Booked a CL room for December at AKL standard - the next day we are in a 1br villa Jambo using rented DVC points.
I just really wanted DH and DD to enjoy the resort the first day and we may not even go to the parks. Will there be much of an issue changing from standard CL room to DVC villa ? Also, I booked CL at standar rate are there usually discounts around Dec. 10-16? I purchased my park tickets through the room reservation and added dining plan to the DVC stay.

Ok, so I'm a little confused when I look at the AKL map. It shows some rooms right above the lobby that don't appear to be on any trail. When I made my CL reservation, I put in a request for bunk beds and closer to lobby. It is a regular reservation and not DVC. However, there is no reason any of us can't walk a little farther esp. If it means a better room view. The booking stated Savanna view, which I know from you all is what the CL rooms are, but now I am thinking I should remove the closer to lobby request and maybe putting a certain trail request instead? Are CL rooms on all different trails?

Those rooms you see near the lounge are all DVC rooms. The regular AKL CL rooms are all savannah view, Kudu and Zebra Trails both, and are on a different floor from the lounge. I've been on both sides and I thought Kudu Trail was nice because we could take the stairs to the lounge instead of the elevator. No matter which side you end up on the lounge isn't really close.

It shouldn't be a problem. You can store all your luggage at 11:00 AM until your villa is ready. Those seem to rarely be ready before 4:00 PM.

Shouldn't be any issue other than the possibility of you being without a room for a few hours as your DVC room might not being ready until 3:00 or 4:00 pm. As far as discounts, it is possible to get one during those dates for your standard CL room, although discounts for December won't be out for awhile.

Taking a break from this year from sailing the high seas with Mickey to come back to the parks after a few years. We will be in AKL CL in June and cant wait!

A little nugget of info I picked up from Don, the IPO I spoke with...they are planning on starting up a new 'Breakfast Safari' type of experience beginning next month. It sounded similar to what I've read of the old Sunrise Safari, or whatever it was called (the one that was discontinued in Dec, '14. He didn't give any specifics and omitted it from the email he sent me but that's what I gathered from what he was saying.

I admit I'm a bit overwhelmed with the idea of becoming the 'family expert' in yet another aspect of Disney, but I'm sure we will have a great time.

It sounded similar to what I've read of the old Sunrise Safari, or whatever it was called (the one that was discontinued in Dec, '14. He didn't give any specifics and omitted it from the email he sent me but that's what I gathered from what he was saying.

I admit I'm a bit overwhelmed with the idea of becoming the 'family expert' in yet another aspect of Disney, but I'm sure we will have a great time.

I hope you were able to get the text number yesterday. How has it been so far? We are arriving at YC CL on Friday, so I am curious on your thoughts/experiences. How did check-in go? How is the condition of the room? Is the refurbished/expanded lounge nice?

Unless there has been a recent change due to the cutbacks, you should be able to ask for water bottles. As for the noise level of the rooms, unfortunately, for the most part it depends on how noisy your neighbors are. In SL, I prefer to be away from the main atrium in the building because noise travels up from the lounge, but this doesn't bother most people...I'm an incredibly light sleeper

You're welcome! WL is our favorite during the holidays, but I also love AKL as it is nicely decorated with a large tree as well. I know you'll have a great time .

As Dispro1 posted, you should be able to get bottled water. Just ask for it if it's not out .

I didn't find it to be noisy, but like the pp mentioned, that varies from person to person. I'm a pretty light sleeper and while I've sometimes heard noise at all of the resorts we've stayed at, it's never been anything so noisy/irritating to be bothersome (at least not to me ).

As a PP mentioned, the 6th floor rooms are all DVC. You should be placed on the 4th floor, either on the Zebra or Kudu trails. The views get a bit better as you get farther from the lobby, but the trade-off is a longer walk to the lounge. We had an amazing view on Kudu once, but prefer Zebra because it's easier to get to the pool. Honestly, they are both great!

This is great news! We really enjoyed the Sunrise Safari (took it several times) and I was sorry to see it was gone.
