Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

In 2015 we stayed at POR and they dropped us off in the numbered slot but I have heard people say they drop you at the front. Maybe it depends on time of day? We would go in the early AM for RD.

It could be based on congestion...I could see at busy times for drop off they would have a backlog at the front. But in three trips (including once at POR in 2010) we have never been dropped off at the pickup spot...but we never travel during peak times of year...Dec prior to Christmas madness.

Hello!
We'll be in CBR in about a month and I have a question.
I see sometimes they offer an upgrade to Pirates room.
I wonder, if ever, that is being offered to us, should we take it?
We're there for 2 weeks, have 1 daughter who is 2.5 yrs old and we want to be close to the transportation and hopefully the main pool (I know pirates rooms are far from the main pool).
What are your thought?

Thanks!
Don't do it.

The buses change at MK. The CBR bus may become the POR bus. Have never had the CBR bus stay the CBR bus.

I am staying at CBR for 2 nights next week with my DS. Because we got the cast member discount, we took what was listed, which was a pirate room. I want to prepare myself as my DS says that bus stop is very crowded. Is that true and how early should I leave to get the parks and Disney Springs?

Rooms are the exact same size. Beds are doubles in the Pirate Themed Rooms and queens or kings everywhere else.

I see. So I guess the pirate rooms are not renovated. I will just stick to the regular rooms.

I switched from POFQ to CBR because its saving me a little over 600 dollars. standard room. which building should I ask for to be close to the main building and arcade. hoping I'm not making a mistake

Has anyone stayed at the pirate rooms recently? We just found out we're going for a quick trip Dec 12-15.it will be 20 yo dd, 13 yo dd & myself We were told we have a pirate room. At first I was excited because it's so unique. But Seems like there's a lot of negative feedback on these rooms. I'm thinking I'm in Disney how bad can it be, but I'm getting concerned. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Some people love the theming of the rooms - they look really cute! But they are furthest from the main building and pool, and have full sized beds, rather than queens.

But as long as you go into it knowing what to expect, I think you will be fine! It is Disney after all!

Joining in this thread - we just changed our resort to CBR for a January 7-13 trip we have booked....71 days!!! :) Love this thread - very informative! Thanks so much for those responsible for putting it together.

A couple of questions as I've never stayed at CBR:

We are driving, not flying, and will probably arrive sometime between 4-5pm. If we get a text notification of our room location and we do online check-in, is there any need to stop by the custom house, or can we go directly to our room?

Are the coffee makers in the rooms standard coffee makers or keurig-type coffee makers that require k-cups or pods?

Thanks so much!
I agree with the other post that the coffee is not bad. That being said, I hate powdered creamer, so we always take a box of Mini-Moos with us! We fly Southwest, which allows us two bags each...we pack a small gym bag with a couple of 8 packs of Gatorade, Mini-Moos, a sleeve of bagels and individual cups of peanut butter. Bagels with peanut butter for breakfast saves us some money and/or dining credits. Gatorade during our mid-day siesta or at night after returning from the parks helps rehydrate.

We use Magical Express, so I drop my wife off curbside at the airport and she checks the bags with a skycap while I park, or vice/versa. No hassle from having an extra bag, and it's good for dirty laundry or wet swimsuits on the way home.

In our experience the Trinidad South bus stop is actually the least crowded. We have never missed an ADR or Rope Drop ceremony by being at the bus stop 60 minutes before we want to be somewhere.

In this family's opinion you made an excellent choice! Ever since our first stay at CBR, we haven't been able to stay anywhere else. We were fans of POR and POFQ until staying at CBR. Now we choose CBR over them every time. And to save $$ too, that's just the icing on the cake.

The following locations are all 3-4 minutes from OPR and the Main Feature pool.

Martinique 21, 22, 23
Aruba 51
Jamaica 45

Some of you might remember me...but I am down to 32 days until my quick "surprise / proposal" trip for my girlfriend. She has no idea about the upcoming vacation. We are heading down Thursday - Sunday and will be staying 2 nights at CBR. I am finalizing reservations and plans, and I am now down to room requests. I am going to send a fax 5 days prior, but I am looking for help on requests. I don't necessarily need specific room numbers, but I am trying to think about what would be best for my girlfriend. Our room type is "king bed". Any help on recommendations on what to request? Thanks!

I think a lot depends on where that bus is being deployed when you get off. If it is going back to CBR then you'll probably be at the CBR "stall" (I was under the impression that those *can* change periodically so it's always better to double check the sign), but if it is being deployed elsewhere (or going on a break) then you will be pulling into that "stall".

Officially changed back to CBR for my August pre-cruise night!! I'd been at AKL but just couldn't shake the feeling of wanting to be at my Disney home!! :)

I have Jamaica 4249, 4252, 4253, 4257, or 4260 down for my Touring Plans request fax. Those are King Bed rooms that are upper floor, corner (so two windows), and water view. :)

We stayed in a pirate room in September, and I thought they were the coolest themed rooms we've ever stayed in on Disney property! However, we did have a car, so drove to the food court and the main pool - as well as the parks - so the distance didn't bother us at all. And my kids LOVED the decor!!! I wouldn't hesitate to stay in one again!

Since a King Bed category can be in any village except Trinidad South, I would request either Martinique or Trinidad North to be closer to Old Port Royale/Centertown (food court, bar, main pool, gift shop).

Be careful relying on Touring Plans for room selection. It is not accurate. We just returned from a stay at CBR in Jamaica 4315. TP lists this room as King. It has 2 queens which is what we needed.
