Interesting. I don't know the in-and-outs of DVC but I understood that daily cleaning was an extra paid service when staying on points. That's not the case with concierge level at Jambo?

The woman you spoke to was correct. When you stay on DVC points, you do not get daily housekeeping. It's been this way as long as I can remember.

Trash and Towel service is included in all stays of more than four days. If your stay is for less than eight nights, you will receive Trash & Towel service on day four. If your stay is for eight nights or longer, you will receive a full cleaning service on day four, and Trash & Towel service on day eight. After that, the cycle begins again on day twelve. Day one is check-in day. Daily housekeeping can be arranged and paid for at time of check-in. The following rates are subject to change:

Additional Full Cleaning Rates:
Studio - $30.00 for each day requested
One-Bedroom - $45.00 for each day requested
Two-Bedroom - $60.00 for each day requested
Three-Bedroom - $75.00 for each day requested
Additional Trash & Towel Rates:
Studio - $15.00 for each day requested
One-Bedroom - $20.00 for each day requested
Two-Bedroom - $25.00 for each day requested
Three-Bedroom - $35.00 for each day requested

When staying CL at AKL you are supposed to receive the same perks as the regular CL guests. This is the only exception for DVC Trash and Towel service, and it's always been that way ever since they allowed us to use our points for these rooms, but this was the first time I was told otherwise.

Actually Melissa is correct about the fact that she should have had daily mouse keeping service while staying CL at ALK.

The AKL Kilimanjaro Club is the only place where a DVC guest staying on points (owner or rented) has full service mouse keeping including nightly turn down service daily. I think the only restriction is on the ability to reserve a specific view.

Thanks Dave! And you're right about not being able to choose a specific view. All DVC rooms are on the 6th floor, the same floor that the lounge is on, and you'll either have a pool or a savannah view (Ostrich Trail/Sunset Overlook Savannah).

Does anyone have up to date info on AKL club offerings?
My adult dd and her bf are headed there in January.
I am reading about what is new at some of the other club levels on property (BWI), and am curious about Killamanjaro Club.

I can't give you specifics, but this is what I saw when I was there last week:

Breakfast: Oatmeal, Quinoa, fruit, pastries (croissants, cinnamon buns, mini muffins that rotated between chocolate, blueberry and orange, bagels, toast), yogurts, and then the condiments to go along with everything.

Afternoon Snack: Goldfish, Ingredients to make your own trail mix, Gummy Bears, Sugar Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Mini Rice Crispy Treats, Chips, and a variety of bread and hummus

Afternoon Tea: Seasonal Scones, Cream, Granola Bars, and Mini Rice Crispy Treats

Dinner: Appetizers from Jiko or Boma (during the week we were there they offered two offerings each night, and during that time we had a seafood stew, a tomato soup, a corn chowder, a lamb dish, a pork dish, a beef dish), a variety of raw veggies, dips and hummus, a variety of breads, a variety of cheese and a few dried meats.

Evening Snack: Peanut Butter Mousse Cake, One different dessert each night (a fruit tart, a strawberry mousse cake, etc), Cookies and Rice Crispy Treats

The beverages that were stocked in the fridge were sodas, water, milk, and juice. Ice Water, Jungle Juice, Orange Juice and Iced Tea were always available, as well as coffee and hot tea. You could also ask for beer, wine (only 3 different kinds that were only of the dry variety) and a Sangria (which was very good).

I think that pretty much covers it.

Not a big deal, I am just curious about whether they are following what other resort club levels seem to be doing.

Just answered your question in my post above this one. And just to add...I wouldn't say my stay was less than satisfactory. Just not what it was the last two times I stayed there. I still love the resort, and the Club Level cast members working there.

Reporting back from our stay last week at Poly CL: It was wonderful! My husband, who is not remotely a Disney guy (he only went to please me ) said it was worth it, and that "You could talk me into doing this again sometime!" Coming from him at Disney, this is some of the highest praise possible!

We made extensive use of the breakfast offerings as well as the afternoon beverages in the lounge fridge. And I enjoyed a glass of wine every evening while watching Wishes from the beach. The convenience made all the difference for DH.

Others have given good descriptions of the food. The beverages available in the fridge were Coke products, Sam Adams Boston Lager, Stella Artois, Longboard Lager, Castaway IPA, Sierra Nevada (first day only), and Angry Orchard. Alcoholic beverages were self-serve in the fridge after 12:00 noon. Evening wines I saw were a Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and White Zin. Cordials included Bailey's plus a chilled carafe of milk/cream , Frangelico, Amaretto, Grand Marnier, and the yummy alcoholic tiki punch.

For check-in, we arrived from another resort via Monorail, so we could not be greeted. We reported to the desk designated for "Club Level Arrivals" and were greeted immediately, given leis (even my son's sock monkey got one!) and walked over to the Hawaii building for a relaxed check in. After that we didn't interact with the staff much, though they did help me arrange an earlier Magical Express departure. It was quick, smooth, and painless (except for the departure part ).

If I had to do one thing differently, it would be to purchase one-park passes instead of hoppers. We found that we enjoyed relaxing at the resort so much that we did not hop once, or even return to a park in the evening. Less expensive tickets would have helped offset the added cost of CL.

Anyway, the trip was a huge success! It's so good to know that there is an option that makes Disney enjoyable for my husband too. This is where we will stay the next time he comes along.

It's always been my understanding the what you see online is what you'll get if you call, but I could be wrong.

I'm surprised there's no availability... I've been poking around at various dates over winter/spring and WL CL is the one that is almost always available.

Is it that there is no room availability at all or just no discount? Is it a short stay? Marathon weekend?

Sometimes I find if I've been on Disney's website a bunch things don't refresh properly... there have been one or two times when I've switched computers or browsers and had different room results. Go figure.

You're right, nothing. I was curious so plugged in a few other random Jan dates, different lengths of stay, etc and NOTHING popped up for CL at all. This seems pretty odd to me!

Yeah, you should call Disney's main reservation number. IPO as it previously existed is gone for now, presumably to be replaced with something in 2017 but that's an unknown at the moment.

I've not done it but can you add people online? I'm not sure on that one.

BTW, you have a fun late winter / spring lined up!

It was originally just AKL in Feb. My mom wanted to stay at WDW for her birthday, so I am surprising her with a stay at BC.

We have been here are GF Sugarloaf since the 16th and we are so in love with everything! This is a vacation like no other. We have had over 25 Disney vacations at mainly DVC and Deluxe, but this is our first concierge. It's been amazing so far!

I'm going to assume that the oatmeal served at AKL CL is the same that is served at all of the CL lounges. When I asked one of the CMs there, he said it was just your standard Quaker Oats, but I thought I had read Steel Cut somewhere as well. Anyway, I went with the Steel Cut, made it at home (in the microwave) and then ended up being extremely disappointed with my creation. Maybe it tastes so great because it's made with pixie dust, but if anyone else has the secret, could you please pass it along?

Steel cut oats usually need to be cooked on the stove for about half an hour or so. I looked around for a recipe and found this, it's close to what I used to use.

If you don't have Maldon salt, season with salt carefully (I can get you the weight if you'd like). Hold back most of it until you can have a taste at the end. My kids request this frequently. You may be at the stove, stirring, for 20 minutes but the reward is well worth it.

After I prepared it, I knew I'd made the mistake of using the microwave. Thanks so much! I'll take a look at all of those recipes and see what reminds me the most of Disney. Maybe I just need to book another trip in order to solve this dilemma. When I was at the lounge I loved putting the brown sugar in it, along with either blueberries or raspberries! And since it was vacation, I even had a croissant...or two. Lol!

The only "issue" we have is all the duck families that come by. They are very cute, but they leave droppings all over our patio....

Ahh! The duck families! I still fondly remember in 2015 during our stay sharing the duck family with you and your family! I was so excited to be upgraded to LV for that trip - we will be back this July but I know that we used up that luck on that trip!
