Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

We arrive in a week, and no one from the GF concierge staff has reached out to me. Typical? We haven’t stayed CL for a while as we became DVC owners, so we usually stay on points, but we used to stay CL quite a bit... 🤷🏼‍♀️
In my experience, it's not unusual. Disney's IT is not the best. When I don't hear from DSS first, I just contact them myself.
The great thing is that it's easy to reach out to DSS by phone or email.

You don’t have to wait for them to call, you can reach out by phone or email anytime!

I actually just called myself!! We are a month away from our GF SL stay and I wanted to note my DS’s food allergies! They couldn’t have been nicer!!

Hope you have a great trip!

We were a little disappointed in our AKL stay. The construction seemed to take away from the feel. They have really upped the food at the afternoon offerings with added soups.

Hi. Was your room view affected? Were you 4th floor, Zebra trail?
Where exactly is the construction. I know Kudu Trail, but is there equipemnt in lobby? On Arusha? How was pool area? Thanks

Hi we were on Zebra trail Arusha 4th floor. We didn’t see nearly the animals as previous trips. We could also see large equipment which was located on the Kudu side from our balcony. The pool was great. No construction in that part. The lobby has a large walled off part around the check-in area.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been seeing pics of heavy equipment on the Kudu trail on another chat group and was wondering how it was impacting the CL rooms and views at AKL.

DD and I have a trip (split stay WL CL and BC CL) planned in July. I booked as a bounce back package. My final payment/cancellation date is rapidly approaching. My mother is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. We don’t know how much longer she has left, but I don’t think it is long. If she is still alive in July, my daughter and I would not go on our trip. If my mother has passed away before then, we would really like to go. Disney is our “happy place.”

I'm so sorry about your mom. Sending prayers to you and your family .

My mother passed away unexpectedly in February and it's unimaginable.

I'm so sorry for you loss .

As others have posted, some people get a call and/or email and some don't. I got a call a few months ago for our upcoming YC CL stay, but for my BWI CL and Poly CL stays last year, I only got a call for my BWI stay. Hope you have a great trip :).

We just got back from a great stay at Yacht and AKL. First time staying club level at the Yacht Club. We loved it. My daughter loved the ice cream in the freezer always available and the candy.

We were a little disappointed in our AKL stay. The construction seemed to take away from the feel. They have really upped the food at the afternoon offerings with added soups. We encountered a couple of outstanding club level CMs who went out of their way to help us (Katie and Michael) and a couple who really were not very good. I didn’t catch their names but the two times as asked them a question I felt that I was aggravating/bothering them.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I have my first YC CL stay coming up in a week, so glad to hear that you enjoyed it :).

I'm sorry your AKL CL stay was sort of disappointing, but hope your stay/trip overall was nice :flower3:.

We check in next week. Love the lodge and hopefully won't mind the construction. Just will be happy to be there, but good to be prepared.

Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Quick report that changes are on the way at BWI CL. I'm torn.
First, Jay has moved on to a new position, a promotion so yay for him. Sad to lose him though. Redgie is staying on
Second in the next few weeks they are changing over from a Flying Fish menu to a Tratoria based menu. Primarily to have more kid friendly options. Among other reasons
While I'll miss the favorites from Flying Fish I do look forward to new options as frequent guest

At the risk of coming across negative before trying it (such a DISer thing to do!), I am glad we enjoyed the BWI CL when we did. The Flying Fish offerings were really the best. I've perused the menu at Trattoria and its heavy focus on pizza, pasta and breaded chicken is not my thing. I still miss Kouzzina. :guilty:

Trattoria instead of Flying Fish? I fear that is a huge step down.
I hope Redgie comes up with some dishes that are appealing with his new ingedient source.

they used to mix the dishes with all 3 menus, ESPN, Fiying Fish and Tratoria. So parts won’t be new
Then they switched to just Flying Fish.
Now it’s just going to be Tratoria
For now.
But yes, Redgie has said he fully intends to put his flair on it

I always appreciate you sharing info on what's new at BWI CL. It's very helpful. :flower3:
The most positive news I see in this is that Redgie is still in charge.

Thanks for the update. I am not surprised. When we were there last week, I noticed several families with kids asking for "kid friendly" options. Redgie whipped up some mac and cheese one night and there were hot dogs the next night. It's hard to accommodate everyone. I actually was surprised so many people were asking for other options. I'm a vegetarian and I've learned to roll with what's available or find an option somewhere else.

Yeah, it had gotten out of hand. It’s one of those, one family asks, then someone sees it, then they ask, then so on and so on. It was never designed to be a request your own kids food thing. But when Redgie saw some kid complaining about the food, the offered and it steamrolled from there
Plus, some people complained about the smells from cooking fish in the lounge. A lot did. To the point that during our April trip the kitchen manager made them stop cooking the dish one night and did it all in the kitchen downstairs and brought it up finished. But it was fried instead of pann seared. Not as good quite frankly. But, made whatever guests where complaining happy.
They did not design the lounge with cooking in mind so ventalation has always been an issue. I think some more with it will be coming too. From the sounds of things but I didn’t get 100% of the changes on the way

I saw a family (grandparents with grandkids) in the same situation last weekend. They were given chicken fingers, which, I thought, was quite above-and-beyond service considering how busy the place was. My DD is pescatarian and we also learned to roll with what is available and we fill in with options from somewhere else (and yes, it;s Disney, so one night, it was Ample Hills ice cream). They clearly try to accommodate, but at the end of the day, CL is not a restaurant where you order from a menu. It's light bites and beverage offerings and you can enjoy them or not.

WWYD...Room Request SL

Originally I had the following request all set to go to send in an email to DSS in June (woah...it's June!) for our late August trip. "3rd floor, facing NW, near conch key, ex 6327"

But now I'm re thinking it as I'm gonna be in a scooter (foot surgery) and wondering if I should change my request to a ground floor room or is SL that small that it shouldn't matter much with a scooter. I really would prefer not to be on the ground floor or close to an elevator but if it is more convenient to be with a scooter then I might consider it.

For me, I would not request ground floor for fear of being in one of the first floor rooms that surround the lounge. There are very few CL rooms at any resort that I really would not want - most of them are SL first floor. :-) Although in fairness there aren’t that many of those rooms.

The elevators are quick and the building is relatively small. While I don’t have personal experience with a scooter, I don’t think being on an upper floor will pose any material challenges.

That’s my 1 cent. :-)

Oh, I am disappointed to hear this. I really enjoyed the offerings from Flying Fish, and they were easily modified for my allergies (wheat, peanut & dairy) by just leaving items off my plate. I am worried that the Italian offerings from Tratoria will be much less food allergy friendly.
