Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

@Suzanne74 since you were there recently, can you tell me whether the disposable cups in the rooms have lids? Looking at the pictures on page 1 of the thread, I don't see any lids near the cups, so my assumption was that there are no lids, but I wanted to confirm (trying to figure out how to take a hot beverage "to go" in the morning). Thanks!

For all of our stays there have been lids. Last month my in-laws had lids.

I can get it for $146 a night with my passholder discount. That makes it harder to pass up

Wow that's a phenomenal rate! What dates were you looking at? I'm looking for the Fall but there aren't any special discounts yet for October.

Hi everyone! We decided to take advantage of the gift card deal and booked our next stay at CBR for May 2018 (I know, it's a ways out, but that was the only time that worked with DH and DS's school schedules without taking a trip in the middle of summer). Right now we're scheduled to check in on a Thursday, but we decided it would be best to drive since we have 2 little ones and a lot of stuff we'd need to take with us so it would just be easier. My first question is right now we're booked in a pool/lake view room. Since we're going to change our check in date to Friday instead of Thursday I was contemplating seeing if they had standard rooms available. Do these tend to be noisy? I keep thinking if we'd end up with a room right next to the parking lot and I'm a little worried about a lot of noise during nap time. My second question is kind of odd and I'm not sure anyone will know the answer to yet, but I figured I'd ask anyway. DH and DS really got into pin trading after our last trip and I noticed they have a nightly pin trading event at the Straw Market. I saw it on the calendar for April, but I was wondering if they'd still be doing this once the construction starts. I read they have a huge pin board and I know DH and DS would love to check it out.

I can't say for sure. I don't remember them but we aren't coffee drinkers, just tea and they didn't offer tea. We only used the cups to hold our toothbrushes in the bathroom. If they did have lids, it must have been in the separate bag with the coffee supplies. The cups were stacked within one another separate from the supply bag. Sorry I can't be more help :(

We stayed in a standard room. It was extremely quiet for us. It faced inwards to the grass and village walkways and I could barely see the driving circle. Most of the rooms are not set right in front of the parking lot like I remember OKW did. They all seem to run diagonal or are pushed back enough from the lot, and even if you were close, the bus stops are in the far back of the parking lots. The parking lots were barely half full and we were there during a very busy week. Honestly, I never understood the reason to upgrade to a better view in non-balcony room hotels. Most of the time our drapes were closed for privacy since there is only a window and people walk by it all the time. Also, I don't know for sure, but with the fences around all the pools my guess is pool view is only the 2nd floor. I would not want 2nd floor with 2 young ones AT ALL. There are no elevators and I saw enough families dealing with strollers going up/down the stairs to assure you, you wouldn't like it.

Not sure about the pin trading. I have a feeling no one will know until the June activities calendar comes out.

We had a room facing parking lot and by a bus stop. Sometimes you could hear the bus beeping as it got lowered. But it was never real loud. Just in the distance.

Thanks! 2nd story isn't a deal breaker, but I'd definitely like to avoid it if I can. I'm glad to hear it's not too loud.

Wish I knew where the $25 gift card information on CBR came from. Found both that and a $75 gift card on Touring Plans. Don't know which will apply to my reservation in October. Just booked one night so we'll see.

Found this CBR info on TP. Interesting!

New Alert: Update to Caribbean Beach Resort Refurbishment
Disney World's Caribbean Beach Resort will be undergoing a major refurbishment beginning in May 2017. This alert overrides the previous one, as we now have some official information. In short, the food court and Shutters table service restaurant will be closed for several months, but the main pool will remain open. I saw that. They haven't updated since Disney changed the info on the website. They'll catch it eventually (this info went up several days after it was announced)

We just got back on Saturday. We stated in Martinique 24.

We didn't have a luggage rack. I thought the bench was considered one so I never thought to ask.

We also did not have a tray or glassware. We had a coffee maker, coffee supplies and 4 plastic cups on top of the dresser.

We did have the colorful runner but the rest of the bed was white. No colorful pillows, just white ones. I just thought that is the way it was supposed to be.

We did not have a pull down bed so I can't say anything about that.
That's what I've seen in most all the rooms, from Value to Deluxe
The spreads/pillows are plain, there is only a runner. Some have a color pillow that decorates the bed but not all
When the room has had a bench there has not been a luggage rack (I know POFQ was like this, our most recent Resort)
Seems like we've had a tray under the coffee pot but can't remember for sure. Didn't really need one one way or the other

I did not realize that they supplied lids! I was going to pack some cups with lids for our trip, guess I do not have to!
There always have been in our rooms. DH uses the cups with lids as his spit cup (nasty Skoal habit). These are small and he keeps one in his pocket

Ok. I just got this alert in my email from TP about a $75 gift card offer...AND I also just got the one below from TP. What!? Which I knew if it will be $75 or $25?

New Alert: Caribbean Beach Resort Major Refurbishment
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort will begin a major refurbishment project beginning in May 2017. They are thoroughly redoing the Old Port Royale area and the food court, Shutters restaurant, and the Banana Cabana pool bar will all be closed. In addition, the lodging areas of Martinique and Barbados will be unavailable during the construction. Several temporary dining options will be available including a breakfast buffet and a la carte dinner, temporary markets for grab-and-go food, and a new quick service location in the Trinidad area. The Fuentes del Morro pool area will remain open. If you have a reservation at the Caribbean Beach Resort during this period, be aware that pathways and views may be impacted. Disney is providing guests with a $25 gift card per room per night, contact Disney directly for details.

Can I ask how much the gift card was? I found on Google that they were offering $75 for a limited time and only for stays from May 1 - June 30. Then I found something about $25.
