Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

People in the Cake Bake Shop thread have said that the book Birnbaum's Walt Disney World: The Official Vacation Guide has a coupon in the back for Cake Bake Shop. Supposedly you can use it in the bakery section as well as the restaurant. I can't remember what the discount is on the coupon, but you can ask in that thread. Th
Thanks! Someone on that thread had photographed the Birnbaum's book coupon pages. Cake Bake Shop coupon is 20%, so you'd need to spend $55 to break even on the book purchase. Not difficult. 2 pieces of cake and a magic bar. Coupon would definitely come in handy if dining at the restaurant.

Does the outside section ever have seating or is it usually filled? Looking forward to relaxing with some wine out there during our stay in Oct/Nov!
We've been there in Sept and Oct and never had a problem getting an outside seat. While it is nice to sit outside, weather permitting, you really can't see much over the railings unless you stand. We prefer the atmosphere and ambiance inside the Belle Vue.

Yep, I used mine when we were there. I believe it was only allowed at the restaurant, not the bakery side. Our waiter was confused and said he didn’t even know they had coupons! Glad I had the coupon as I felt it was one of our worst meals, so at least felt better about not paying full price.

Good to know! I was iffy about dining there, but now I won't bother. I'm a big baker and curious to see if the cake is *that good*. I'll just grab a slice from the bakery to share with my daughter.

Our breakfast was really good. I’ve eaten lunch at the one in Carmel and wasn’t impressed, so I was surprised the breakfast was so tasty. We were not impressed with the cakes, which tracks with my Indiana experience. The buttercream frosting had a weird overly creamy texture to it - way beyond the creaminess of an Italian meringue buttercream. It was very off putting to us. The flavors were also very subtle, which was highly disappointing. We had the gluten-free mint and the raspberry champagne one. The positive was that both cakes were super-moist, which isn’t always easy to do with chocolate cake.

That is a common complaint from many guests at CBS. They use European Buttercream, Italian or Swiss meringue buttercream is generally less sweet (no powered sugar) than American buttercream and, silky smooth.

Our American buttercream has an intense sweetness and dense texture due to its heavy use of powdered sugar.

I loved the raspberry champagne cake and the icing.
