Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Quick question please...
Booking CL 2 adults with with 2 of the grand girls. 10 and 14 at time of travel, April '22 week before Easter. (I know, I know, but their school has like no time off!)
So which resort and why?
WL Old Faithful
or
POLY King Kamehameha

I know it's going to be busy no matter where we stay, but looking at least crowded pool during crazy busy times, and ease of transport, as well as Disney immersion.
Please help!
And thanks in advance!
Keep in mind I could give you many reasons why one is better than the other lol and on the end BOTH are great options.

Yet for girls I would lean for poly. If the main pool is busy the quiet pool is not.

The Hawaiian music, tiki lights, and view of castle are such unique things Poly has over others.

Tranportation: for Epcot walk to TTC and take mono
Bus to AKL and hs
Boat, mono or walk to MK.

Visiing mono area? Walk, boat or mono to GF. Walk or mono to Cr or ro MK then walk from MK to Cr. We love to visit lobbies and shop👍

Food options at poly are fun too and most have a castle view!

View from the beach is so pretty with swings to just sit there and soak it in.

WL is my DS favorite but it’s very dark and not as girlie ? However If they like the look of it then go for it. It’s a fun resort too. You. Can use the dvc pool FYI if needed.

My husband usually just goes down to bell services and they send him in a cab. I

Is your son a decent golfer? My 14 yo recently started but is not good by any stretch lol. My husband would love nothing more then to golf with him at disney.

He's 11, so not really. Nor am I. Lol. Spent more on balls than food that day. :earboy2:

THANK YOU Club Level Goddess @trishadono!
I'm so happy you weighed in... I really respect your knowledge, expertise, and sharing of your expansive knowledge on all things WDW!
Sending this out to TA today. I was sort of leaning towards Poly, but you've now cemented my decision.
We don't really care about TPV, mostly because the girls will love heading to the beach at night to watch the fireworks. What is your best recommendation for a room? Garden view, or Lake view?
TIA!

I'm with Trish on this..... I could give you equal reasons why I'd choose one over the other so it's really a toss up to preference at the end of the day, IMO.

I do think Poly rooms are more livable for four people than WL - the extra size/space can come in handy for some traveling types. Unless you're a "I don't care about the room" type, then it won't matter. There's just more space in the Poly rooms to breathe a bit, plus larger balconies (unless you're on the second floor which doesn't have a balcony).

Is one of the adults a male? I only ask as the bathroom setups are a little different between the two. Poly has the shower and sinks in the same area and a separate toilet room w/ a door. The shower is full transparent glass. Depending on your family dynamics it may make someone showering and someone else brushing their teeth a little awkward, just as an example. WL has the vanity in one area and toilet/shower in a separate area w/ a door- so it provides a bit more privacy for multiple people getting ready.

Although all of that is pretty minor as with the lounge steps away at both resorts it's easy to be somewhere else while others are getting ready - if any of that is even a concern in the first place. I only mention it as the new Poly clear shower area setup seems to get lots of 'comments' on the Poly thread.

I would expect the Poly Lava Pool to be busier than the WL feature pool, but only on the margins. The two leisure pools would probably be pretty equal, roughly speaking. While I think WL's pools are lovely, I much prefer the Poly pool setups with bars/food at each pool vs the shared Geyser Point setup at WL.

WL is a materially smaller CL by guest count than Poly. All CLs can be susceptible to crowds at peak times, but WL is probably a more relaxing CL experience, generally speaking.

Can't make a wrong choice, but on the whole - room size, immersion, transportation, convenience - I'd lean Poly, IMO.

Thank you so much!
Your and Trish's opinion are very valuable!
I've already contacted my TA and gave her the go ahead for Poly...
Of course those dates aren't available to book yet, but fingers crossed everything works out well ☺
Another quick question...
I asked Trish the same. Which would you recommend, Lake View or Garden View? I haven't stayed at Poly for many years. We had a GV room, (not CL) then.
Do you have a room request recommendation?
TIA!
I much appreciate your expertise!

April 2022 is open for booking, did you mean 2023? If you want 2022 you need to book something now, even if it’s not your ideal resort, just to assure you have something.

I know you aren't asking me, and might not care about my input, but especially at Poly and how close it is to TTC I find the water view rooms to be kinda loud with the boats. I always love the view, but don't love the draw back of the noise that comes with it especially with the ferry. Of course CL wasn't open when I was there in August, but I had a standard view (that wold be considered garden view because it was literally just of trees/bushes/and the like, it was really relaxing) and it was so quiet and nice. I was able to walk out and see the water whenever I wanted, and walked out to the beach to see the fireworks so I didn't care about the other booking categories not giving me that from my room. My room ended up feeling like an escape because it was like a little oasis view with quiet away from the hustle of the resort.

Thank you! And I should have written for anyone to weigh in! I am so sorry for being rude !

Our TA officially booked us at Poly 9/1 - 9/10. 7 days in a Standard room then 3 days CL in a Garden View room. I am so excited, I saw a video of the refurbed lounge on YouTube last night and it looks fantastic. The Poly is "our" place and we always loved it, but we are also both huge Moana fans so are really psyched for the changes. Can't wait until the first reports start rolling in! It's been such a long time coming for us, I really hope we'll be able to finally experience CL.

You weren’t being rude at all! I just haven’t been there as many times as some of them (now Epcot resorts, Riviera, I’ve done 3/4 of my stays over there), Poly was just my most recent trip and I made some mental notes regarding noise levels when I was there this go around for future stays. My daughters of around the same ages of your grands (currently 10 & 13, about to have birthdays), we’ve stayed at WL but they always love going to Poly. They may or may not especially love being able to get dole whips at whim lol

This makes me feel a lot better about our decision to stick with GV for the CL portion of our stay, so thank you for sharing. We are big on the room as an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the parks, which is a big reason why we stay deluxe in the first place.

With the refurb, do they still have rooms with tubs? Every room tour I've seen has the shower only setup. No kids here, just a spoiled princess adult that likes to enjoy a relaxing bath after park days (I still dream about that soaker jacuzzi tub in the Deluxe King rooms at the Grand!).

My room had a tub, it’s no king deluxe tub (I still dream of that tub too, had that on my first solo trip with a bath bomb from basin white, it was magical), but it’s still there. I’m sure there are rooms without tubs, but mine did still have a tub with the glass sliding doors.

I have been doing std when not cl. There are so many places to go I don’t mind the garden view. It’s quite a jump in price to have a view. I only do it when in Hawaii although not always.

Thank you so much for your sweet words:flower3:

Dd and I just switched our one night from Poly non cl to bwi cl for 1/14. My dis pal will be there and bwi staff has been amazing! Blue champagne upon request is kinda fun! Poly is my fav but no AP discount at poly and there is at BWI and when I told bwi cl manager I was staying at poly next she asked me to come back. Hard to say no to that!:flower1:

Yep dole whips are a draw for me too lol. See my avatar? 🍍

I love poly yet I do enjoy taking the boat over for a visit . I haven’t had time this year so hopefully soon. I love the creek in the lobby and the fireplaces!

I peeked up at it from the beach this past weekend! You can see some of the furniture. You can go in Hawaii so I walked about early December , I sure miss Hawaii!
