Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I agree because when you book a standard view on the inn side the computer gives you bw view as a choice. If someone doesn't know that when doing online check in and they choose that as one of their 2 choices then it's a wasted choice.

This reason is why I recommend people call and add their room requests to their reservation. It's not just BW that has this issue. At every resort the options are the same no matter what type of room you book. I bet there are a ton of people who waste requests for this reason.

Just like if you have a water view and select BW View it's a wasted choice. You are going to get a BW view

I'm thinking they have 1 set of check in options for each resort, no matter what is booked. Everyone gets the same list

It's just such a PITA to call them. And not free for those who are out of the US or don't have it on their cell

Agreed. That's one reason I make my requests when I book. I always book via phone so while I have them......

Speaking of online check-in choices, what is the difference between "near lobby" and "near elevator"?

Near lobby generally gets you placed on the lobby floor and in close proximity to it. Near elevator could be on any floor, but nearer the elevator versus at the opposite end of the building from it.

Thought of another question. When we stayed at BWV a couple of years ago, we weren't anywhere near the elevator, but we were to stairwells which was fine by us. When I stay at the BWI in June, I don't mind not being near the elevators again, but what's their stairwell situation? Will we be able to come back in through that door or is it exit only?

We have used the stairwell entries at BWI before--after hours (pre-MB days) you did need your room key to enter those doors, but entry was possible. I would imagine they have been reconfigured for MB entrance.

Good to know -- thanks again!

Hi! I'm loving reading all this great conversation on room requests. :) The honey and I are going back at the end of May. Last August we stayed on the BWI side, this year we are trying to BWV side mainly because its just the two of us and it was cheaper for some reason. I was always under the assumption that the Villas would always be more expensive than the Inn side. Last year we stayed in a King Bed Room on the 2nd floor which worked out great we were just down the hall from the elevator however there was a lot of traffic in the hallway outside early in the morning and we would like the avoid some of this because I'm a very light sleeper (12 years of swing shift) and we like to sleep in and enjoy the parks/brew works later in the evenings. Any suggestions as to what type of room requests we should make?

New rumors: Brooklyn Ice cream place to replace ESPN arcade, plus the lounge to replace Seashore Sweets.

That ice cream store has fantastic reviews on Yelp for all their locations in NY. Sounds better than the Edy's they had in Seashore Sweets, though I did like it.

That does sound good. And, I agree with you. Even though it was just Edy's ice cream, it tasted better on the Boardwalk.

We just checked into the BWI CL. You can no longer request boardwalk view as an option. I found out a couple of months after we booked that the boardwalk view was switching over to its own booking and a $100 night price increase but any time I called Disney to see about booking it they told me I couldn't book a view only request it. Well here now and we have a view of the tops of trees and when I asked about changing to Boardwalk view I was told they would have to charge the $100 a night extra fee and they had no openings anyway.
Listening to jackhammer noises in room now. Very loud and annoying to say the least.

That's good news :mickeybar ...Hope that it will be something as charming as Seashore Sweets....We loved all of the pictures and details that were in there...

We were advised of this on our last BW stay as well...But so far have been unable to find that category open for booking either....?????????????? Its listed on the as a booking option..but thats about it...lol... ..Sorry for the jackhammer noise :headache:..on our recent stay we heard nothing..just saw some walls.and equipment....

Sooooo just wanted share here that after reading about all that F&G has to offer..especially all of those wonderful food opportunities...that we have changed our spring ressie to the BWI...Gee whiz..I might have to change my tag from GF gal :ssst: ....lol...Have to say..the after last few stays at the BW I am so enamored of the Epcot resort area! That and....the resort changing influence of my dear friend pas! :flower: ....lol...

Also wanted to add about those creeepy lobby chairs...their names should be changed to Pain and Panic....:crazy2::crazy2:

Love how they're adding all these "view categories" so that they can nickel and dime us!

As I suspected a couple months ago when @Disneytam was asking about the Boardwalk View request, they have indeed gone the way of making people pay extra $$ for a view/location if it's requested enough. The same reason why there's a Preferred Pool View at Pop. Didn't used to be one. But so many people who booked preferred were requesting a Pool View and those booked in a Pool View were requesting those same rooms they made up this extra category that costs more than both a Preferred and a Pool View.

A Deluxe Club still gets you a Boardwalk view doesn't it?

I've bounced around for a place for DH and I this Friday night. I finally took the plunge to try out something I've been wanting to do for a long time, one of the Garden Cottages.
We won't be there till evening but we aren't heading out early on Saturday so we'll have a chance to hang out and enjoy the room and the CL amenities.
We'd never pick one for a longer stay as I wouldn't want to deal with stairs after a long day in the parks. So this ended up being the perfect time to check it out

Well since its Saturday I will say hope that you are having a great stay....Looking forward to hearing about your thoughts and experience...:goodvibes

Have developed some lower back issues that made me rethink my Wilderness Lodge reservation. Just changed to BWI for 3/11-3/15. It's my younger daughter's college spring break. I feel like transportation to and from the studios is better and we plan on doing both F! this time and the Star Wars fireworks. We normally stay on the monorail loop but I thought since we were focusing more on the other parks this might be better

rcraw One of the things that has drawn this former monorail resort only family over to repeat BW (although we do love the charm and authenticity of this particular resort too!) stays is the ease of getting to both Epcot and DHS...absolutely wonderful ...:thumbsup2 Hope that your back issues improve soon...

And I have it on good sources that the chairs are in fact haunted and can be seen traveling through the long halls to seek out particularly difficult guests.

Yes it does.

@BlueSkies....That's great news about your switch to BWI for F&G! I agree with you about the ease of getting to Epcot and HS. The feel of the resort also makes us want to go back year after year. Just love it. Your trip will be here before you know it.
