Back from WL CL. Got a call a little over a week out our 2 CL resort view rooms were not in inventory due to work associated with the roof and we were being moved to Deluxe CL rooms. I was concerned but you guys helped calm my concerns of distance from club and noise. Here's how it went!
Room: Nice with the extra space, but I don't see myself paying up for those rooms due to distance from the club/lobby. They are still stocking the mini-fridges. We had the 2 rooms on Floor 1 and this was the key that made this whole thing ok. We have an
ECV user and a couple of us have on again, off again issues with stairs so had we been on another level it would have meant always walking down to the elevator at the end of the hall. Being on Floor 1 the instant access to the boats and hot tubs was great, we were at the hot tubs every day! The noise level was fine, I think these rooms have extra sound proofing. Electrical Parade was about 1 notch down from my morning alarm though and louder in the living room. Was able to mostly see it from the living room so pretty cool if you're a fan. If you have kids, forget them sleeping until that is done. When it comes back around you can hear it pretty good but not as loud and we couldn't see anything. Balconies were so tiny they were utterly useless. I was surprised how dark the bedroom got despite all the windows, great for sleeping. Housekeeping got to us every single day!
Club: Aside from one issue, solid. The food can double for dinner depending on your dining preferences and you should be able to fill up for breakfast easily. Their allergy accommodations were amazing! Our dairy allergy was even able to get scrambled eggs made without dairy in the mornings. It does take more time so plan accordingly. I saw some people get Mickey ice cream bars during the day so that might be a quiet offering but I didn't ask. Cobblers were Strawberry Peach, Mixed Berry, Apple Cranberry. Apple was my favorite by far. They were always accompanied by ice cream and a couple mini-cupcakes. I usually don't like Disney CL mini-cupcakes but they had an orange and lemon I enjoyed and the dark chocolate candy on top was fun. Dishes were cleared promptly, sometimes mid-meal as the tables are small but they were always polite about asking if we were done with stuff. It was very quiet, we were always able to find a place for our party of 4 at a table we could drive the ECV up to no less.
The issue- the wine selection was actually ok for a Disney Club, northwest wines and it's the same stuff you'll get offered at the hotel bars. Except the sparkling. They snuck a cheaper one called Los Dos Brut from Spain in. Gag me, just serve Barefoot and call it a day. I thought they were temporarily out as Michelle Brut was listed on their "menu" but around day 3 when I asked for the Michelle Brut and pointed it was on the menu they went in back and put one in the fridge to chill- of course that takes a couple hours so that was annoying. Rinse and repeat for the next day. (It did not help that a group was being served a sparkling rose at that time one day but when I asked a CM if they had a sparkling rose I was told that was a special thing for the group- like, they know their sparkling is so crap they make sure special groups don't have to drink it? Idk,
super weird vibes with that whole situation, never saw the group again.) The next day they finally updated their menu to reflect their bad choice in sparkling wine and it listed Los Dos Brut. Like, Michelle Brut is a pretty cheap sparkling to start with and isn't anything I'd ever buy at home but it's drinkable when you really want a sparkling and some vacay vibes. This switch is just management being cheap. I suspect long-term this bodes badly for the rest of the wine list.
