Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

We are going to order a special cake for DS birthday on this trip. Last year, we ordered at the Contemporary, but we were not CL and it was a pain trying to get someone to call us back initially. Has anyone used DSS to order a specialty cake? I'm wondering if that would be a smoother process.
It has been hit or miss for me. Once they gave me the number to call myself because I wanted a specific cake. Last December when my husband called to get a cake for me they were able to help him. I think it was because he just got a generic cake from the Boardwalk bakery. He never does any planning and really wanted to surprise me. I think they felt sorry for him!

That’s so cute! I was hoping it would make it easier, but I guess I’ll start chasing people down myself. Haha. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion!! What a great idea. I just checked, and with the AP rate, I actually save $300. I’m kind of worried about losing my FPS, though. Since I would be switching from one on-site stay to another, I’m guessing it won’t be a problem?
Book the AP rooms first and then cancel your Bounceback reservation (you'll have to call to cancel the Bounceback) *or* call and ask to switch your bounceback to an AP. You will NOT lose your FPs. I just verified this, they are not tied to a specific reservation. It just checks to see if you have an onsite reservation.

As long as you're immediately making a new reservation you won't lose your FP's. Rather than cancel and book, I'd change your existing reservation online. I just did it when I switched from Boardwalk to AKL last week and it's really easy to do.

Has anyone stayed in the two bedroom suite Club Level at the Yacht Club? Is the price point double of that for a regular 2-queen bed room? Where are the rooms located? Thanks for your help. :-)

She has a bounceback, and they cannot be changed or modified online. She has to call to change or modify it. Also, she can't modify from a package to room only online. So, her two options are to either book the AP rate online and call to cancel the BB or call to have Guest Services switch the reservation from a ticketless bounceback package to a room only AP rate.

That’s what I get for not reading the entire thread. lol At any rate, it won’t affect her fp selections as long as she books another on site resort.

Thank you! I was able to get one reservation (WL) at least changed to room-only with the passholder rate. The other doesn’t have availability for my dates unless I upgrade to a different room category. But if I lose $200, it’s not a big deal. My worry was losing the entire price of the vacation, so I’m relieved that won’t happen to me and at least I was able to switch one of my stays. Thanks for helping me figure this out, I really appreciate it!

YMMV, but my experience with DSS and cakes is that they'll just give you the number for the Cake hotline and it's up to you to do the rest. I have read reports of more involved assistance from DSS on this thread over time, so hence my YMMV note. You may come across a different experience than me.

Let us know how it goes!

We stayed in a YC 2BR suite last December. It's pretty hard to find accurate info online and around the DIS about these rooms as reports are infrequent and there are a few varieties of 2BR suites - some are only bookable via phone, some online... so it's kind of confusing. We stayed in the version you can book online - "2 Bedroom Suite - Club Level Access".

Here's a detailed post from our stay on the YC/BC thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...-on-page-1-post-1-13-14.3400342/post-60268965

Happy to answer any questions.

DD and I have a trip (split stay WL CL and BC CL) planned in July. I booked as a bounce back package. My final payment/cancellation date is rapidly approaching. My mother is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. We don’t know how much longer she has left, but I don’t think it is long. If she is still alive in July, my daughter and I would not go on our trip. If my mother has passed away before then, we would really like to go. Disney is our “happy place.”

I’m wondering if anyone has advice for me. If I wait and need to cancel, I wouldn’t be able to and get a refund, correct? I don’t want to cancel our trip now, though, and rebook it for a later date. If we are at a place where we are able to go on our trip, my daughter and I both agree that we would like to go. I have no idea what to do. I did use a credit card that offers trip cancellation insurance. I’ve read the terms carefully, and my situation definitely meets the criteria. Ideally I’d like not to do this, though. Has anyone been in a similar position? What are the odds Disney would allow me to cancel (with a refund) closer to the date of my trip? I’ve already called and asked if I can switch my reservations to room-only, and it’s not possible to do it. I’m under so much stress already with my mother so ill (I am taking care of her full-time), that the last thing I need is a Disney vacation making me feel more stressed. I want Disney to remain my happy place, not cause me additional stress. Anyone know?
So sorry to hear an your mom. My mother passed away unexpectedly in February and it's unimaginable. Sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your mom. As for your reservation I would keep it. I've purchased travel insurance before and it's very easy to use. I also took a trip to Puerto Rico in April (6 weeks after my mom passed) and it was the best thing I did. We really needed it as a f8. I would use the insurance or just lose the 200.

The cost for the online bookable 2BR-CL is triple that of a standard view 2QB-CL.
EDIT: Sorry, I meant the cost is triple that of the water view 2QB-CL (more like 3.5X). Which would make it quadruple the SV 2QB-CL??

I am so sorry for your family. I wish you peace and hope your mother’s pain is and stays minimal.

Like @jods, I was going to recommend trip insurance. Credit card trip cancellation insurance can be pretty good, but true trip insurance does offer a lot more flexibility and benefits. Disney insurance for 2 should be cheaper than then the $200 cancellation fee, and preexisting conditions exclusions are waived as long as you add it before trip final payment. It also includes travel to and from Disney. I have called the Disney provider before, and they are good at answering questions and validating coverage. I think we have used it for every trip—even last minute ones. Disney is my cancer “happy place,” too.

I know I said I used travel insurance before. Here's more details, I used Allianz travel. It was about 170ish last year. We were in the Bahamas and our flight home was cancelled due to weather and flooding in NY. We spent an extra 3 or 4 days in the Bahamas. The insurance covered everything (that I saved a receipt.for). They paid all meals, our hotel and even our extra cab fees to and from the airport. Some of the meals had alcohol on it (several drinks each for me and my husband). I had a check for everything we submitted within 2 weeks. It was probably about 2000. We were thrilled, I would have been happy with half. I always get insurance now because you never know what life has in store.

We arrive in a week, and no one from the GF concierge staff has reached out to me. Typical? We haven’t stayed CL for a while as we became DVC owners, so we usually stay on points, but we used to stay CL quite a bit... 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just booked out AKL stay for July about 10 days ago and got a call last Thursday.

Many people get a call and/or postcard from Disney Signature Services (DSS) within a few weeks of booking. Some never get this, for unknown reasons.

In addition to this, SOME CLs have been doing outreach directly from a CL CM in the days leading up to arrival. This can be via phone and/or e-mail and it is from a CM actually at the resort in question. The only place I’ve seen this consistently done (from reports) is WL, but I have seen a few recent reports on this thread of direct outreach from a few others (but this seems less consistent just judging by reports, hard to tell though).

If you haven’t stayed CL since the change to DSS a few years ago, DSS took the place of the individual CL/resort Itinerary Planning Office (IPO), which used to do the outreach.

Hope you enjoy your trip to GF.

CL never contacts me in advance. I did contact them about a month ago to put a room request in. We arrive tonight (YC CL).

We just got back from a great stay at Yacht and AKL. First time staying club level at the Yacht Club. We loved it. My daughter loved the ice cream in the freezer always available and the candy.

We were a little disappointed in our AKL stay. The construction seemed to take away from the feel. They have really upped the food at the afternoon offerings with added soups. We encountered a couple of outstanding club level CMs who went out of their way to help us (Katie and Michael) and a couple who really were not very good. I didn’t catch their names but the two times as asked them a question I felt that I was aggravating/bothering them.

Let me know if you have any questions!
