...Continued from previous post...POLY CL Room 3501

The storage in this room was really great. Aside from the two closets there was a nightstand between the beds with 2 small drawers. And, there was this bureau with 6 drawers (the drawers are bigger than they look in this pic):

Here is the desk area when we first moved in. You may notice that there is a little table under the desk:

DSC_6160.jpg

After we unpacked our suitcases, we moved the table into the corner to hold our empty luggage. This worked well for us:
DSC_6137.jpg

We kept a garbage bag in the bottom of one of the closets for dirty laundry. As we filled a garbage bag with dirty items, we would just move in into the empty luggage. We were pretty packed by the time our final day arrived!

Here is the chair in the room. It is showing a bit of wear, but is was pretty comfortable!
DSC_6116.jpg

The bathroom was more than big enough and came stocked with lots of good H2O stuff! We like having one big bathroom rather than the set-up in other resorts with a tiny bathroom with sinks outside the bathroom area.

Here is the room looking backwards (towards the entrance) from the balcony area. Again, keep in mind, this is day 6 of a 7-day trip. The storage in this room kept us really tidy, even with two teenagers!!:

A few more pics and some final thoughts on this room in the next post...stay tuned...

...Continued from previous post...POLY CL...Room 3501. I forgot to mention earlier that this room is categorized as a Theme Park View Room.

My final thoughts on this room:

Overall we really loved it, but let me get a few of the cons out of the way. Because this room was right next to the 3rd floor lounge entrance and the elevator, it did get a little noisy in the morning when we were sleeping. I am always amazed that parents will let their kids run LOUDLY down a hotel hallway at 7:00 in the morning. Most mornings there were kids shouting and talking quite loudly outside of our door. There were even adults that would congregate outside the lounge entrance and at the elevator at all hours of the morning and talk at full volume. Geez. They are either inconsiderate, clueless, or both. I've always taught my kids to walk and speak softly in a hotel hallway, no matter the time of day. I really wish other guests were more considerate at times. On the subject of noise, there was one other thing we disliked about this room. Very early in the morning we would ofter hear glasses CLANKING right outside our door. My guess is that Mousekeeping used the area outside the lounge to stack glasses and such on their carts for the rooms.

One more small con: The EWP was lovely but it was ridiculously loud. They need to turn down the volume on it about 10 notches! I can't imagine the poor people that have little kids sleeping when it floats by!

OK...glad I got those things off my chest! Here are all the great things we loved about this room:

** Mousekeeping was excellent. They came and went without us even noticing. No matter what time of day we were out of the room, they always snuck in and tidied up when we were gone. They never once knocked on our door or came when we were in the room. We were diligent about keeping the Room Occupied sign up when we were in the room.

** Proximity to the Lounge: Despite the noise that came with this room, we loved the closeness to the lounge. It was so easy to grab a drink or snack anytime we wanted it! It almost felt like the lounge was part of our room (in a good way!)

** The view! I really think this room has one of the best (if not the best) views of all the rooms in the Hawaii building. Because it is on the 3rd floor, we had a fantastic sweeping view and a full balcony. As this room is right next to the lounge, it has a view that is very similar to the lounge view, just one floor higher! The view was not obstructed at all by the bungalows. Here is the view from inside the room:

We LOVED watching the fireworks from the room. The audio on the speakers was a bit "off" (garbled) but overall fine. The view was AWESOME!!!

I hope you enjoyed all the pictures (sorry if there were too many!) We had a fantastic time at the Poly. This was our second time staying Poly CL TPV and we just love it! Let me know if you have any specific questions. I took a few Poly Lounge photos that I'll share later when I have time!

Thanks for the review, you can never post too many photos! I want to stay at the Poly now for sure. I have to agree about the noisy kids I also told mine to be quiet in the hallways especially early in the morning and late at night.
Your views were spectacular!

We check into BC CL Sept. 2, I would love to hear your feed back as well as your room request, I am worried we will be stuck far far away.
I will definitely try to remember to get back to you. We booked a standard room CL. We always book standard room when we are at Beach Club because we always go in August and the last thing we want to do when we go back to our room is to spend time outside on the balcony with the heat.(ETA: I realize that room category doesn't affect whether or not you get a balcony. What I meant was we're just happy to be at Beach Club and room view doesn't mean much to us as we don't sit out on balcony, so we just book standard view). Even if we get a balcony, we never use it. This is our first CL stay coming up and I noticed that a lot of the rooms near the lounge are standard view, so I am hopeful to get a room close to the lounge. This is one of the things that I really like about Disney resorts - they are all so different and you can pick the resort and room type that you like best, whether it's a resort near Epcot or a resort with a view of the MK fireworks.

Since Yacht club is a dog friendly resort and Disney has decided to extend the program; do they allow dogs on the club level floor? I’m asking because I am afraid of large dogs and really don’t want to have extra anxiety.

This was announced today just when we were looking at trying Yacht club club level. o_O

Originally the answer was no. However, upper management prevailed over the YC General Manager and they are allowed on the CL floor.

Thanks for the quick response. We will rethink doing a split stay with the Yacht club. May just do entire stay at GF SL. I hope we will like it okay. We stayed in the main building RPC last year and I know it will be hard not to compare.

We currently are booked in a nature view room at the Wilderness Lodge, but the more we think about it...we are venturing back to the Grand.

Clarification...are they allowed in the club lounge as well? Geez, I hope not!

I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a “GRAND” stay!!!

Wondering where you heard an announcement it has been extended? I know many websites are saying it, but there hasn’t been anything official from Disney yet. Phone CMs don’t count as official announcements in my book.

Ok think I may have pics figured out. Here is the view from my room at the Atlantis. Will attempt to fly home tomorrow (fingers crossed). Will post more when I have better service and I'm not exhausted.

Great pics! Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Here are a few pictures from our time at Poly CL...July 28 to August 4. A few thoughts before I post the pics:

* The club was quite crowded during evening apps. I didn't take any pictures during this time as I felt I would just be in peoples' way. However, I will say that the food was quite delicious. We hadn't stayed Poly CL for a few years and there has been a noticeable improvement in the quality of food provided. Apps overall were fresh and delicious. Highlights of the week were pork belly, shrimp, salmon crudite, cucumber rolls, and stir fry. I was pretty mad that we missed crab macaroni night...we had pre-existing ADR plans for that night! My teenagers are not adventurous eaters and they tried a number of new foods and loved just about everything!

* There is no weekly menu posted. I did ask the chef one night about this and she pulled out a laminated card from behind the scenes. It listed every single item in their 7 day rotation...complete with photos! I was tempted to take a picture, but I chickened out since I didn't know if it was allowed and I didn't want to get the chef in trouble. I am a wimp! But, ask for it when you arrive and they may show it to you too!

* The CMs were awesome! I made it a point to thank them each day for their hard work. I was surprised at how many people ignore the CMs as if they are invisible...no thank-you's or acknowledgement. They were all working so hard and they deserve to be noticed :)

* The evening apps were all individually plated on very small plates. In addition, they also have smallish empty plates that you can use to get cheese and crackers, veggies, etc. It was pretty funny...every single night that we were there, there was at least one person who dropped a plate. This is what happens: People take one of the small empty plates and try to balance a few of the smaller plated items as well as cheese, crackers, etc. Inevitably, something slips. Every. Single. Night.

* They really need to move the silverware set-up. The plate with the utensils is really inconveniently placed on the main counter. People kept having to push their way into the middle of the line every time they needed an extra spoon or fork. They should put extras by the beverages in my opinion.

* Some kids are so well behaved!

* Some kids are so poorly behaved! We saw it all...kids cutting in line, touching the food in the bowls, running around the lounge. We even saw one pre-teen stand there with one hand down the back of his shorts...who then served himself some cheese with the same hand! EEK!

On to the pictures!

Here is the breakfast set-up:

Hard Boiled Eggs, Meats, and Cheeses...on this particular day there was Genoa Salami, Prosciutto de Parma, Swiss & Cheddar Cheese with Sopressatta. The meats varied by the day. Here's a tip...I saw many people toasting bread or a bagel and topping it with meat, sliced egg and cheese. Yummy!
You can also see Honey Yogurt Mango Parfaits and Honey Yogurt Berry Parfaits. The parfaits were very good with fruit running all the way through:

A variety of danishes, cinnamon rolls, and croissants:

Morning Beverages included 2% milk, orange juice, skim milk, and chocolate milk:

The fruit set-up. There was a good variety here. Notice the blackberries! There was also bananas, apples, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, and strawberries:

This machine was very popular most mornings, but out of order on the day I took pics!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi All! We were at the POLY CL from July 28 - August 4 and I thought I'd share a bunch of pictures.

We were celebrating two major milestones this trip. We put in a request for 3rd floor...that was our only request and we got it! Check-in at the Hawaii building was very quick and smooth.

Thanks for your thorough review as well as all the great pics. Glad you had a great time and enjoyed another Poly CL stay :goodvibes.

I hope you enjoyed all the pictures (sorry if there were too many!) We had a fantastic time at the Poly. This was our second time staying Poly CL TPV and we just love it! Let me know if you have any specific questions. I took a few Poly Lounge photos that I'll share later when I have time!

You can never post too many pics! Loved all of them, thanks for sharing :flower3:.

I agree about all the different choices at Disney, makes it nice to have so many choices ;).

Here are a few pictures from our time at Poly CL...July 28 to August 4.

Love the food pics! We're staying Poly CL for the first time in October, so I love seeing all of these great pics :goodvibes.

A few more Poly Lounge Pics...specifically beverages and desserts. Again, this was July 28 - August 4.

Here are the beverages that were out for the remainder of the day (after breakfast). Iced Tea, Lemonade, POG Juice and Water:

IMG_8281.jpg

Here is my opinion of the water situation. Bottles of water are not provided in the lounge. Everyday, we would take our empty water bottles that we bought from home and fill them using the water seen above. To do this, we would fill a disposable cup with water from the dispense and transfer to our water bottles. (For sanitary reasons, I didn't want to put our water bottles right up agains the dispenser spigot...I hate when people do that...yuck). Anyway, this process was a bit slow and, for the four of us, drained the water canister above a good amount). A few times we did have a CM offer to take the water bottles in the "back" and fill them, but I just wasn't comfortable handing over our water bottles to go "who know's where". I understand why they don't put water bottles in the refrigerator for anyone to take. People would totally hoard them and it would cost Disney a lot of money. Here's what I do think they should do: For the amount we pay for CL rooms, I do think some water bottles should be provided. A good resolution would be to put 4 or so water bottles in the fridge of each room during turndown. People could take them cold to the parks the next morning and they would be limited in the number they receive each day.

Here are the beverages that were in the fridge every day. Beer (Longboard, Wailua Wheat, Bud Light), Angry Orchard Hard Cider, Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Ginger Ale, Caffeine Free Diet Coke):
IMG_8280.jpg

Alcoholic Evening Beverages. From left to right...some kind of Hawaiian-inspired alcoholic punch, Chardonnay, J&H Selbach Riesling, Piper Sonoma Brut, Cabernet

Here are some of the evening desserts. They varied by the night, but this is what they had on this particular evening. S'more Tarts, Cherry Tarts, Chocolate Mousse Cake:

Guava Mousse Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sugar Cookies:

And, for those of you that want to study at home so that you're not that person holding up the line trying to read the directions on the Nespresso Machine, here's a close-up :rotfl:(Let me know if you can't read it...I had to condense it so it would work):

** We had a lovely stay at the Poly and wouldn't hesitate to go again. It was so great to have the lounge so close to the pool...very handy for snacks and beverages while you lounge in the sun (or shade if you are lucky enough to get a seat with an umbrella!). However, the lounge location by the pool does inspire some bad behavior...we did see people come up to the lounge in bathing suits, especially kids, and we did see more bare feet in the lounge than we would have cared to.

** As an FYI...we did receive turn-down service every night that we were there...including the chocolates! They even put chocolates on my son's daybed.

** The CMs in the lounge and at the desks were very good. One day we popped down to the desks to ask a quick question. We wanted to know if Disney trading pins are allowed as carry-on items on the airplane. We usually put them in our checked luggage, but we had a late flight out on the last day and the kids wanted to keep them for trading during the day (after we'd already gotten rid of our luggage at RAC). The CM did not know the answer to the question but immediately picked up the phone and called the TSA and got us our answer on the spot. (Yes, Disney Pins are allowed in your carry-on bag if you are wondering!)

** Speaking of RAC, if you are checking bags with them on your last day...leave lots of time! We waited in a long line for about 40 minutes! And, note, that RAC closes at noon!

** One final word...I have about 5 pounds to blame on those darn chocolate chip cookies! They are so good! Thank goodness I don't have to pass a plate of chocolate chip cookies every day in my real life...I really lack will power!!
