Does anyone bring extra blankets? I get cold easily and it looks like only sheets are provided.

I would have booked a first floor room if I could. I have always just requested it and never a problem. Plus, I called, faxed, on line check in and called again. It's getting almost too much for her to get up the steps, especially after a long day at the park. We are mid way at our trip and I'm actually going to try and switch resorts today

We checked in on the 14. Called, faxed and called again. Not one request filled. Have a mother with mobility issues. They still put us on the second floor. I spoke to 2 different people and was told that NOTHING would be available our entire 11 day trip!! ridiculous!!! No way that is possible. We have been struggling with the stairs our first 4 days here so far. We are in Martinique building 23. Not a refurb. Not close to OPR. Needless to say, not spending any money there. On the bright side, we are close to a bus stop. The room is clean and we had to call housekeeping for a new hair dryer because ours was "on fire" the first day. Yes... Literally flames and smoking. They brought a new one immediately. We also needed blankets and they brought those quickly, as well. We do tip mouse keeping daily, but no special towel animals or anything cute in the room. My sister's room has had cute things done each day. And no.... She isn't tipping any more.. Lol.
Buses have been fair. Very full. Standing room only most days. My sister waited over an hour last night coming home from magic kingdom. Our wait from downtown disney was 40 minutes. Magic kingdom and HS quite busy. AK wasn't bad today. Raining though

I also had problems with room location due to smokers not smoking at the DS, etc. This seems to be the norm for this resort and we will not stay there again. Going back to the Deluxe resorts. Contact WDW and tell them your experience. They do appreciate feedback.

It seems to be a problem in many resorts with exterior entrances to rooms, even at POR and POFQ and the values...thing is many smokers seem to think as long as they are "outside" they should be or are allowed to smoke...which isn't the case. Maybe they live in states or countries with more relaxed rules and it is their habit...not sure...but your idea of going back to Deluxe is probably a good way to avoid them being close to your room...though in other outdoor common areas, you will still find them.

For those that are upset at the smokers, I'm wondering if you've said anything to management/security or whatever. It's one thing to complain after you've left, but I'm not one to shy away from calling the staff to complain while I'm there. Was anything done if you called the front desk/concierge?

Yes, as I stated in a post a few pages back....we called to get our room changed, but, only rooms were near other smoking areas. They were very nice when I called. We also explained that smoke was coming through the door due to gaps. We even asked a person that was on the second floor near our room to please use the DS..he refused. As we were leaving a security person was checking out the area.

We wrote an email and was called for our feedback.

Florida is very anti-smoking and if some smokers continue to ignore the rules it will ruin it for others that do. Smoking is not a habit....it's an addiction.

I missed that part in your post. Glad you said something while you were there. I don't care if people smoke... In designated areas. But if it comes into my room because you can't walk to the DS area and my children and I are breathing it in, not cool.

Hotels here can charge a surcharge on rooms if the housecleaning detects someone was smoking in the room (hanging out the window etc). Maybe there needs to be some kind of deterrent. Or there is an I don't know about it. ;).

1. Quick service dining poor. I don't care for how it is set up. Difficult if one child wants a burger and one wants pizza, have to wait in 2 seperate very long lines. Wasn't impressed with the quality of food

I've stayed at POP & POR before. Aren't the food courts the same in both of those places too? I always feel like DH and I have to split up and stand in multiple lines for each of us and then each of the kids. Is this worse/different?

2. Too many bus stops, not enough busses. Wait too long, then had 2 scooters on our bus. Squeezed us onto the bus, couldn't even breath

I had that same issue at POR. The bus would be completely full and yet we would stop at every internal stop to try to let more people on. I prefer the values in that area because there's just one bus stop with a queue.

See, I HATE that looking at the map, the nice courtyards of almost every building is the smoking area...granted we won't spend a lot of time away from the parks, but if the weather was nice, and it was one of our early evenings, it would be nice to sit in the courtyard enjoying some wine, just relaxing...but as those locations are the smoking spot, it would not be enjoyable.

I personally think the smoking places should be near the parking lots, and unappealing...but then I am an ex-smoker, and we are the most annoying when it comes to being anti-smoking :)

Yes, there is se separation at the POR food court, but not quite as separated. I felt like I could still my kids and easily move from one area to the other. I also did not experience issues with the busing at POR. They only allowed one scooter at a time. Called for a second bus if too crowded. Maybe we just got lucky on our previous trips there.

we was in Aruba from the 3rd to the 17th, great location, newly done room first floor, well happy!! it was above the court yard but never had a problem with smoke from smokers any where at the resort,

yes the buses where busy but looking at other resort buses when leaving the parks they were just as busy, the staff where helpful and polite, room was cleaned well and only had to ask for extra towels once, only 2 mickey towel heads thou.

only thing i was sure on was the food court, dont know if they will redo it with the refub or leave it but i didnt like the set out i preferred AoA resorts counter service as you choose what you want and then they make it for you, not bad for a value resort.

the resort is so pretty we loved it, i do have pics but not sure of the quality of them yet lol

ask any questions and il try and answer them

MBUSKA, i have sent you a PM, i hope you can access it as i've detailed a few things you can try to resolve your situation!

Martinique 23 too far from OPR...we were in 25 and only 5 mins away from OPR? Martinique is a preferred building isn't it?

24, 25 and 26 are preferred. We were in the furthest Martinique building trip before last and our walk to OPR was about 6 minutes.

I've already put Emma right on the preferred status, Lisa. It took literally 3 minutes to walk to OPR from our room (especially after we discovered it was quicker to turn right when we came out of our room instead of turning left and going the long way round past the laundry!

Reading some of these earlier posts about position of rooms - especially floors - I hope to God that they do honour my requests for a first floor room as we'll be in trouble otherwise - I do need to run the ECV into the room!!

We're going the week before the Easter break so I'm hoping that we can get a good room (as far as I'm concerned) before the resort fills up: I'm sure it'll be full the second week we're there. I've also specifically requested a room without an interconnecting door or murphy bed, as again I need the room to park the ECV. Last time I booked directly with Disney so was allowed to ring them up with my requests; I had a nice little chat about where I'd like us to be - I said I wasn't bothered about a water view: I just didn't want to be near a smoking area (due to our asthma) or facing the car parks! All my requests were fulfilled - but the hotel was really quiet the week we were there this year. We had a lovely courtyard view - and it was the only courtyard without even a bench in it so people couldn't sit in it and smoke - or anything else, for that matter.

... and let me tell you, I will NOT tolerate someone smoking outside my room. I am hyper sensitive to cigarette smoke and if I catch even a whiff of it, I WILL be on the phone to complain!!

I like the look of the courtyards, too. My DH comments on how Disney gives the smokers the nicest locations.

Good morning! I am coming back to update the beach bum roll call but wanted to fill ya'll in on a recent CBR development.

A friend of mine is on a travel agent related trip to WDW right now and she just posted that the rooms for five should be available for booking in March. :cool1:

Good to know! I was wondering when we would here something. I won't start stalking the Website until January then. ; )

Oh, and while I'm here, I'd like to officially get added to the beach bum role call. : ) Even if I can't officially book yet.
November 14th -22nd 2015

I would like to do our role call for the beach bums :goodvibes DD13, DD11, and I will be there from 1/23-1/30 (first girls trip). This is our first time staying at CBR and we couldn't be more excited. I am crossing my fingers that we can use the pool, but with it being the end of January, it may be a far fetch.

I want to jump on the bandwagon and thank Mickeystoontown for the awesome thread (I know I am a little delinquent) as well as all of her predecessors. I can only imagine how much work goes into the maintenance of a thread - So thank you for this! I would also like to be added to the roll call - we are headed back to CBR and Disney on October 1 - October 11! So excited to be going back to CBR and seeing the new rooms.
