Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I have a room overlooking the corn dog stand and have been monitoring the situation closely. While the stand itself still has closed windows and curtains, my wife just spotted prepared corn dogs coming out of the stand and being consumed by a handful of folks. Looks like maybe a cast member or influencer preview is going on. I’ve also spotted a suit nearby and a couple workers(?) are still inspecting things with the stand itself.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Confirmed a SURPRISE Opening in Disney World!

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is officially open! This snack stand replaced the former BoardWalk To-Go stand and serves a variety of different corn dogs.

It’s open!
The new corn dog stand quietly did a soft open on Friday, August 23rd at 11AM, and we were among the first in line to check it out! Thanks to AE reader Reece for giving us the heads up that Blue Ribbon may be opening today! Their menu has some really unique options.

NEWS: Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is OPEN at Disney’s BoardWalk & We’ve Got A Review!

Cast Members also told us that the corn dogs here are handmade and made to order! So, just be prepared to wait a little for your corn dog.

Once you place your order, you are given a buzzer and told that it will be about a 7-8 minute wait. Once it’s ready, it will light up and you can bring it to the pickup window to get your food.

The pickup window also has some extra condiments that you can grab!

The Pickle Dog is pretty iconic over in Disneyland, so you know we had to try it here at this new spot! It’s an all beef hot dog wrapped in a dill pickle, fried in cornmeal batter, rolled in panko bread crumbs and served with peanut butter and a bag of chips for $15.50.

Yep, you read that correctly — this pickle corn dog comes with a side of peanut butter to dip it in!

This is popular over in Disneyland for a reason, because it’s delicious! The corn dog is also huge, so you could probably share it with someone if you wanted to.

You can tell that it’s been freshly made and the outside is super crispy. The layer of breading matches the thickness of the pickle and hot dog inside, so everything is well balanced in terms of texture.

This is seasoned well and when you get a bite of everything at once, it’s a nice contrast of sweet, salty, and some zip from the vinegar.

The peanut butter dipping sauce probably sounds weird, but it actually works! The flavors of the corn dog mellow out the nutty flavor of the peanut butter and it tastes great together.

But, if you’re skeptical, you can always eat it without the peanut butter!

We also grabbed the Pineapple Cotton Candy for $9. This is spun fresh at the stand and also comes in a pink vanilla flavor!

So, the heat and humidity outside kind of shrunk our cotton candy, which was very odd. We’d recommend eating this right away when you get it so the same thing doesn’t happen to you!

This doesn’t have a super strong pineapple flavor to it. It’s more just like a classic cotton candy with a bit of sweet fruitiness.

It is still delicious! But, if you’re looking for something with a lot of pineapple flavor, stick to some Dole Whip.

Finally, we got a regular-sized fresh-squeezed Strawberry Lemonade for $7. They also have regular lemonade, as well as premium flavors like hibiscus agave and raspberry apricot for $1 extra.

You can tell this was freshly squeezed! It’s slightly sweet and you taste both the lemonade and the fresh strawberry flavor. We think this is perfect on a hot Florida day!

Overall, this is a great new snack option with some unique offerings as well as the classics. And, it goes perfectly with the ambiance of the BoardWalk!

If you want to try it out for yourself, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is open Friday through Sunday 11AM to 11PM and Monday through Thursday 11AM to 10PM.

I hadn't wanted to rain on anyone's parade who seemed excited about this, but I wondered the same. Corn dogs don't do anything for me. Maybe it's just to have some kind of option for food, since Boardwalk has been nothing but closures in the past few years.
I love a good corndog, but I think it's just more the fact that it has been supposed to open for so darn long, with no movement, that people are just having fun now that it is finally open.
And for people with kids a corn dog is probably a good option there.

Yeah, my kids are adults. I absolutely get that it's better than nothing, and they seem to be popular. Now for the Cake Bake place. 🙄

IDK....that picture with the cross-section of the corndog does NOT make it look appetizing to me. The ratio of meat to pickle seems off. Now I love me a good pickle--never met a pickle I didn't like--but it seems like too much "stuff" and not enough "dog" to me. Meh, I'd rather just have a regular corndog with a pickle on the side.

I was so excited when it came to DLR, but my opinion (after eating it) was the same as yours— ratio of meat to pickle is way off (and I think that’s even more pickle than I ate). Still, love a corndog as a convenient on the the go food and the strawberry lemonade sounds delicious.

Happy for all the folks who get to try it today and during the fall, but bummed we missed it by less than two weeks. Oh well, next time!

And peanut butter doesn't go with anything in that!!

I wonder if this is the first “meat to pickle ratio” discussion to occur on DISBoards. Has to be a first.
At least we can have a meat to pickle ration discussion since Blue Ribbon is now open. I still don't understand repurposing the Boardwalk To Go to this very narrow niche product. While I understand Corn Dogs do fit into a Boardwalk theme but with the limited food selections on the Boardwalk I am still on the Fence.

And they blew my guess of an Oct. 1 opening date.

Have to ask, is there really that much demand for corn dogs?
This has been my thought all along as everyone was making a big deal about it opening. We’ve been staying at the BWV since 2006 and I can’t remember once ever having a hankering for a corn dog!! I’d rather focus on what’s going into the BRG space and how soon after it opens that the no use for Cake Bake Shop closes!!

You do know the Cake Bake Shop is a restaurant in addition to a Bake Shop?

I do share your thoughts on hoping something replacing BRG in the near term. It is setup as a Micro Brewery so that limits the flexibility somewhat without a major remodel.
