Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Is there a facebook page for CBR to keep updated on the resort news and construction? I know Buzz has one for CSR so I was wondering if there was anything similar for CBR.

I don't think so. I'm not on Facebook, but I've not heard mention of one here.

So if you decide to start one, be sure to let us know. :)

The biggest reason we don't choose a value resort is because we like to stay where its quiet. Our stay at CSR was great. Never heard a sound from those around us and the place was pretty much sold out. I assume there are a lot more children and noise at the values. Do you seasoned WDW folks think this is true?
I'm defiantly not seasoned, but we stayed at Pop our last trip and didn't find it loud or rowdy at all. It's probably because of where we were located though. We were in the 80s section on the other side of the pool. There were a few times we wondered if anyone was in the rooms around us because of how quiet it was. Had we been closer to the main pool I'm sure that would have been different.

Just another experience to share.....booked Labor Day back when they were offering the GCs. Just called to move to a full week in August (12th-19th) and get the Summer Package offer. I'm still getting the GCs because I booked before they took them away! I had to ask specifically, and the CM had to go to a supervisor, but the answer was yes, absolutely, you still get them.

Granted, I booked a king room, which what was left for the summer package rate during those dates, but I'm the only one in my room, so it worked out very well for me.

So call and ask!

Good to know! Thanks, Moramoon.

Are the pools (both main and quiet) heated? When I was in Orlando last week it got a little on the cool side at night

Yes... the quiet pools are all heated. My DD has enjoyed the pools every trip in all kinds of weather (even rain!). We have visited in April, May, and October in various years. We only used the feature pool last trip in May and it was very warm outside so I didn't notice if it were heated.

I just updated the first post to include information that is known relative to the refurb and rumors floating around. Here's what was included:

**Beginning May 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 (dates subject to change as are all things at WDW) the resort will be undergoing a major refurbishment. The following information was provided to Disney Travel Agents:

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort:
Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post.

There will be a variety of dining options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Centertown, a dining location, will serve an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet for breakfast and dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be conveniently available for purchase in three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the Resort. Additional a la carte offerings will be available at mobile food vending locations. Our in-room dining will remain available. Any work most likely to cause a noise impact will not begin until 9:00 a.m.

The above is the official word. What we don't know is where the dining location will be in Centertown (also known as Old Port Royale) or what selections will be available as far as meals go.

For a while, Guests or their travel agents who were booking their reservations were offered a $75 per night gift card for their inconvenience. Then it was dropped to $25 per night. This applied for stays that fell after the construction/refurbishment was to begin.

I along with several others have been told by Disney cast members that the village of Barbados and possibly some of Martinique will be turned into DVC. They wouldn't go so far as to tell us if the buildings will be torn down and rebuilt but that's what the rumor is.

Additionally, there's a rumor circulating on the Disboards that a gondola station will be constructed at the resort. What is being said by fellow Disboard members and others on the internet is that the skyway/gondola system will be a selling point for those looking to buy into DVC. The skyway system plans appears to show the new gondola transportation system linking Disney's Hollywood Studios, Art of Animation Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort and Epcot. If you'd like to read more information about this, you can find it here.

Thanks! This was my exact question as I was reading that. Very interesting to follow along to see where Centertown is going to end up being (and what)
Wondering, based on what we understand the construction is going to be, do we think all of the building known as Old Port Royale is closing?
Any best guesses/speculation (because it's so fun to speculate)?

I just changed my reservation to get the summer rate. But, I too, booked during the gift certificate offer. Are you saying I need to call or is the email I received with my original booking going to get me my gift certificates?

With the way that Old Port Royale is set up, they could possibly block off the majority of the building and set up a temporary area for the buffet. I know that they did something similar when they were redoing the food court at All Star Sports.

Remain confused here... received the $75 email for my mother's reservation, which is 4/24-4/27, as well as my own which is 4/24-5/4. Hoping to receive the gift card for the full duration of both stays, as that is certainly what the email implied. "As a thank you for your continued patronage, you will be receiving a $75 Disney Gift Card per room for each night of your stay upon check-in at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. If you were previously offered a $25 Disney Gift Card per room for each night of your stay, this will replace that offer."

I think that a lot of folks are confused as Disney Travel seems to be much like the DMV (makes up their rules as they go along). Some were told that it wouldn't start until after the construction started and some have gotten emails similar to your's. I do know that one of my fellow agents had clients check in last week. They had been told they were getting the $25 a night gift card but when they arrived they were told no. After much to-do and getting supervisors involved, they were given the gift card.

I don't see anything mentioned about if there will be anywhere to grab an alcholic drink at CBR during the refurb, has anyone heard of there will be a temporary bar?
