Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

We will be doing a split stay for our vacation. Plan on staying at Universal for 2 nights and then CBR for 6 nights. Since we will be trying to spend 2 full days at universal, I'm not sure what to do about check-in at CBR. Is it ok to check in that late at night after spending the day at US? Do I need to notify them? Or should I cut the day at Universal short in order to get checked in at CBR? Thank you!

Yup. We've checked in at 3AM before

Do I need to notify them?

I usually let them know if I'm arriving after Midnight, but you don't have to. As long as you arrive before 5:30AM, you'll be fine. The computer system doesn't roll over to the next day until 6AM.

I wouldn't.

Awesome! Thank you!

We booked a preferred room and got Martinique 25 ground floor. Really close to Old Port Royale (3 minute walk), and on a inside corridor, there is no noise.

The bus services are on and off. Need to allow time for the bus to tour the other bus stops before heading to the parks.
DH once waited more than 30 minutes for a bus to HS, and ended up late in arriving to see DD in Jedi. (really disappointing)
So, if you really need to be on time, allow more time for bus wait and travel. (like an hour, I mean)

Yup. It's recommended to be at the bus stop an hour before you need to be somewhere. And that's for any WDW resort. Thanks for checking in! Hope you have a Magical stay!

Thank you! I figured I would at least be packing marshmallows. I thought maybe they sold the stuff but didn't provide it for free.

You're welcome. If you want s'mores you'll need to bring, or buy in the gift shop, Hershey bars and Graham Crackers.

Making first trip to CBR and actually first stay at a disney resort. We are part of a sports travel package and have 15 rooms booked together. I am not sure which section we are in yet. Have any of you been as part of the International Salute to Baseball tournament??

Never as a member but have been there during the time. Disney does a good job of keeping the teams together, but it is up to the chaperones to keep the kids in line. Good Luck in the tourney.

No, but I have been there at the same time as loads of ball players. It was mid to late March if I recall?

Honestly, the kids were fine. Very polite and respectful whenever we came across a group of them. We were on the DME back to the airport with one team and guess who was being annoying and pranking everyone? The adults. :rolleyes1

Okay, due to some advice I recently received (I'm sure you know who you are, and thank you!) I have finally abandoned the idea of AoA and almost entirely jumped onto the Caribbean Beach's bandwagon. I love the total immersion and the movie rooms at AoA, but I kind of consider that resort a deluxe disguised as a value. Honestly, unless you go with Little Mermaid, the rooms are more expensive than the moderate resorts and while the extra room, kitchenette and bathroom are delightful features, I'm not in a situation that can allow me to spend that kind of dough.

So after changing my mindset and getting a lot of gratitude from my budget, I have been bouncing back and forth between CBR and POFQ. I'm sure we'd love both equally, but I am totally fishing for advice from more experienced parties. My husband loves the Caribbean theme and my daughter loves the look of the pool at CBR. I do know, however, that we cannot be guaranteed a murphy bed, and I also know trying to convince a 13-year-old girl to share a bed with her 5-year-old brother could be disastrous.

At POFQ we can be guaranteed the murphy bed (I'm sure for an upcharge, but still), and I love the water taxis, fun atmosphere, the decor and those videos of people with beignets have made me green with envy! However I believe the rooms are smaller there, and the pool wasn't as attractive to my daughter.

So what say you, Disboards community? Do you even notice the smaller room, especially when you haven't stayed on site in 14 years
? Are your chances of getting a murphy bed pretty good at CBR over Halloween? I was convinced to go this route when the benefits of these two resorts were highlighted to me, but choosing between the two has been agony!

Thanks in advance for any help offered!

There are zero rooms with a Murphy Bed at POFQ. All the rooms in the Aligator Bayou section at POR have Murphy Beds. And the only way to guarantee you'll be in the Aligator Bayou section is to book a preferred room.

After having stayed at both POR and CBR we much prefer CBR. The pool is much better, the food court and the overall vibe is a step up. If you're worried about not getting a room with a Murphy Bed bring an air mattress. We did that for 4 trips before they had the Murphy Beds and it worked perfectly. And much, much cheaper than paying for a Preferred room at POR.

Dansdad to the rescue again! Thanks so much.

Ooookay, that makes a big difference. I don't know why I thought that the murphy beds were at POFQ... See, this is what I need you guys for! My husband I actually stayed at Riverside, but back then it was called Dixie something..? It was 2001, so a long time ago. But since this will only be our 2nd time staying on property, I'd want a different experience in a new place. The air mattress is a good idea, too, but I am going to hope for that murphy bed because it's bloody adorable. I'm pretty sure I'm entirely on board the CBR's wagon at this point.

And to think all this time you've been helping a Flyers fan! See how Disney brings people together? :D

2 questions:

1) sounds weird, ha ha, but what is the TV lineup in the CBR rooms? I have a 2 & 4 year old and I'm planning some room time to relax & for naps, guess I want to know if they have enough channels for their age that'll entertain them for a bit.

2) also, how long does it take to get back to CBR from Epcot in the late afternoon around 3 or 4 pm.

Thanks! :)

The time to Disney Springs doesn't surprise me. I don't care where I have stayed on property - value to deluxe to DVC - it has always taken about that long.

Honestly, we don't go to Disney springs if we're not staying at POR or POFQ and can uses the boats. We've never had good bus service to or from DTD and we just don't like it that much.

I thought Touring plans only allowed you to request ONE room? You were able to add all those requests (corner, second floor, water view) AND 3 specific rooms and a birthday celebration to the Touring Plans fax??
Have people had luck using this fax service? Do you think the TP fax has more of a chance of being granted than just faxing the resort myself? And how many days out should we fax?

We used the TP fax service last year for POFQ and got the exact room we asked for. Hoping that we'll have good luck on our next trip.
