Paneling and Paint Added as The Cake Bake Shop Exterior Nears Completion

The Cake Bake Shop is finally starting to look like the concept art promised to us when the restaurant and bakery were originally announced. In our last update, we noted the installation of plywood and piping shortly after the location’s signs were installed. However, the exterior of the building was still mostly gray and looked nothing like the building in the above concept art.

Now, paneling has been added and painted white around the majority of the structure. New stylized framing has been installed above most of the windows and doors. In the above photo, one strip of the framing above the windows at the top of the building is still brown, while the other sections have been painted white. Blue painter’s tape is present around all windows, suggesting another coat of paint may be applied soon.

The photo shows the facade of The Cake Bake Shop with a decorative sign, against a partly cloudy sky. Several people stand in front of a barrier below the sign, seemingly captivated by the impeccable design that looks almost auto draft perfect.
The Cake Bake Shop sign above the bakery entrance is now framed on three sides by brown and white paneling. Based on the concept art, these brown panels will likely be painted white before construction is completed. We expect the top to remain frameless so that lights can be installed in the holes that are already there.

Two workers in safety gear are on a raised platform working on the roof of a large white building on a sunny day.

Workers were actively working on stylized paneling around the windows near the top of the building. Above them, the very top of the building has also been painted white, and rectangular frames have been added to each exterior wall.

The first floor of the building has received major updates. During our last update, the structure was still gray, and the area on the underside of the roof was completely exposed, revealing numerous wooden beams. Those beams have been covered and that section as well as the trim around the roof have been painted white.

A white building with a sign that reads The Cake Bake Shop in ornate gold lettering stands next to an Auto Draft station.
The area around the “The Cake Bake Shop” sign above the restaurant entrance has also been painted white. Two stylized panels are expected to be added here, one to the left of the sign and one to the right. These will be similar to the ones around the sign above the bakery.

The area above the roof between the restaurant and bakery has also been painted white and stylized paneling has been added.

While the building has officially taken shape and details are being added around the structure, roof installation has yet to begin. Based on the concept art, the roof will be dark to accentuate the white building its covers. We don’t expect the lights to be added until the dining location is nearly ready to open.

We still don't have an opening date, the current progress looks like we won't see it open until at least the winter. The Cake Bake shop was originally planned to open in 2023, and has progressed very slowly. However, the restaurant did begin its hiring process in March 2024.

The menu, which was previously announced to be similar to Blue Ribbon Corn Dog in Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, features five different kinds of corn dogs. There is the Classic Dog, Pickle Dog, Kid’s Dog, Mexican Street Dog, and Golden Dragon. The Kid’s Dog is $10.50, the Classic Dog is $12.50, and the remaining items are $15.50.

The location will also feature made-to-order cotton candy. Pink Vanilla cotton candy will cost $8 and pineapple will cost $9. Lemon and strawberry lemonade will also be available. 16-ounce drinks will cost $7 and 32-ounce drinks will cost $9. The location will also feature a “meal deal” where guests can add lemonade to any corndog and get $2 off their purchase. The final items on the menu are Dasani water for $5 and energy drinks for $6.

Surprised there are no adult beverages for degenerates like me who would pay an extra $8 for a shot of vodka in that lenonade.

I am sort of surprised by the pricing. Disney has actually been better lately than other entertainment locations as far as food pricing. $10.50 for kid's corndog though?🙃

It would be great if you could provide us on-scene updates on any changes such as the installation of the Kitchen Equipment or stock being delivered during your two visits.

If I see any activity happening I will take and share photos, but I don’t have a BW view room so I’m guessing I’ll only see the area a couple times a day.

quick question. Last time I stayed at Boardwalk, I ordered grocery deliveries from walmart.

I saw the screendoor grocery has a few items. Quick questions:

1. what is the situation of the beverage cooler? we will stay at Boardwalk view studio at villa side. I heard the beverage cooler might be getting replaced back to mini freezer, but not sure?
2. if the beverage cooler is here to stay, I assume it won't fit a half gallon milk that you can get from screendoor?
3. does screendoor have 12 or 24 pack water bottle?

Thanks

See your other two posts for the answers to all but #3. :rolleyes1

Just back and some quick thoughts. Loved it! Ended up with a great room with a fireworks view(even though we only paid for garden view) lucky us! As we all know the location is the selling point. It really is perfect.

My only negative is the lack of food options from inside the hotel. It was pouring one night- we were planning on going to deli but it’s outside. Even Flying fish is outside. There was not a single dinner accessible from the inside. So we ordered Uber eats instead. I think they are missing an opportunity as there were a lot of food deliveries that night. Or even bring back room service.

Any questions ask away. We saw 2-3 guys working on the cake shop roof most of the week.

You’ve got me thinking about a rainy day back up food plan now! Where did you order from and would you recommend?

We have learned to excel at scooting from awning to awning to get to the deli or wherever, in the rain LOL.
