Sorry, I don't know how to do multiple quotes so my reply is for everyone that commented:)
It's not just my friends, if you check out the UK site The Dibb, similar to this site, you'll be amazed (and entertained, gotta love the English sense of humour!) by what's happening. People are being told by Disney, catorgorically, Disney, that they won't get both. But they've been telling us all sorts of differing things since this broke back in February. Now people are beginning to check in, we're waiting to hear how they fare.
Catching up with this thread this morning, I've just read someone being denied a gift card because they accepted a reduction in room rate, when others on here have posted they checked in and got both. It's really poor customer service and not what we've come to expect from Disney.
The lack of consistency is concerning ☹️
 
I literally (5 minutes ago) checked in, got my gift card no problem, on top of the 75/night credit.
I was also told that they're having issue with the food tent and the opr construction may be pushed back till may 8.

I've got a non-construction or gift card question so hopefully that is still allowed these days :-)

We are booked at CBR from 3-11 November. We got a great room only rate and booked when the gift cards were being given out so we're happy on that front. However, the only room we could get was a Pirate room which I have less than zero interest in staying in. I've been stalking the disney site hoping another room type would eventually open up, but no luck thus far. This morning I was wondering if a particular date of our trip was causing the issue so I started to play around with the dates. Basically every room category is available for 3-9 November and if I look individually (but not together) for 9-10 November and 10-11 November there is quite a bit of non pirate options too, including a standard room. So my question why can I can see a standard room available for the entire length of my trip independently, but if I look to make a single reservation for the entire data range it shows no availability?

...I will be arriving on the 8th and I don´t know what to expect. I am a little worried :( Btw no gift cards for me either because I booked 4 weeks ago...At least they offered me a room discount which I gladly took. I am still very much looking forward to that trip and can't believe how lucky I am to be able to travel all the way from Europe to Florida :)

Thank goodness you also received your gift card. It's a real shame management is starting the practice of denying both the discount and the gift cards to guests who got both.....just really poor guest service on their part!

I'm also not surprised in the least that the construction is being pushed back. When we checked out yesterday the food tent was still under major construction. Most of our 7 day stay while visiting OPR was pure chaos. They only have one drink station opened at OPR and ice is at a premium since their ice machine is broken. I was told the 2 out of 3 drink stations were shut down because of the planned move to the tent- I do hope they reinstate those machines now that tent construction is delayed. There were several days that they had no iced tea or minute maid lemonade...just soda which I don't drink. I did not use of the 3 island drink stations since those were installed the day before we left.

I can't answer the "why" part of your question but this very thing has happened to me before. I encourage you to contact Guests Services and ask them to switch you to a standard room since it is showing availability on your dates. I did this before and was successful :)
 
Oh no this makes me nervous. Are you talking about the $75 room credit offered initially? Or a room discount? We were offered the $75 gift cards, and then modified for a room discount for the fall. We've been told we will get both via verbal and written communication but I'm nervous after your experience
Our travel agent got us a room discount of 75 on 2/24 then they emailed us stating we would give us a 25 gc upon check in. Then on 2/28 they sent us another email with our names and reservation # stating that they were now giving us a 75 gc upon check in. Now they are refusing.

I would get in touch with my TA & get her involved. I would be livid... without the 75 GC I would not be staying at CBR.

This is unacceptable. Call Guest Relations/Communications at 407-939-7410 and explain what is happening; they should be able to help you. Good luck and report back what happens!

I did she had been transferred over 4x and they are saying the offers cannot be combined even though nowhere in either emails does it say offers cannot be combined. She is at a loss as well

They said it was a blanket email. Even though it arrived with my name and reservations #. It also showed up 4 days after we were given our room 75 dollar discount. And plenty of time to update their system if we weren't eligible. This was also after the 25 gc email. I am heading to speak with manager last night check in was awful and demeaning and said I should be happy and I have been compensated plenty.

Strange. Wonder if they got a notice after the first few arrived to stop allowing both? When did you arrive, compared to the PP?
 
agree...call them..they cannot offer something then take it away..thats totally illegal, that is called bait and switch.
I called them they said that the email came from Caribbean beach resort and that they have no control over it.

I'm so sorry that you were treated so unfairly and poorly by CBR management. There is no excuse for what happened to you at check-in. I am disgusted for you. :worried:

I just went back and spoke to manager she once again states that I received the email in error and that they will not compensate me any further that she doesn't believe other people received the room credit and the gift card that "I can't believe everything you read online. That it was an either or and that I have already been credited on the room and that they won't speak to me further on that matter.
