Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

I would suggest doing Online Check In and just skip the room request section since your requests are already noted. If you prefer a Corner Room over a 2nd floor room, then I would call and edit your requests. If you would prefer a 2nd floor room over a Corner room then I would leave them be.

Thank you!!

Good morning to you all.
My family and me will stay at the CBR on spring break from March 10 - March 19.
I am about to make my requests but I have some very simple questions before.
Please bear in mind that walking is not an issue whatsoever. We actually enjoy it.
Our room is a standard and we are going to use Disney Transportation to get to the parks.

1- On the way to the parks, which village is the one they pick up first?
2- I do not want to be near any construction noise or sight so Trinidad South is out of the question.
Is there any other renovation going on or scheduled at that time?

Thank You very much and best regards!!!

having just gotten back from CBR, I suggest looking for availability at POR. I wish I would have. They weren't supposed to be working on the building we were in, but i was woken at 9am by a ladder slamming up against the wall outside the room....they were painting the building. ***?
There is plenty of room at POR for April. I switched our hotel from CBR to POR because if I am going to spend all this money on a once in a lifetime trip I do not want to have construction going on all around me.

1. It depends on which entrance the bus driver decides to use. If they use the side entrance, then Jamaica is first. If they use the Main Entrance, then Martinique is first. No way to know for sure.
2. Actually Trinidad South will be the furthest point from the major construction that will be going on. They will be demolishing most of Barbados and some of Martinique. There will be some minor construction going on in Trinidad South but unless you have booked a Pirate Themed room there's no chance you will be put there.

@dansdad, so we are arriving on Feb 13. I put requests for either Martinique, Jamaica, or Aruba (standard room booked). Seems like I should call back and request Jamaica since this will be furthest from the demolition? I'm a bit worried now about what to expect in terms of de-construction. This is our first time staying Moderate and would like it to be a positive experience. Any insights you can offer would be appreciated!

The deconstruction isn't supposed to start until May/June so you should be good.

Hi @dansdad.
Thank you very much for your answer!!!
I didn't know there was going to be a major renovation at the CBR. We will stay there on March 10 - March 19 so we will miss it by a few months.

Do you think Aruba will be far enough away from the deconstruction? My travel agent is still insisting that there won't be any construction going on during my stay, May 23-31. She works for Dreams but I don't think she has read the info on the Disboards.

We arrive in 26 days and requested non-preferred Martinique and now I'm reading that is where construction will be. Is this expected to start soon? Should I switch requests to Aruba/Jamaica?

I requested non-preferred Martinique as well but I wasn't aware the construction was in that area. Is this confirmed?

ETA: Trip is in March.

It looks like it is. But maybe @dansdad can chime in for us.

Hmm...hopefully he can give some insight. I received an email from Disney weeks ago but it said that the only construction was going to be in Trinidad South.

I haven't stayed at CBR since I was a kid, and am starting to get cold feet. Would requesting Jamaica 45 be a reasonable request? How is the walk? We will have our 7 month old with us and wanted to be able to get to and from OPR easily but also have good luck with the bus route.

Jamaica 45 is a good request. We requested it but got Aruba 56, which is nowhere close.

And again, FWIW, I got the notification about the work being done in trinidad, but we were in aruba and they were working there as well. They constructed some kind of temporary structure in the parking lot right behind 53 and were also painting and doing significant landscaping work all around aruba and on the building we were in (which I think by then was 54? i don't remember.)

Aruba would be a very good request with Aruba 51 being ideal.

Permits have been filed, there will be construction going on this year. Whether or not it starts before you arrive is anyone's guess. Right now the tentative plan is to start May/June timeframe. And that may change. If it does, it will be pushed back, not up.

Yes it's confirmed. But you will not be affected in March.

Yup.

Jamaica 45 is an awesome request. It's a beautiful stroll across the bridge to OPR and the Main Feature pool, 4 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Until now I've been very relaxed about the possibility of construction during our stay, but now the panic on the last few pages has me reconsidering. Stop that! :scared1:

How long is construction thought to last? If we decide to take a trip in late September, would it still be ongoing?
