Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Reporting in that room 4461 in Jamaica has the pull down bed. And we agreed that after many trips to CBR, this room was the best room we've ever gotten as it had the pull down bed, it was a corner room, it was pretty close to the bridge, the bus stop and the parking lot (important if you are driving) and was also close to the quiet pool. We didn't want to leave!

I am sorting out my grocery order and came across a question. We are travelling with the DDP, and tend to have a whole lot of snack credits to use up at the end of the trip. I was thinking this year instead of buying room snacks we'd use the credits at the resort for them. However what options are there at the resort?

My first trip (lol 2007, whole other dining plan) we could get a large family size bag of chips for a snack credit. I believe that changed but since we didn't even look in those areas on our last trip (2014) I don't know. So family sized snacks at resort shop, an option for 1 or 2 credits or will we have to each use a credit to grab one small item? What options does Old Port royale have for evening snacks for the family?

The coffee is fine. They use Joffreys. It's not gourmet but it is a nice light/medium roast.

Thanks! We love our strong coffee in the morning. May need to send someone to Old Port Royal each morning with our mugs, haha. :drinking:

They have fresh fruit, muffins, cookies, bagels, chips, soda, and I believe popcorn as well.

On magical express leaving :(. Wahhhhhh so sad.....

My son did one last splash pad right at 9 am when it opened before leaving. Going to be sad when he grows another inch and can't go on! Last splash pad trip :(

Called bell services for our bags and they arrived in like 2 minutes! Rode in the van to customs house with the bags. Cbr was excellent.

Oh and even though we were in Trinidad north we would get off at Jamaica since it was the first stop coming back each time and then just walk across the bridge. It didn't take long at all and we had a stroller so my son didn't have to walk. A lot easier when he was asleep on the bus to get off the first stop and put him in the stroller and walk then ride around on the bus standing holding a sleeping kid!

Another thing - we also did the make your own Mickey tie dye shirts at the pool. Very cool. Came out awesome and can wear them on the next trip. Rinsed them in the bath tub (then wash in washer when get home). It was fun - Mickey ears came out nice!

They use the same brand so not sure it will be stronger.

It's a small single serve so you could run your 1st coffee over the pod again to strengthen it. Or since housekeeping will give you loads of them put you coffee ver a new pod for super strong.

I not a fan of really strong coffee and I liked the coffee so I'd say no. It was not as strong as Starbucks, more along the lines of supermarket brands.
Don't like Starbucks apart from the Christmas drinks, it may be strong but is bitter IMHO:confused3 I am a Nescafe girl at heart, but I do have 2 scoooped tespoons in a cup:rolleyes1

Ok so I could use 2 pods in the same cup? Is that what you mean?:thumbsup2

Yes two pods but you may have to run one then put that cup of coffee back in the reservoir to run it over the second pod. The pod holder is small and two pods at the same time might not allow it to drain quickly and overflow.

I don't drink coffee but my husband does and he didn't like it. Said it wasn't strong enough and tasted funny. Could be the tap water he used though...

Ok I'm confused now:confused: (doesn't take much):laughing: Bearing in mind I am an instant girl so don't usually use a coffee maker, also a Brit so not sure if they are different to ours, what do you mean by put the cup of coffee back in teh reservoir?

Oh yeah. We only use bottled water for coffee.
Oh I never thought of that, will have to remember to make sure we have some bottled water in or make a run to the food court for some filtered water:thumbsup2

so the coffee maker brews one cup of coffee at a time

there is a place to pour in one cupful of water

then a place to put a small coffee pod

the cup goes under the spout and you flip it on

water pours over the pod and coffee goes in cup

after wards take your cup of coffee and pour it back into the water area

put in a new pod and repeat the brew

double strength coffee

I take a large refillable bottle to the food court and get filtered water to keep in the room if I haven't made a grocery run.

I just found this thread a few days ago, and I read the first page with growing excitement. I tend to be a creature of habit, so all the trips to the World I've taken as an adult, I've only ever stayed at the POFQ. Now, because of this thread, I can see myself staying at this resort quite easily. I don't have any questions yet, but I'm sure one will pop into my head at some point and I'll know where to go. Thanks, everyone.

Woot woot! We were supposed to check in Thursday at ASMo for 2 nights before continuing on to AKL. A standard room popped up today at CBR AND we decided to drive up Wednesday morning LOL!!!! So excited since we really like CBR.

You will get answers on this board. Just waiting on your questions. :D

My opinion as well! StarBucks is quite bitter. Seem they take low end beans and way over roast them to compensate. The result is burned bitter aftertaste. I to like a few of their holiday coffees. Hoping Joffrey's is decent coffee.
