Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

There are men on my balcony so that was shocking, but funny. They are replacing the awning (I think since they removed it) and freshening the paint and siding. We totally overslept for breakfast so it's off to Disney springs for lunch. It's official BWI now beat out GF as a favorite (Bc CL is almost tied for first though) Happy Tuesday friends! Another tie for ample hills and Boardwalk bakery, split pas decision

Sooo... we check-in to the BWI on the 15th after our BC stay.

We are booked in a standard view room and because I refused the magic bands with the intentions of just using our bands from the BC, is it even worth me doing online check-in? I'm usually not a fan of online check-in (call me crazy but I like the old-fashion way of checking in), but this will actually be our first time staying in a standard view room anywhere and first time at the BWI so I'm just a "tad" nervous of where we could end up. In this case, should I do online check-in? Other than an upper floor (i don't do ground floors), what should I even request? Suggestions, anyone??

I would suggest doing it, only because I love the rest I'm ready text. Also if suggest near elevator and there's even a Boardwalk view option, I think it's probably an old option but why not try? You are doing my family's dream split stay....if they would do split stays ;)

Thanks Pas...

My family are actually not fans of split stays in fact, DH and my youngest, hate them...lol. My girls are also not happy with me as they wanted to do CL this trip but with my youngest going off to college and my oldest still in college, CL was not in the budget this year.

We do not do "on line" check in most of the time. I prefer the "face to face". BOTH TIMES were tried on line check in, our requests disappeared, no where to be found, huh? Not a fan, so we resort to the "old fashioned" way. If you go through the time of waiting for a MS cast member on the phone to make a request, then make the requests say six months in advance, somehow you "expect the request to be there", ya think?:sad2:

Eager to try Ample Hills, some "mixed reviews" though, not "that picky", sure we will like it as we do Boardwalk Bakery, YUM!:thumbsup2 ENJOY your stay!

Oh no...not good! I'm usually not a fan of online check-in but having a standard view room this time around at a resort I'm not familiar with is "wigging me out"...lol.

My hubby hates splits so I get it

I like doing Online Check In. If anything it speeds up the process once we arrive. Even if we do Online Check In I still stop by the desk to get that face to face time with the CM at the desk. If you do Online Check In or not has zero affect on what room you will be assigned. I would skip the room request section during Online Check In and phone in your requests. When booked standard at BWI we have always requested "upper floor" and "nice view please". Every time we've gotten an upper floor and some pretty nice views. Never once have we gotten a roof top or dumpster view.

And even if you do Online Check In you can still ask to switch rooms if yours is not to your liking.

I'm sorry that happened to you. But if you called in your requests, them disappearing had nothing to do with your doing Online Check In. Either the MS CM you spoke to didn't save your requests or they never put them in. I know this doesn't help what happened before, but I always call about a week before our trip and ask the phone CM to read back any room requests that are on our reservation. Only once have they not been there so I added them and all was good when we arrived.

Okay I just did it...online check-in that is!! I'll also call next Monday, exactly one week out to make sure the requests are noted. We're celebrating my youngest DD's graduation from high school so I'll keep my fingers crossed that we get a decent view :thumbsup2.

Yes, we now confirm our requests by phone a day or two before we are scheduled to arrive. We simply call MS and ask what our requests are to ensure they are still in our reservation. :goodvibes

So glad you guys are having a great time! Is there a lot of construction work going on around the resort? Have you heard anything about the work in the villas?

I haven't been over to the villas side but there is a lot of external refreshening all over. It's mostly minor like paint and siding I think. Nothing crazy loud, some drilling and some beeping from the small vehicles. Honestly yesterday we didn't even realize they were on our balcony until I opened the drapes (insert giggle here). The walls are down on the inn side and the BW store fronts, so I think maybe it's more on the inn side? The notices in the room say the same as the emails. Internally in the lobby and at the main pool you wouldn't notice a thing in my opinion. You'll be here soon and it'll be great! I'll try to wander down the villa hall later just to get an idea of sound levels.

We aren't picky either, it's good ice cream I think. The kids preferred it to France which we got on Saturday night. There can be long lines but we've gotten lucky in the evenings after Iluminations. Both there and the bakery close at 11p. Remember ask for samples, their cookies and cream has so many cookies!!!
