Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

This is my first post here ever so forgive me if I've got it in the wrong place! We are staying club level at the YC with our kids 10/7-10/12. Our 3 year old has a severe peanut allergy. I'm wondering if there will be enough she can safely eat. I hate to be on vacation and have to keep telling her she can't have something. Would love to hear about other's experiences. TIA!

My Mom has a severe peanut allergy and every Club Level she's been at has been extremely accommodating. Just make sure you let IPO know this before you arrive then speak to the CL staff on your first day. The CL CM will most likely bring out the Chef to discuss some options.

Is it typical to receive an email that says they will text you your room number and you can skip check-in -- if you are staying CL? I got one of these for our stay next week and I was a little surprised since I thought part of CL was you check in at the main desk and they walk you up to CL. We've only stayed CL once and we were met at valet park by someone with a clipboard and taken upstairs (WL). We are staying at BWI. Is this different?
I received a text with our room assignment before we arrived. When I got to the desk at IKC they just nonchalantly buzzed the door and handed me a packet. No welcome or showing me the lounge or anything

Same thing happened when we stayed Tower Club at CR last month...we were sent a text with the room number and found the room ourselves when we got there. No one showed us around and we actually went the wrong direction getting off the elevator because there aren't any signs saying which room numbers are where.

Even worse: When checking in to RPC we did not receive a text message, had to wait in a long line at main check in and then another line for someone to take us upstairs. We waited longer than non CL guests checking in.

Two weeks ago at BC I told the valet we were checking in CL and he immediately told me to wait there and he'd get someone to take us up. He hustled all over the place and finally found a greeter with an iPad who walked us to the elevator and rode with us up to the 5th floor. It pretty much seemed like my prior experiences at Poly, GF, & CR - if you happen to get a greeter with an iPad there when you pull up you were good, but if not, there may be a bit of a delay. At least there appeared to still be actual greeters at BC, which Poly has now done away with completely.

Thank you! I spoke with a friend that stayed CL at the YC last week and there were greeted and escorted upstairs for check in like normal.

Welcome to the Dis :welcome:

Dansdad answered your question, but I wanted to say I hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

We have a fair amount of experience with CL, and some with allergies. This is a good place to ask about CL. You will also find info in the DISabilites section of the DIS about general park touring with allergies. There you will find lists of all the allergen-free brands WDW uses property-wide. Also, it may be helpful to know that each resort has one central kitchen. The food you get in CL comes from the Captain's Grille Kitchen, and from WDW's p.o.v.- YC and BC are one resort.

When you arrive at the hotel, talk to the CM on CL. They will call a chef up to talk to you, and the chef will go over your options for the duration of your stay.
1. many line item foods are safe: whole fruits, canned beverages, juices, etc.
2. they also can set aside a portion of a food for her (to avoid cross contamination).
3. In some cases the chefs can prep up a special plate of food just for her that is allergen free.
4. they might also hand you prepackaged foods that are certified to be free of allergens, like a brownie that is free of both nuts, wheat, etc.

One thing they ask in return is that you show up to eat the food they prep for you, and commit to a schedule. The CL's offer desserts 8-10pm. So if you ask them to have a dessert for her, then it is your job to be there during the dessert hours. It also takes some extra time.

When you go to an ADR, the allergy should be noted on your ADR. In the case of allergies, WDW's long standing policy was to have a chef come to your table to go over her options. When you arrive, the allergy is usually noted right away. If you don't hear them mention it, then feel free to ask.

Despite my long post, CL makes dining with allergies comparatively easy. Since she is only 3, you will have to supervise her in the lounge. The CL's DO serve PBJ's, etc. I don't specifically recall if YC is one of the ones that does.

This is not great, but as long as I don't have to wait in line in the lobby, I'll settle.

I would definitely complain to Disney! I understand not complaining while you are there - you don't want to get anyone angry who you may need during your stay. But once you're home.....

UGH. I have both Tower Club and RPC booked for first stays next month. Your arrival experiences were much less than magical and would have left a terrible impression on me.

Neither of you were greeted by anyone at all downstairs? Did these experiences influence your future plans to re-book at Tower Club and RPC? Also curious, were your room requests met at TC and RPC? And, how would you rate the level of service after you got into your room?

CR has long been the exception where greeters/escorts are concerned.

We have usually been directed to the front desk, and I say this as someone who stayed there with extended family that all arrived at different times and differing means (rental car or ME). Everyone was told they had to go to the front desk.

When we did the earlier 1.0 version of online check-in, our welcome packet was at the front desk.

Oh, I miss the gold cards CL used to get!

When we first started staying CL, we loved the greeting and the escort to the club level was fun. That's because our first CL greeting experience at BC was great. I even remember the CM's name - Bret - and he was energetic, welcoming, friendly. But then, our CL greeting experiences started to vary at all the resorts (only place we've not stayed CL is YC.) When it's great, it's great. But when it's not great, it's kind of irritating. Trying to flag down a CM in the lobby, explaining the CL nature of our reservation, waiting for a CL greeter who walks us up but is just "meh" about the whole thing, walking back to Hawaii or up to the BWI CL desk on our own and having to explain who we are/why we're there. In the end, the CL CM roulette was becoming uncomfortable so we are now fans of the text and straight to room situation.

I have another question. Again thanks for all the help already!

We are staying 4 nights Poly CL. All 4 nights are just booked for myself, my daughter and wife. I have multiple celebrations noted on the reservation and i have asked this questions and got 2 different responses. My reservation is noted about the surprise below.

I am surprising my wife for her birthday. Her mom and sister are coming up and staying with us nights 3 and 4. They are driving up after they finish work on a Wednesday and the plan is for them to be in the room, decorated when we get back from our day at Epcot.

My question is how is this going to work with CL perks? Will i need to pay extra to have them int he room and receive perks? Both IP and the TA told me to check in with the front desk on day one for details but, one told me there would be a fee per person the other said no fee.

They are both season passholders and have magic bands. Will the staff be able to to link their bands so they have access to the room and CL building while we are not there if i give them all the info when i check in?

You will pay the $25 extra adult fee, times 2, for each night they are there. So $50 per night.

Yup.

Since they are arriving 2 days after you, you can add them to your room at/after check in for the nights they'll be there. When they arrive, they will have access to the room once they check in and will have the same perks you do. There will be an additional charge of $25/pp/nt for anyone over age 18 for nights 3 & 4.

HTH :)

Keep in mind, CR is partly a business hotel. They have a bell services station outside. At most WDW hotels, bell services is off to one side. At CR, bell services greets everyone upon arrival, and asks if need help with your bags. (In the past) before we got to the front desk line, a coordinator told us where to go. Sometimes we were escorted upstairs, but more often we were told front desk would be faster.

At the other hotels, we've often been met by a greeter who greets us by name, but not ALWAYS, even during the day. CL staff works 7am-10pm. Outside of those hours, CL guests have to use the front desk.

We've been to CR a number of times, and all the CL's. Every hotel has a theme. We've always felt the theme of CR is contemporary, and the service approach fits that theme: smooth lines, minimal accessories, and not too much adornment. Other WDW hotels trend a bit more towards adornment approach to service.

Another poster asked almost the same a few pages back. If, upon arrival, you add them to the reservation, WDW charges $25 per night per extra adult. If you add them to your reservation, they should be able to access the room without you, but it seems to me it is also possible they'd have to stop by the front desk to link their MB/show ID in this case.

If they have traveled with you to WDW before then their info will already be linked to your name. If not, the CM's might need to add their info to your account.

I don't really know for sure, but I recall that when we added a late arrival (some time ago), I went to the front desk when she arrived.
