Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Are older teens (17 and 15) allowed to go to the lounge by themselves, or is it policy that anyone under 18 be accompanied by an adult? Just thinking ahead to a possible future trip with my teen sons. Thanks!

Thank goodness the answer is yes!! Our boys are ages 17, 16 and 9 and we book club level for race weekends. We've stayed CL at every resort except for YC and our older boys frequently go to the lounge on their own.

Awesome, Thanks!

Ditto my son was 14 our 1st cl stay and I didn't think twice about letting him go alone. Just remember to remind them : use tongs not hands, don't take ALL the cookies, don't make a mess and say thank you to the cm's.

Also the cm's are nice to older kids too. Waiting for our room ready text this summer a cm at poly brought out ds19 a nesquick and a pb uncrustable without even asking. I guess they know teen boys r always hungry.

Last year when we checked into the Poly CL we had a small welcome box of chocolates. We moved to the GF Sugarloaf and had a chocolate with the GF printed on it. This year at RPC we didn't get anything. Have they discontinued welcome gifts?

I've lost my mind. Just upgrade our Christmas Poly stay to add 2 more nights and make the whole thing Club Level. After I swore up and down that there is no reason to stay Club Level at Christmas because we are om the go so much.

Oh well. It is only money, right?

I think Christmas is the PERFECT time for club level. You will have a nice place to get away if you need to. Congrats and enjoy!!

And....it is only money! (I keep telling myself the same)

I find that logic perfectly acceptable. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hope you have a great trip! Would love to hear your thoughts on the latest offerings when you return.

Hmmm, good question. There have been a mix of CL cut backs (and a few upgrades) this past year so unless someone has any recent experience it might be though to say. I am pretty sure I had a chocolate gift at RPC in Feb, but I don't have any photos so maybe I didn't? Or maybe I ate it too quick? 50/50 chance on that one.

In July at Poly we had three small chocolates (used to be four). Also had a chocolate gift at CR in Sept (printed pic of the CR which was so cool you didn't really want to eat it). Did NOT have anything at WL CL after Thanksgiving. Not sure if that's the norm there or because we had a Deluxe Room w/ CL Access?? I spent one night in a BC 1-BR suite w/ Club Level Access over the summer and didn't have a gift there either.

Going down this memory lane here is making me realize I did way too many trips this year!

We were at RPC a month ago and did not have a gift either. I hadn't thought of it until I read your post, LOL. We were upgraded to RPC so my head wasn't comprehending much at the time. I guess I count the room upgrade as our welcome gift :) Last December at AKL we received chocolate giraffe pops.

I responded to @disneymommy1979 in another thread with a recommendation for Poly under the circumstances. And then I added that BWI is my favorite overall, but our kids are ages 9, 16 and 17 now so that's part of the calculation. One thing about BWI CL is the size of the lounge and the fact that there is no dedicated kids' area. He loved the kids' areas at Poly, WL, AKL, CR and GF - all with kid-sized furniture and cartoons playing, and crayons/coloring pages at WL. Not sure if that changed at WL with the renovation or if AKL still has that area with some of the changes there. Point is, one negative at BWI (and it's hard to find a negative at BWI) is that if adults are in the sofa area in front of the TV watching the news, it can be a downer for little kids. And it kind of stresses me out because our little one is on the autism spectrum and his CL lounge "routine" is getting snacks and watching Disney channel.
WOAH.........this might be a game changer for us, thank you for posting this. We have stayed Poly CL, BC CL and GF RPC CL with our littles and the best part of the lounge for us is setting them u with some food in front of the "kids area" then getting our own plates and sitting behind them and having a nice breakfast or evening app. I wanted to try a new resort and we have a CL stay at BWI for March. We spend 50/50 time at resorts and parks so this might be something for us to think about. I don't like my kids seeing everything on the news right now, and I'd hate to ask someone to change the channel......... so without a funny Mickey cartoon playing or the nightime stories with Duffy, we might be headed in the wrong direction with staying BWI.

This is a tough one. Our previous BWI CL stays have been during the months of January, February and August. We had great luck with the TV in the BWI lounge for our youngest in January and August - lounge was not busy at all. But for our February stay - that's where we found more guests were using the sofa/chairs combo in front of the TV and watching it. We're staying there for Marathon Weekend and taking our chances, but we're trying to prepare our youngest for the possibility that the TV might not be available. He doesn't really believe it, because when we stayed CL at Ritz Carlton last summer (similar set-up) he was usually able to influence channel choice. He was obsessed with the food channel at that time so most adults would agree to his proposals. :)

Ughhh, thanks for the info and good luck with the "taking your chances" I know it's not the end of the world, but it was nice to be able to chill with the hubs while the kids were being entertained in the lounge. When was this that you noticed the change in the kids area, and do you think this is something that will be happening in ALL the CL lounges? I wouldn't think so,but I'm surprised BWI did this.

Just to add, this is not a change. BWI hasn't had a kids area for as long as we've been staying there, at least 7+years. I'm not sure how they could provide this, there really isn't the space. It's always fine to bring breakfast/snacks back to your room. This might be a good option if the lounge TV is in use by adults.

There are kids areas at YC CL and BC CL with child sized seating, table and a TV.

Does Disney ever offer discounts for club level rooms? I'm looking to book 2 nights club in may and I was wondering :)

Unfortunately, this seems to be one of those things that is hit or miss as some people report getting a welcome gift, while others do not :(.

Congrats on upgrading! Hope you have a great trip :santa:.

I agree ::yes::.

Yes, CL rooms are usually included in promos. With that said, you might have to be flexible with your resort as not all CLs are always included (and some are offered at a lower discount than others), but there are usually CL options ;).

Yes! There are often discounts on CL rooms, just like regular rooms. The current general public promotion ("Gift of Magic") runs through the first week of April I think. I know a lot of folks are anxiously waiting for the next offer to come out, but I'm not sure when that usually happens? There are websites that track when Disney "usually" announces offers, but things change a bit year to year. I think it should be coming up sometime soon but I have not checked.

One thing to remember, like all Disney offers, the usual "The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited" caveat applies. Just because a room is available does not necessarily mean there will be a discount offer available for it.

Different resorts / room categories / view categories have different supply/demand factors and Disney will 'usually' provide discounts accordingly to entice us all to book and to fill their resorts.

Another caveat though, there are often minimum stay requirements with most general public offers. Disney generally wants to lure people with longer stays.... two nights may be tough to get a discount, I'm guessing.

Good luck!

Not having that kids TV isn't necessarily a game changer for us and we TRY the best we can not to use a TV as a baby sitter, but I just wanted to say I 100% agree with you in that those small kids tables are one of the many reasons we particularly enjoy CL. It makes things so much more convenient to have a safe place for them to sit and be content for a minute while you make their breakfast or grab something for yourself.

Some of our travels are just me and DS and frankly those little tables are pretty critical - he's distracted enough with the TV and I can always keep him in eye shot - while I do whatever I need to do in the lounge... grab food, coffee, talk to a CM, whatever. Heck, my guy has made a few friends at those tables and we've enjoyed chats with other parents at the end of the day while everyone is winding down.

Could we live without it? Of course. But it's a nice small amenity for those of us with little ones for sure.
