My family and I will be staying at CBR for just one night in August. We arrive quite late and plan to enjoy the pool the next day before heading to the Contemporary. Would it be wise to request a certain building to make entry and exit with my luggage easier? Thanks in advance.
Don't believe one day will make a difference. You can always request a resort nearest to the, like Barbados, but there is an internal shuttle.

Just left after an 8 night stay at CBR
The good
Convenient location
Cute sliding bathroom doors
Nice themed pool
The bad
Crowded tiny pool! While cute themed I got grossed out very quickly by the lack of personal space
Our room was not vacuumed the entire week

The ugly
When I got the "your room is ready" text I hopped over used my magic band to enter my room. Is that a towel animal on my bed?
Nope
It's a maintenance guy sitting on my bed watching tv.
Um excuse me..... He said something about waiting for a carpet to dry and left.
That started me off thinking we are definitely not deluxe anymore

So would I stay here again? If the price was right I would but it's not a top pick for us. We did stay value last time AOA. And that was pretty equal in "quality" IMHO

Typing this as we drive home. Would I rather be there right now? You bet!

A long time ago (way back when FD included 2 TS) when we stayed at CB a man in uniform, not a maid one, came out of our room. We had just left and returned to get something, before I can even ask him what he was doing their he approached me and said he was making sure our room was clean. I was so happy to be their, have free dining and I was pretty naive I never questioned it. When I got home I realized this was wrong and creepy especially since it was just me and my 2 young DD's at the time. I just kept thinking how did he know that was "MY" room.

From now if I ever see anyone in my hotel room besides the maid with the cleaning utensils I will ask for another room. I had te creeps for awhile when I got home.

When you get home, I would suggest that you email Walt Disney World and let them know what happened. It's not cool for the guy to be sitting there on your bed watching television. I am sure that the situation was as innocent as he said but there should be a way to let guests know that their room is being worked/cleaned, etc.

Just received an email from Touring Plans and the following was posted about the pirate rooms:

The Pirate Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort are being re-imagined in Trinidad South. The rooms will now include details collected from Captains Jack Sparrow’s adventures including Aztec coins, sword handles, a Jolly Roger, custom lanterns, pirate map-themed carpets and the vanity that is themed to look like a captain’s desk.

I am a DVC member and i will NOT have the maid come in my room daily. I love the fact that when staying at the DVC, we do not have daily housekeeping. I simply put DO NOT DISTURB sign on my door all day when staying at NON DVC resorts. . I don't like strange people coming in my room, even though they have a job to do, but heard some can be sneaky and nosy as well and when i know they def. coming in, i prepared my room in such a way, they can't be sneaky!

Just got back from a 5 night stay at CBR. This was our first time here after staying twice at POFQ. We did the online check-in and requested corner room, upper floor and got both. I have a subscription to Touring Plans, but did not use their faxing service. This trip we decided to drive down and around 11:30 on the morning we were arriving I got the text message that our room was ready: Trinidad North, Building 31, Room 3161. It's a corner room on the 2nd floor facing the courtyard with a slight view of the lake. The stairs were close and we were able to park our van in the first spot underneath the big oak tree in the shade, so it was easy getting to our luggage and the cooler we brought.

The room was great, bigger than POFQ and it had the Murphy bed.

We really enjoyed it overall. Wife loved the room and the resort. I liked it, but prefer the size and feel of POFQ. Fewer bus stops, boat option to DTD/DS, smaller. Just my opinion. I'd stay at CBR again for sure.
Wonderful! This is our first CBR stay and I'm pleased to hear the review. We last stayed at POR Riverside and had a King Room WITH a murphy bed. Since it was just the two of us adults the murphy bed did NOT get used but my 6' dh checked it out and he fit!

We just returned from a week stay (6/20-6/27). First stay at CBR and LOVED IT. Would definitely return. We did the TP fax and requested a top floor Martinique room. We reserved a preferred room which I do recommend.

We thought the bus system was quite efficient and typically didn't wait for a bus more than 10 minutes. That was a pleasant surprise. The internal stops didn't bother us as they are very quick. We did have one bad experience with a HS bus taking almost an hour one morning (and we missed rope drop). That seemed to be an anomoly though. The buses were also quick to pick us up at parks as well. The resort is gorgeous. We cant wait to return! Let me know if you have any questions!
A little worried about DHS bus.....we are thinking about doing a quick visit to DHS on our last day (plane doesn't take off until 5:30pm)......may be we should just stay at the resort and relax our last day?

If you get a text message saying your room is ready then no, you can go straight to your room.
This is our first time with Magic Bands......if we do on line check in and get a text that our room is ready, we skip Custom House and go right to the room, using our MB to enter? I'm still on the fence regarding on line check in.......especially since this is our first visit to CBR. Also, we paid for a KING room. Does this automatically enable us to have a prefered view room?

Hello CBR peeps! :D

2) We can't swing preferred so I imagine the food court will be extremely out of the way. We are used to relying heavily on the refillable mugs at the Values. Do people find they don't bother with the mugs much at CBR? If you don't use them, do you stock drinks in your room? And if you do, where do you get them (resort shop, shipping in, grocery store?)

Thanks!! And looking forward to our first stay!
I can't speak of CBR but when we stayed at POR we used our mugs every morning and sometimes at night. We actually bought coffee pods AND a case of water from Walmart and had them delivered to our resort before our stay. It was pretty cheap if I remember correctly. I brought my own creamer and a few snacks too.

I wouldn't let the one bad experience that @threeboyzdad had with one DHS bus deter your plans. DHS is our arrival day park every trip now. It's such a short bus ride from CBR and we've always had quick service there.

Yup.

No. There are King rooms in every building except the Pirate Themed rooms. So you could be in a non-preferred location.

Same here. I keep the do not disturb out our entire trip, and just call to switch out towels, etc when needed. Don't want anyone in my room either. We can keep our room clean just fine since we only use it to sleep and shower.

We stayed in Martinique 2359 and had Murphy bed.
Walk to PR was lovely every morning to get coffee for my mug (while rest of lollygaggers slept)image.jpgimage.jpgthis was also lovely with this view:image.jpgby quiet pool

It probably doesn't help me get out of vacation planning mode when the walk to PR pic is my lock screen on my phone....

Hoping for Christmas DCL cruise in 2017...

And I should be packing for trip to Chicago tomorrow but it's just not as exciting as packing for Disney!

Excited for our first stay at CBR in September! Usually stay at POR but wanted to try something new. I have a question about the bus stops - do they have the screens that show which park busses are en route and the expected arrival time? That was such a great bonus at POR - loved it!

No, they do not.

I just asked our TA to add the room requests to our reservation when making our next payment of 1st floor and near the food court (we have littles so both are convenience requests). Is that specific enough or should I ask for building numbers etc.?

By describing what you want you've actually upped your chances of getting your requests granted. There's more than one building that'll work for your requests.

New to CBR typically stay POR
Arrival day we do dinner at resort - love Boatwrights!!!
Tell me about Shutters
Anyone do both? Give me some comparisons

Thanks in advance

If you would have asked this a couple years ago I would have said Boatwrights is much better. But since the new Head Chef at Shutters, we feel it has edged out Boatwrights. The service has really improved along with the quality of the food and the presentation. We have enjoyed everything we have tried so far.

We were huge POR fans until having to switch to CBR for Free Dining years ago and we haven't been able to go back to POR since. I think you've made an excellent choice!
