Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Hi there! We just booked a "last minute" trip to see our DD who is a CP at WDW. Our DD was able to get us 50% off at The Polynesian GV Club Level!! We are super excited!! We check in on Sept 13th for 7 nights. We stayed at the Poly club level back in 2010 when my DD (same one that is a CP) won a deluxe disney trip off of a local radio contest. She was 13 at the time.:rotfl2: We are bringing our DS 7 with us and he will turn 8 during our trip. We plan to spend a lot of time at our resort since we were at WDW back in January for two weeks. We are only doing 3 park days plus MNSSHP one night. I'm wondering what has changed with Poly club level since 2010? Also what kind of activities does the Poly have for children? Thank you!!

It would to an extent except we have little ones with us and the "entertainment" meals we are looking at are pretty much buffets. And I'm sure my parents would want to join.

Don't feel you are stuck with just buffets. There's a ton of entertaining plated meals in WDW! Some that come to mind, Ohana both meals; WCC, Garden grill; coral reef, Sci-fi drive in; 50s prime time; Sanaa; Hoop de doo; trattoria al forno (breakfast); RFC and TRex. I actually hate the buffet character meals, they are sooo stressful, you can't enjoy your food. You are constantly up and down and afraid to go to the buffet for fear you will miss a character. Its really not an enjoyable experience.

Oh, I know about those. However we are looking into the Cinderella /Stepsisters dinner and Alice , pooh or possible Hollywood and Dine if it's decent. And those are all buffets.
Thanks though! :)

We have years ago done the character buffets and while not my favorite food was for the reaction of my niece and it was fun minus the castle dinner we had. We have done the Alice , Hatter and Marry Popins but Cinderella dinner ,Crystal palace , or Hollywood Dine with The fab five.

Beautiful pic! Hope you had a great trip :wizard:.

you should also make sure to relay that info to the restaurant when you check in for your ADR; they'll often send a chef out to make sure you're taken care of.

definitely let the restaurant staff know about your father's needs - they're always more than happy to make your experience magical. pixiedust:

Like the PP mentioned, WDW is good with food needs. I honestly do not think that staying CL would affect this in any way. I would make sure you have them note it on your reservation and then discuss it again when you are at the restaurants.

:thumbsup2

Congrats on the great discount! Hope you have a great time :).

Sadly, I am just back from Poly CL as well, our first Disney/Poly trip over July 4th. Part of me wants to come on here and tell everyone it was horrible and they should never go to Poly on July 4th.... so I have less competition for a TPV room next year! :rotfl:

But alas, I can't lie... it was awesome. We enjoyed our trip immensely. Poly and Poly CL is a great place to stay to experience the 4th, in my humble opinion.

It was great to meet a few DISers as well. :wave2:

Happy to answer any Poly questions, I know many of you have upcoming trips!

Room 3511, third floor just past the 'middle' of the building as you walk away from the lounge. It didn't disappoint!

Aaaaahhhh! I love that view. I've always wanted to stay there during the 4th. Maybe someday... So glad you had a great time! :goodvibes:

Oh my gosh - this just convinced me to do Poly CL next 4th of July. I'd been toying with the idea but it's happening for sure! Do they still offer a reserved space on the beach for CL-ers? And...do they still do 4th of July themed food? Because, you know, food. :mickeybar

Just received a beautiful pre-printed card from DSS offering assistance for our YC CL stay in September. This was after they left a nice message on the answering machine a couple of weeks ago (a few days after I booked the stay).

I didn't hear a peep from DSS for our stay at Poly CL TPV last month. :confused3 And that room was way, way, way more expensive than the YC room.

I wonder if DSS contact varies by resort - even though they are a central service, maybe different resorts give DSS different instructions?

Anyhow, it was nice to be contacted by them! Just 5 more days till FP+

See this is what I was talking about... I should have just kept my big mouth shut! :rotfl:

Yes, there was a reserved section for the 4th, but not the 3rd. I have to admit the Poly CL CMs I spoke to were pretty uninformed/unknowledgeable about what they'd be offering in this regard. Some said both nights, some said one night, some had no clue. Poor information dissemination from management I suspect, or CL CMs not taking the time to understand what was planned.

Yes the lounge had a few decorations. I thought they did a nice job making things a bit more festive. They passed out red/white/blue leis all day.

Yes they had a special menu... hot dogs, mini sliders, potato salad, some kind of ribs, maybe something else? Desserts had patriotic themes. None of the special food was really over the top, but it was a nice touch and I thought everything was very good.

They had Bud Light out on the 4th, which I found funny. This Bud's for you... but only on July 4th I guess.

But just to point out some negative things... for whatever reason evening apps on the 3rd were a total and absolute cluster. I have NEVER seen the lounge so busy and with such a long line. They ran out of plates, couldn't keep food plated/stocked. I'm not so sure it was the CMs fault, there were just so many people! It frankly wasn't that pleasant AT ALL!

But evening apps on the 4th seemed to go much more smoothly... much smaller wait when we were there, no trouble finding a seat, plenty of food. Maybe I just got unlucky with my timing on the 3rd?

There were manager types in the lounge on the 4th with MB scanners. I don't think they ever asked to scan me, but I think maybe they were for some people or maybe downstairs by the door? Not sure.

I did have to be scanned at the pool earlier that day and they gave out wristbands. I so wish Poly would do this every dang day of the year just like BC/YC....

Sorry.... long answer to your question! :-)

Don't apologize for a long answer - I appreciate thoroughness! I've always wanted to stay in the 1 bedroom suite at the Poly and I'm thinking if it's a shorter than usual stay, I just might be able to do it. You only live once, right? Plus the 4th of July looks so festive - totally my speed. How bad/awful/unbearable were crowds in the theme parks?

I agree with you about scanning MB's at the pools. I'm more Team Oasis than Team Lava, but still...they both get crowded and wristbands would be :thumbsup2

Team Oasis. Hilarious.

From my perspective, I found the crowds totally manageable. Compared to my other trips this year (President's Day weekend, first week of April, long weekend in May), this was a breeze. I mean sure, it's still crowded... but really if I compare, say April to what I just experienced, July wins hands down. I actually don't think we'll ever do an April/Spring Break trip like we did this year anytime soon. It was super expensive and crowded. With summer being much cheaper and less crowded, I think we're going to circle July for a longer stay each year. The only downside is the heat, but we just manage around that.

In retrospect I wish I had turned this past trip into a week long stay.... four nights at Poly for the 4th then over to the BC for the rest of the week.

I've often wondered about the Tonga suites but part of me says I might be 'bored' over there. :confused3 I sort of like buzz of Hawaii, the lounge, etc! I think I would miss the beach scene if I was in the suites. Maybe?

I love the CP discounts. We went 4 times while our DD was a CP. Now she is interning for Disney in NYC and she gets all the same discounts. It is wonderful.

Enjoy the Poly. The Pool is new - it is wonderful - they have pool activities as long as other activities for kids throughout the day.

Great Picture. I would love to be there July 4th one year - but not anytime soon don't worry! :)

Not sure why, but it seems to be hit or miss with getting contacted by DSS. Some get an email right away after booking, while others never hear from them. Good luck with your FP+s :wizard:.
