 40 years that put me in potentially dangerous situations. But I’ve gottten smarter & sadly, the world has gotten crazier.

I am glad you did and even happier that Disney took charge and booted them.

When I was at POFQ in May I heard loud arguing in Spanish next door that steadily got worse, including some bad language. I was ready to call someone but I asked the housekeeper about it and it turned out she was watching tv. She giggled at me.

Wondering if this thread can help me make a decision. Didn't know whether to post here or DVC AKV thread but here goes:

- Currently have 7 nights in an AKV Concierge studio. I had MS split the reservation into 3 and 4 nights. We tend to like doing split stays and were thinking that 7 nights may be too much so we split it.

- 7 month is coming up in a few days for the first 3 night reservation. Looking at what's available, many of the rooms at the other resorts are not too far off points wise from the Concierge. Something like BWV which we like to stay in would save some points but moving to Poly or GFV (which we also love) would be about the same points and no lounge!

So a couple of questions...

1) Is 7 nights too much for our first foray into the world of Disney lounges? Does it severely prohibit park time if you're trying to use it at max value?

2) Assuming 7 month availability is the same for the 3 night and 4 night reservation...which one maximizes the lounge use? Meaning when you get there...check out day...all that. I feel like you guys have all the tricks and tips down for that.

3) This is the week preceding Easter...if I'm set on split staying is it a bad idea to wait for the later reservation closer to Easter? Will the 7 month availability be worse than earlier in the week for the three night res? What I'm afraid of is if I wait till the second res and nothing is available then I'm stuck in the concierge the whole time (and yes I know how that sounds very first world problem lol).

Not really sure which way to take this and only have a few days to make a plan!

Hmm a personal decision on length and how you prioritize CL lounge time vs park time. Will you be making ADR selections for dinner or would the lounge offerings be enough for your group? Do you tend to stay late at the parks?

They would be the same since you have CL lounge access from the time you arrive until 10 PM on your check-out day. It would be helpful to know your park plans for your 7 days.

This would help to determine if you want to focus on a slower pace and enjoy the Breakfast and Evening offerings. I don't put much weight on the afternoon offerings unless you just happen to be at the resort for a break or pool time. Are you a rope-drop group or would you take time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and miss the 30 minute EE window?

What I'm afraid of is if I wait till the second res and nothing is available then I'm stuck in the concierge the whole time (and yes I know how that sounds very first world problem lol).
The period around Easter is always busy so make a decision and stick with it. DVC CL access is limited to the AKL and are normally quite hard to come by for most.

Not really sure which way to take this and only have a few days to make a plan!
The closer to Easter the busier the parks will be so if you choose a split stay. I would vote for having your AKL DVC CL stay later in your visit and focus on park time for the first 3-4 days before the crowds ramp up.
