Hi fellow Disney-ers! Been going to the Boardwalk as a DVC member for 20 years or so. What in the heck has happened to the BW. It has become the Disney no fun zone. First ESPNzone, gone, Big River Brew, gone, next up, Jelly Rolls, gone. No bars remain on the BW except the dud in Abracadabra. The BW should be renamed, the ZZZZZZZ-walk! Look forward to your comments.

ESPNzone was not a Disney decision. Big River Grill went bankrupt. Jelly Rolls was a third-party group that just vacated the BW to an off-site location. Disney as the rumors go is going to open a new Disney owned Jazz club to replace Jelly Rolls.

Hopefully they’ll put in some good replacements. I think I’ve read Jellyrolls will be replaced by a jazz club but still no news about what might go into the still vacant Big River Grille.

I agree and replacing an upbeat and lively venue like Jellyrolls with a jazz club just adds to the ZZZZZZZZZZZ's for me. Count me out on Abracabar too. Very dull and boring bar. I realize the closures weren't all on Disney but they need to pick up the offerings on the BW or people are just going to stop going there.

Funny, I guess it's all in the perspective...my husband and I fell absolutely in love w BWV this spring after 5 yrs of staying all across various DVC resorts ... mostly because its easy, laid back, "in bed early" vibe is perfect for us vacationing away from our "real life" just outside NYC. 😊😆😆
Agreed and still close enough to DS if more “liveliness” is wanted.
Never understood the love for Big Grill or ESPN.

The Boardwalk used to be a fun place to visit. There were puppet shows, one-man-band, face painting and hair braiding, you could rent a surry bike to ride around the lake, get snacks and drinks (corn dogs, margaritas, popcorn, cotton candy), etc. Jellyrolls, Dance Hall, ESPN club (Sports bar!), Big River Grill (decent food, easy to get into, nice to eat outdoors), Spoodles were all great places to visit/eat. Now? Not so much. Mediocre food at Trattoria al Forno, stupidly overpriced cake and bevs at CakeBake. Is there still a pizza window? We like AbracadabBar but we are looking for the laid-back, 1930-40s vibe, when it was all about mixed drinks and sultry atmospheres. These days, the Boardwalk is just meh. I mean... we love the Inn/Villas, but there isn't a whole lot else anymore to make us recommend a trip over there for the evening.

I get it but,,,you did not get to experience ESPN or the others. It was still mellow but there were options for a brew or 2. Especially if ya wanted to see some sports!

There is still a pizza window, and we found it surprisingly good given NYers are by definition pizza snobs. 😆 They also still have (or now have again) Blue Ribbon corn dogs and a margarita stand which was hoppin every day of our visit. They did do activities on the BW on weekend nights as well, including a magic show and a weirdly loud and intense jump rope demo. 🤷‍♀️ Screen Door General Store is open again as well.

First stay coming in October and can't wait! I watch a lot of live streams there, very recently, and it's still fantastic for people watching - still crowded, still live acts. We liked Abracadabar! We ate at Big River Grille once, kind of reminded me of a TGI Fridays or something, won't miss it. But they do need to do something down on that end...

Staying on the Inn side.

Oh and the pizza window used to sell whole pizzas, but now they don’t :(

We never visited the BW until we stayed there a few years ago so we don't know what it used to be like. We love it now, I guess because we don't know any better.

Many say they loved Big River Grille, but not enough people went there to keep it open. That’s why it was so easy to do walk up, unfortunately.
