Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Kerry, I am so sorry to hear about your husband’s cancer diagnosis. I will be praying for the surgery to go well, no outer tissue involvement, and a comfortable recovery. I will also pray for you my dear friend to have peace. Stay positive, plan that trip, and know we all love you.
You are so sweet knowing what you are going through too. It was a shock, but I am glad the surgery is quick. Canceled our Arizona trip and now my daughter I’d coming here!

I really want it open for February. It is our 50th anniversary and I am hoping we will get to celebrate at the Innkeepers Club. We had some very shocking news this week and this anniversary has become super important. My wonderful husband has been diagnosed with colon cancer and is having surgery on Tuesday. We are certainly hoping for a positive outcome and praying for good news regarding surrounding tissue involvement. Jim promised me the Steeplechase Suite for our 50th and I am not letting him get away with not taking me! Prayers are appreciated!

I'm so sorry about your husband. Sending thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and recovery .

Remembered one more thing. You don't get CL privileges all day like you do at WDW. So you can't get breakfast on check in day and you can't get "dinner" on check out. I'm 87% sure you can only access the lounge, while you have access to your room. I have heard reports of people (pre-covid) that accessed it before official check out time and were allowed to stay but they had to leave before "dinner". And alcohol, beer, wine is ONLY served from 5-7pm. No morning mimosas 😪

Funny you posted this because I just called the hotel (think it was the hotel, but I don't know if it's like Disney where calls go to a call center) asking if we check in early (8-9am) and room isn't ready, if lounge privileges start immediately or if we have to wait until our room is ready. I was told the lounge is accessible immediately upon check in, but privileges end at 11am on check out day. We don't arrive in Orlando until 11:30pm so our plan is to stay at Hyatt MCO that first night and head to HRH first thing the next morning. I checked "early arrival" when I booked, so maybe we'll get lucky. Thanks for the heads up regarding beer/wine/alcohol service. It'll be interesting to compare Universal resort/CL to Disney resort/CL :).

Interesting that HRH kicks you out of CL at 11am. I don't think there are very many people who eat or drink heavy on checkout day, travel is so much easier without anything bogging me down. I just enjoy having a quiet place away from the lobby to hang in until I have to leave.

I found locking us out to be annoying at RPR, seemed to be whenever we were returning from the parks, we'd want to pick up a soda on the way back to the room to rest. Finding the doors shut gave me the choice of trekking back down to someplace to grab a drink or waiting for the lounge to open, watching the clock. Obviously we were exhausted so stayed put. Noted other guests hanging out on the benches by the doorway waiting for the same.
I learned to keep an extra drink in the fridge back in the room.

Never felt welcome at RPR the same way I did at AKL.

Lots of prayers coming your way! I'd just keep reminding him nothing can happen to him because he's taking you, I generally like to keep myself in line that way when I have health stuff, I made a promise so now I have to work hard to keep it. Hopefully everything turns out well with the surgery, I know this is a bit of a rough one, but you have a lot of us here praying and cheering you guys on.

I have this feeling the minute CL is available again, many of us will be there mashing buttons to get it booked. :)
I was contemplating not renewing my AP since I only have one for sure trip after our May/June trip this year (and then the AP expires the following week). Then I realized that I'm gonna want to have it just in case CL opens back up! I know I'm gonna have to find a way to make that happen, and who wants to have to buy more tickets?

I think my favorite photos of Disney trips are the unexpected moments. Took some time the other morning at Riviera to enjoy coffee on one of the mini patios off the lobby and snapped a pic of my view. Didn’t even see the hidden Mickey in the railing until I looked at the photo lol.

The next one was coming out of lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby. We love the chipmunks and all of the sudden there they were having a picnic and playing around!

I’m so incredibly sorry that you are going through this. I am wishing your husband the most positive of outcomes and I know that you will have a fantastic 50th together at your special place

I feel the same way. That's one of the main reasons I book CL is so we have a place to sit and relax while waiting to leave. I was kind of surprised when I found out access ended at 11am, guess I just assumed it was the same as Disney CL.

I love the Mickey's in the railing at Riviera, such a beautiful touch (and I'm supper excited to be there in a little over a month!). My oldest daughter freaked out one night while we were leaving HS and saw Donald watering flowers, he's her absolute favorite (no lie, cries when she sees him lol), and it just made her day to see him out just hanging around. I think this is one of my favorite things to come from all the covid changes. We hated waiting in line to meet characters, and it was just a chore, but absolutely adore just seeing them out goofing around randomly in the parks.

Thank you so much for the photos. You captured the "magic" that most people miss about Disney.

Kerry,

Thanks for sharing your family's challenge with your DIS family and you plan for your 50th Anniversary with your DIS family. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for a great positive outcome on Tuesday and a February 2022 50th Anniversary to remember until your 75th Anniversary with Jim by your side.

We stayed next door to the Steeplechase Suite in 2005 in room 4239 and loved looking west across the Steeplechase Suite's expansive balcony on a February 25h evening and enjoyed watching the Boardwalk come alive with activity.

Just a Page 2 Rescue.

Been watching all the DL reopening activity today.

Makes me hopeful for a continued slow return to normal WDW operations sometime soon.

Also have been thinking a lot about many of our CL CM friends lately. So much time has now passed, it’s just crazy to stop and think about it.

Have a great weekend everyone. We’ll all be enjoying dessert service sometime soon. :-)

Glad surgery went as well as can be expected. Hoping that testing reveals the best possible outcome.
Not the results we were hoping for, but at least the lymph nodes were clear. The tumor penetrated the colon wall, so we will see an oncologist next week for a treatment plan.
Just to let you all know, I heard from Cogsworth’s husband yesterday and her surgery went fine too. She is doing good.

Y’all are in my thoughts and prayers, I hope the treatment goes well and your husband beats this thing ASAP. And I am glad to hear about Cogsworth, she was on my mind all day yesterday. Thank you for updating us.

Sorry it wasn't what you were hoping. So thankful the nodes were clear. Good luck at the oncologist. 🙏 thanks for the update on Cogsworth 🙏
