Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Can I ask how much the gift card was? I found on Google that they were offering $75 for a limited time and only for stays from May 1 - June 30. Then I found something about $25.
We are staying at CBR in december and are receiving a $75 gift card per room per night of our stay.

Found this CBR info on TP. Interesting!

New Alert: Update to Caribbean Beach Resort Refurbishment
Disney World's Caribbean Beach Resort will be undergoing a major refurbishment beginning in May 2017. This alert overrides the previous one, as we now have some official information. In short, the food court and Shutters table service restaurant will be closed for several months, but the main pool will remain open. Disney is compensating with $75 gift cards per room per night that they will automatically supply to anyone checking in May 1 or after. We will continue to update as the full impact is discovered. The following is direct from Disney's website: "Beginning in May 2017, the following venues will be closed for refurbishment: Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Banana Cabana Pool Bar, and Calypso Trading Post. During this time, there will be a variety of dining options available to you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Centertown, a dining location, will serve a Caribbean-style buffet for breakfast and à la carte offerings for dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be conveniently available for purchase in 3 new island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the Resort. Our in-room dining will remain available. Disney dining plans will be accepted for these offerings. Dining locations will make every effort to assist you with your dietary needs. As a result, Guests staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will receive a $75 Disney Gift Card per room for each night of their stay at check in. This gift card can be used at participating Walt Disney World Resort Food & Beverage and Merchandise locations. For complete terms and conditions, please visit disneygiftcard.com. We received this exact email from disney weeks ago. March 7 to be exact.

Really? I only needed one night to add on so I booked one in October. Hoping that I receive an email. If not, no harm but will just wait to get a better rate, cancel and rebook. :thanks:

I'll be getting $75 per night of our stay, but I booked before the March 19th cutoff.

Not a biggie. I needed something for one night anyway. Worse case scenario, if I don't get Gift Card email, I will wait for Passholder rates and then cancel and rebook. :thanks:

If you just booked there is no gift card. They ended with bookings made after march 19.

Agree Sharongal74!

From what I can tell, CBR needed to have been booked before a certain date to receive the gift card offer. If a stay in booked now, there is no gift card. I hope that the disruption is not as bad people fear. The construction starts 5/1, so I am eager to hear what people say once they experience the inconveniences.

Me too! I can't wait to hear people's reports and see what the grab and go and centertown look like. I also can't wait to see what the changes will be when it is done!

I'm sure this has been asked before but I figured I would be the annoying person who asks again :p Does anyone know what the schedule is like for the refurbs going on at CBR? I saw that they are supposed to start in May but is there an end date? We could possibly be staying here in December but I wanted to know before I book what all is going to be closed or being worked on.

Supposed to go through 2018.

We're just back from an 8 night stay at CBR. We've stayed there before but not for several years. I liked the new furniture in the rooms, especially the fact that each nightstand has outlets and USB ports built in, and there were outlets and USB ports on either side of the entertainment center, or whatever it's called. Sure beats trying to look behind the bed or other furniture hoping to find a free outlet. And having six drawers for clothing was nice - DH and I each had three drawers, which was plenty for us. One thing I didn't like was the lighting over the bed. It's one long fixture that stretches the width of the bed, so even if one side is turned off, the light is pretty bright for the person on the other side. Would much prefer individual lamps on each side And it was especially annoying that the light switches for both sides of the light over the bed were on the same side of the king sized bed, which makes no sense. I didn't have access to the light switch for the light over my side of the bed. The fridge had a large footprint, but it had a rather surprisingly small amount of interior space, and no freezer . We could fit a gallon of water by removing or raising the top shelves, but the inside space is quite shallow, and there's no storage space at all in the door - it's just a clear plexiglass door. The thermostat won't go any lower than 68, which wasn't an issue for us. Mousekeeping was good every day, and they promptly brought the extra blanket that we requested and kept our soap and shampoo well stocked. Buses were great, and we never waited more then 15 minutes for a bus to any park. We were in Jamaica, which is usually the first bus stop. Very convenient on busy mornings because you're virtually guaranteed a seat. There were times when the bus would fill completely and couldn't pick up any more people after a few stops and had to bypass the last couple stops. We usually ate breakfast at the food court and occasionally found it fairly crowded, but there were always seats to be had, and they open up the Shutters dining room for more space if necessary. We used the quiet pool several evenings, and it really is quiet. There were never more than a handful of people there, and those with children stay in the shallower end, so adults can have the other end more or less to themselves.

The aren't offering the GC anymore that ended march 19th or 20th.

I modified an existing reservation in August this week. Because I have horrible luck I finally waited on line on Monday to get the summer discount applied and then the next day AP discounts came out. At any rate, I was told by two separate CM's that as long as it is an existing reservation made before the March 20th cut off you do get the $75 a night gift card discount. Any reservations made after March 20th no gift card.

We are going for a week in May with the AP discount and gift card bonus and then in August for five nights. I want to do one more trip before our AP's expire; now I wish I had booked that at CBR too!

Ok, so from what I understand there is a quick service type place/grab and go going in at the Trinidad area correct? Any ideas where exactly it will be going in?

Made a reservation here for the $75 gift card for mid/late August but I was thinking we'd be able to get a room discount. Unfortunately they only offer this for the pirate rooms, which my kids would probably dig, but I wasn't keen on the distant location from the main pool.
