Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Are the pirate rooms/being in Trinidad terrible? My brother's family and mine are both staying at CBR, but he booked preferred in Barbados/Martinique and I booked the cheaper pirate room because I'm cheaper, ha. But I don't want to totally compromise the experience by saving a marginal amount.
As PP said, the pirate room location is the worst part. The rooms in Trinidad are across a road in a somewhat isolated location of the resort, which is exactly why they were themed as pirate rooms - because people will then choose to stay in their "worst" location for the theme. Its not terrible when Spyglass Grill is open, but with it being closed, you'll have a long walk to OPR for any food or drinks. Its also worth noting that the beds are two double beds (other rooms have two queens), and I have heard the beds are uncomfortable as there are no box springs. Just the mattress on the customized pirate bed frame. The section does have its own bus stop, and its a fairly quick walk to the Skyliner.

If you decide to keep the pirate room, it might be good for your brother to request Barbados for his preferred room. It will make for a much shorter walk between each other's rooms.

This is super helpful, thank you!

A couple questions for anyone that is either there now or has stayed very recently:
1. How is the wifi at CBR? Trying to decide if I should use data or wifi when trying to get a boarding pass for ROTR.
2. What time has the skyliner been opening? Trying to decide if it would be better to drive and park at Hollywood Studios (we have handicap parking) or take Skyliner in the AM for rope drop. I know they have been letting people in the park about 45-60 mins prior to actual opening.

Thank you for any help.

The consensus is to always use data and turn off wifi when trying to get a boarding pass. But in our room at CBR, my cell service with Verizon was so-so. If you're not getting good cell service, maybe try from the sidewalk or somewhere more open at the resort.

We were there in late October and rode the Skyliner to DHS at opening twice. The first time, the Skyliner opened around 8:55. Posted park opening was 10am. We arrived at DHS around 9:25 and the gates were open. On the second time, the Skyliner opened around 8:45. Posted park opening was 10am. We arrived at DHS around 9:10 and the gates opened maybe 5-7 minutes after that. Both times, we arrived at the Skyliner station around 8:10am. We were good with the timing of everything and how it worked out for us. If you wanted to ensure you arrived at DHS earlier, I would suggest getting to the Skyliner by 7:45am.

Be aware though that they do put people arriving from Pop/AOA into the DHS line on the Skyliner platform until that queue fills, and then they start sending people to the back of the CBR queue. You won't be first on the gondolas because of that, but IMO, its not a significant enough delay to take alternate transportation. IMO, if you drive, you'll be stuck in that traffic and then have to make your way to the end of the temp check line, which is adjacent to the Skyliner exit. You'd also have to leave your room at the same time, if not earlier, to try and line up at the parking gate. When the line reaches the road, they don't allow people to wait to keep the flow of traffic.

Could you explain this a little more...we're staying at CBR in March and part of the reason we chose CBR, as opposed to Pop was for the direct access to DHS and Epcot via skyliner, but I'm a bit confused as to what you're saying about the line. If we get in line at say, 7:45, before any gondolas are running; wouldn't the only people in front of us to get onto a DHS gondola be the other CBR who lined up before 7:45? Wouldn't the queues on the platform already be filled before Pop/AoA ppl. got to the gondola station? Or are you saying that they hold the CBR line before the platform and then wait for the first Pop ppl. etc. to get off at the transfer station and put them on the first gondolas to DHS of the day and then open the line up to CBR folks? Sorry for the confusion and I know everyone will say either way it's not a big deal, but I'm curious...thanks!

The bolded, kind of. The gates to the Skyliner platform (next to the Joffrey's stand) are closed when people begin lining up for the Skyliner in the mornings. Around 8:15-8:20 (in my experience), CMs open these gates and the CBR line progresses to the ramps of the Skyliner station. From there and from what I could see, they allowed a couple of CBR parties into the central queue area that was being utilized for the DHS line on the actual Skyliner platform. Around the same time, gondolas from Pop/AOA began arriving at the CBR station. The CM was directing the parties exiting the gondolas to fill in the central queue area on the platform. If there was a gap in the flow of people from AOA/Pop, the CM would direct a group from the CBR line to fill in the queue. So (for example), the queue might have been 4-5 parties from CBR, 4-5 parties from AOA/Pop, 2 parties from CBR, 3 parties from AOA/Pop, etc. When the queue filled on the platform, the CBR line was held and those exiting Pop/AOA gondolas were directed down the ramp to the end of the CBR line. Once the DHS gondolas began moving (my two experiences were 8:45 and 8:55ish), the line in the central queue area also began moving opening up more space. When that happened, the CM would only pull from the CBR line to fill in that space while continuing to direct AOA/Pop groups to the end of the line.

I can't confirm if this is how it operates all the time - I experienced this twice in October. But the process made sense to me because it allowed those at the beginning of the CBR line to be among the first to board the DHS gondolas, but also allowed those at the beginning of the AOA/Pop line to be among the first to board the DHS gondolas as well. So, the people also waiting at 7:30 at AOA/Pop weren't penalized and sent to the back of the line behind people who had just walked up at CBR at 8:45. Hopefully that makes sense!

Does anyone know if the laundry facilities are open during this Covid? I just want to make sure I’ll be able to do laundry while at CBR in a few weeks. Thank you!

They are essentially mixing Pop/AOA and CBR parties in the "main" queue for the DHS line at opening, I presume to make it fair for those arriving from Pop/AOA that were at the front of the line so obviously waiting a while. I didn't notice it but they probably do the same for Riviera guests. The "overflow" queue extends down the ramp of the Skyliner station, so once the main queue is full, they have no choice but to send everyone to the end of the overflow line. It doesn't really have a big overall effect on wait times, but its a consideration for people to gauge what time they want to get to the Skyliner line.
