Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Is anyone going to the grand re-opening of Flying Fish tonight?

Here are a couple of photos from @pas130 that her DS found on FB:

YAY!!! I just booked a 1 bedroom villa at BWV at my 7 month window from March 1-6 for our very 1st stay on this property. Our plan is to book a 1 night stay at the "Darkside" then return to a WDW property for a few more days. We're looking forward to Flower & Garden as well as Spring Training!!! Unsure if we'll return to BWV or try a different property. My group would LOVE to try CL at AKL, but that's booked up solid! Maybe I can try waitlisting for the 1st time... Please log my dates, @WDWKOOK Thank you!!

Of course I'll add your dates and welcome home, @FoodieFriend

Hi! I will be at the BWV Nov. 25-Dec. 5. : )

I'll log your dates, too and congratulations, @dvcfan5.

Is there anywhere at the Boardwalk (or elsewhere in Disney World) where we can weigh our luggage before departing for the airport?

They weighed ours at the airline check in desk out in front of the Boardwalk on Saturday.

Do you need to be checking in at the desk in order to weigh it?

I would imagine you don't have to be checking-in for DME.

There are men on my balcony so that was shocking, but funny. They are replacing the awning (I think since they removed it) and freshening the paint and siding. We totally overslept for breakfast so it's off to Disney springs for lunch. It's official BWI now beat out GF as a favorite (Bc CL is almost tied for first though) Happy Tuesday friends! Another tie for ample hills and Boardwalk bakery, split pas decision

That would be a strange and awkward surprise when you open the drapes. Did they leave a note in your room with a warning? What time was this?

I like doing Online Check In. If anything it speeds up the process once we arrive. Even if we do Online Check In I still stop by the desk to get that face to face time with the CM at the desk. If you do Online Check In or not has zero affect on what room you will be assigned. I would skip the room request section during Online Check In and phone in your requests. When booked standard at BWI we have always requested "upper floor" and "nice view please". Every time we've gotten an upper floor and some pretty nice views. Never once have we gotten a roof top or dumpster view.

And even if you do Online Check In you can still ask to switch rooms if yours is not to your liking.

I'm the same way, it can't hurt. And, besides, even when I receive the text, I never get the room number and I have to go to the desk first anyway.

I noticed last night they've changed the MDX OCI room request "My Reservations" page. At least they seem to be
mildly improved from the last time I looked a week or two ago and it was the "old" format. I only have access to the CR, BC and GF ones, but I can post some here later for comparison.

Is it true they are getting rid of the clown pool?

Just curious, @GiantsNiners11, from where did you hear this?

I haven't been over to the villas side but there is a lot of external refreshening all over. It's mostly minor like paint and siding I think. Nothing crazy loud, some drilling and some beeping from the small vehicles. Honestly yesterday we didn't even realize they were on our balcony until I opened the drapes (insert giggle here). The walls are down on the inn side and the BW store fronts, so I think maybe it's more on the inn side? The notices in the room say the same as the emails. Internally in the lobby and at the main pool you wouldn't notice a thing in my opinion. You'll be here soon and it'll be great! I'll try to wander down the villa hall later just to get an idea of sound levels.

Thank you for updating everyone:)

@WDWKOOK When we checked our bags a couple weeks ago, the check in was across from the DME bus stop under the arch, not around the side of the main entrance (where we were used to and where your picture I think shows). That may be because there was a conference? Maybe they were handling a lot more luggage than usual? Just a heads-up...

Thank you for the correction/update, @preemiemama!

The men are back on my balcony now actually and no note or warning. They're on the balcony at the Innkeepers club and I laughed so hard I think the other guests think I'm nuts

.....I mean I am..

What other CL CMs sing to their guests in the morning by name? Another plus to the Innkeepers Club

What a sweet thing to do! :daisy:

Workmen on your balcony with no note or notice? That's just crazy. :headache:

Thanks so much, I appreciate it :lovestruc

We aren't picky either, it's good ice cream I think. The kids preferred it to France which we got on Saturday night. There can be long lines but we've gotten lucky in the evenings after Iluminations. Both there and the bakery close at 11p. Remember ask for samples, their cookies and cream has so many cookies!!!
Cookies and Cream is our youngest DS fav..will have to send him a pic, while he's at college this F&W trip, he's a good sport!;) He will be probably having too much fun anyway! Ample Hills sounds DELIC!:thumbsup2

Here is my useful contribution to this thread: They did update the MDX OCI room request selections. I did the OCI yesterday after having received error messages for a day or so. The requests are now in two drop down menus and you can pick one from each of the drop downs. I wasn't able to figure out a way to copy and paste, so here is my typing of the choices as they appeared today:

Two Queen Beds
Adjoining Rooms (not connecting)
Connecting Rooms
Courtyard View
Second Floor
Third Floor
Fourth Floor
Fifth Floor [this one only appeared on the second drop down, not the first]
Ground Floor
Connecting Rooms (guaranteed) [yes, really]
Highest Floor
Upper Floor
Near Lobby
Lower Floor
Near elevator
King Bed
Boardwalk View
Baby Gate (guaranteed)

I'm hopeful this will help folks in evaluating what sort of room requests they may choose. I would note that I think it is silly to select a view that you did not reserve (e.g. Boardwalk view), but maybe people are having luck with that.

I personally love the 5th floor -- well, except for that time we were upgraded to CL on the 4th floor; worth the longer walk -- and we behaved ourselves.

I apologize if this has been posted somewhere before, but I'm honestly too lazy to try to find it. :earboy2:

We are checking into a 2bdr villa on 8/23 and was wondering if I am able to make a specific room request? If so how and what rooms would you recommend. I have garden/pool view. I'm thinking a room overlooking the main pool with a view of HS and ToT would be AWESOME! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting the drop-down menu options for BWI, @Sandi. While it is improved, the choices are still only resort-specific and not room category booked-specific. Back in the "old" days, I suppose the BWV request you could make was for a CL Standard Room booking, but now that's a bookable category, so I have no idea why they still offer that request. Here are the screen captured options for BC:

Thanks for this.

I posted something similar on the BC/YC thread a little bit ago about the expanded online options. While I like that there seems to be more expanded options, I think that Disney's IT Department could have made some tweaks where the options would match up with resort category booked. The way it is now, I think, makes things a tad confusing. As an example: I booked a standard view room and will be checking in the week after next and seeing "Boardwalk view and Courtyard view" come up as an option would lead me to believe that those options could apply to me especially when I'm not familiar with the views and this particular resort in general. Now, take someone who doesn't know about these boards, has never been to Disney and chooses an option they see come up that in reality wouldn't even apply to them and talk about a wasted request.

I think I was typing at the same time you posted this as you basically said the same thing i was thinking and just posted :)

Thanks for posting that for everyone, but I'm mildly miffed that they put you in a room where you can't open your drapes nor use your balcony. That's like a "NO VIEW" / "NO BALCONY" room to me and should be priced as such:sad2:
there's a view of guys on the balcony ;) JK it doesn't bother me because it's too hot to go out there. Now if I had a BWV room I'd be complaining.

Walked the length of the 2nd floor and heard no construction in the BWV
Holy cannoli that walk is longer end to end then the BWI to WS walk! Hopefully it's always that quiet during @oceanmarina upcoming stay.

Thanks so much ! I'll post when I get there next week. It sounds like you are having a fantastic time, enjoy every day! Pas130, how many more days is your stay?
