Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. This is our first Disney trip, so def a newbie here. So I should call back? I mentioned I wanted to be close to OPR. She said did you book preferred, I said it wasn't available, but from what I understand there are buildings that are "standard" that are close. Then she told me to call back the 10 days before. So I guess I'll call again!

Yup, definitely call back. Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 are a short stroll across the bridge to OPR and the Main Feature Pool. And the walk is beautiful especially in the morning when the sun is coming up over OPR.

Especially if you are up real early and see the dew over the lake...and the lake is like a sheet of glass.

We were lucky enough to get building 26, literally right down the stairs, and right into OPR. We said we'd never book standard again. But now reading all of the comments, I feel like we missed out on the beauty of the resort. I don't think I saw the lake more than once, because our room was right by the back entrance to OPR. Also, looking at the jump for preferred from standard for 10 nights this fall is literally a $660 difference!! You all have just convinced me to book standard.

Excellent choice! Even when we're in Jamaica 45 we sometimes walk around the lake to get to OPR. We have never thought it was worth the extra $$ for preferred at any WDW resort. Unless in a Pirate Themed room the longest walk you could possibly have is around 7-8 minutes.

How long is the walk from Trinidad south? We booked a standard and requested Jamaica, but w two boys (11 and 7), if we were "upgraded" to pirate they would think its cool. Not sure I would though.

At a leisurely pace, about 9 minutes from the closest point of Trinidad South and about 11 from the furthest.

Just checked out of CBR yesterday and think I may have left my glasses in the room...i'm getting transferred all around and been on hold with Lost & Found for 8 min....is there any other way of finding out if they were found?

We've always had great success emailing Guest Services. wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

They've been able to track down and return 2 stuffed animals, 1 Chromebook and 1 watch.

So I have two breakfast reservations during my trip next week! One at Chef Mickey's and one at Kona Cafe. Do you guys think the best way to get over there is bus to Magic Kingdom then take the monorail to the resort?

Thoughts? Thanks!

Depends on your definition of best.

If best = free then Yes.

If best = quickest and easiest then I would say a taxi or Uber.

That's awesome! Sounds like the price of an uber will be well worth the extra 30 min of sleep! Thank you

J

:thumbsup2

Whenever we have a breakfast ADR at another resort, we always cab/Uber. We enjoy WDW transportation, but to go from one resort to another you have to use 2 modes of WDW transportation.

As long as your taxi driver doesn't get lost going to the MK when you have an ADR for breakfast at BoG restaurant before rope drop. What should have been a 12-15 minute drive turned into a 35 minute fiasco when our "driver" got lost and then kicked us out at the Transportation Center and told us to "take the monorail."

That sucks he got lost, but when going to MK taxis and Uber drivers HAVE to take you to the TTC. They are not allowed to drop you off at the MK gates. Next time get dropped off at Contemporary and walk over to MK.
